@23:10 -- OF COURSE!! you have the Lamp from "A Christmas Story", full-size even... when I look around in the background I can't help but think you're inside my head, man. Fifteen years ago (2004) if I had known about this kit I would have bought one, but I know I was woefully inadequate then...probably am now too, and very likely would have done exacty as you. Waited, practiced, and learned before embarking. In any case, there is NO WAY I could have gone as fast as you. Excellent.
Those three little lights will probably outlast us all! At 4.5V they should last their full 100,000 years (or is it hours?) Marketing opportunity, Lou-- I'll go halfsies on the "Modeler's Coffee Grinder" -- sure it looks like a Bussard Collector off of an Enterprise Engine, but it grinds your coffee beans to Federation standard perfection in seconds!!! All looking very good.
My girlfriend watched for the first time tonight and liked it but... about half way through she said " Don't you ever bring one of those home" Keep up the good work.
Lots of great progress! I couldn't imagine taking on a beast like that, but I'm also only back into the hobby less than a year. Can't wait until next week!
The bussard collectors look spot on Lou. I can't believe the size of some of the parts that make up this kit, wow! The jig seems to be a big help in keeping things lined up. Do you think when it's finally together and you take it out of the jig the nacelles will remain straight and level? I bet I went through about 5 Enterprise kits as a kid playing Star Trek after assembly and I remember the nacelles seemed to dip a little at the back end. Maybe it was just poor workmanship on my part. This kit is going to something special when completed I can already see that!!
Hey lou great job so far. I would like to make a suggestion. Before you continue the Bussard collecters you should take a look at the x rays that the Smithsonian took before they started the latest restoration you will find something vary interesting under the inner dome.
Loving this project Lou,frosting over the LED'S and the inner domes would help get rid of the hot spots i think, guessing the camera is showing them up to be much worse than they actually are.
The blinker appears to be off twice as long as it is on the old lady in the Smithsonian. A blinker circuit can accommodate that with the right resistors/capacitors combination. I will be building one for my Daedalus build later this year.
What happened to episodes 1 & 2? I went to your playlist and they’re not there. Looks great Lou. Haven’t seen any other videos on a 66” Enterprise! Thanks for sharing! Happy days and model on! 😎🇨🇦
I love the wall paper you have on your computer, that is the only thing I liked about Discovery was the updated version of the STO Enterprise. If your going with 9volts to be safe just use 1K resistors, as for strobes I just make a led chasser with a ten step down with 4017 timer with a 555 timer circuit as a delay. But she is looking fantastic, I'm still working on Voyager at the moment but I do not think I would have the skill to take on a model of that size.
Man that's a big ship, but amazing work as usual! You could frost the inner domes to diffuse the light just a bit. I wouldn't use the velcro fabric to quiet the inner domes because of static buildup. It's probably not an issue where you are at, but I came a gutser once because of that on something not modeling related.
I noticed you mention about making the jig/engines nice and square etc. and while I agree that aligning the jig correctly is crucial to the future steps "square" might not be the right thing... the Engine cylinders are slightly tapered so if you make it "square" it might actually be off. It should be "square" at the centerlines of engines to the pylons, which when you look at it from a little distance looks slightly off square... I hope that makes sense. I'm sure you have it covered but wanted to speak up in case...
I get what you mean and that's what I was planning to do. the engines do taper so the centerline is an imaginary mid point along the length of the nacelle ( it's where the big pennant will go)
Didn't the original E model have broken mirror in the collectors? With as large as this model is you should be able to glue in bits of broken mirror to reflect the light in the domes and give a more random look.
Heya Lou! I am Looking at your Impulse Deck And Impulse Engines? I do think that you could light them. The Engines themselves could drilled out in no time as they are a basic shape and the LEDs could be diffused or you could use a Strip Light? You can’t have a Constitution Kit this Large And not Light the Impulse Engines?! See it as a Challenge with a Worth While Reward at the End Of the Road! Best
Lou Dalmaso Heya Lou! That Sounds Great! You Have To Light Those Impulse Engines! I would Definitely use a Clear Part if you can get one! I Love the Jig to keep the Primary Hull And Warp Nacelles And the Secondary Hull all aligned! She is a Model and a Half!
Lou, you need to do a demo of your wonderful shirts at the start of the episode. Most of the time, we only get a glimpse of the tops. Just a heads-up, Finescale Modeller on TH-cam did a plug for your Kelvin paint masks: th-cam.com/video/n4eoIvb1140/w-d-xo.html . Every time I hear the bird is the word, I can't help but think of Family Guy's episode.

Loving the bird bath...

I look forward to winding down after work on a Saturday afternoon with your latest update.

Whew! This is a crazy build! I'm lovin' it!
Lou, bird watching is cool, especially when you get a wild turkey in your back garden.. unusual in southern Ontario in urban areas!
Man, you are flying along on this, looks amazing.
Lots of great progress! I couldn't imagine taking on a beast like that, but I'm also only back into the hobby less than a year. Can't wait until next week!
Lou, you always have the best T-shirt’s! Great work!!!
Great progress. And congratulations on having your masks get mentioned on Fine Scale Modeler's product rundown show.
This ship model is the perfect size to get all the little lights in and shining!

Awesome model!!!
Live long and prosper. Your doing a bang up job

i don't know how that happened, but they're back now. Thanks for the alert!
@@aztekdummy no problemo!

Why would someone dislike this video. Jealous much or a klingon?

it also had randomly blinking Christmas lights, too. I'm not that much of a stickler.
I miss the random twinkle lights. None of the modern Christmas tree lights truly twinkle randomly.
Number 2 like. Love the lou!
Too bad it doesn't come with a detailed Shuttle Bay!

I may be getting a clear version of that part from the new maker of the kit. If so then I will be lighting it

I don’t have that jig. Any chance of letting me buy that from you after you’re done? ;-)
It's possible. I don't think Max is making them anymore. I want to make sure to get some measurements off of it to draw up new blueprints.
Great... please keep me in mind fort the masks you develop too. Are you just doing the windows, or are you gonna do paneling I.e., nacelles and such?
Week three brought to you by the letter P.
I love your birds Lou, because they aren't Birds of Prey. LOL ( Pun Intended )
My God she`sA Big ship.
Hey, don't play that song around Peter Griffin. 😁

i'm aware of the plug. good to see the fine scale folks catching the Aztek bug!
Lou go to TH-cam and see " TOSEnterprise private"
