    Whoops - was going to suggest the local auto paint supply shop - then let the video run and saw that's exactly what you did :). When I use those paints I use my garage with the door open and a fan blowing out... Good ventilation is a MUST for this paint.

      see, that's what you get when you jump the gun...:) I painted in an open car port but still wore my respirator and gloves and such.

      @@aztekdummy Yep saw that when I finished your Episode. As for the price of the paint when you figure out how much you get vs. regular model paint its actually pretty reasonable. ~$5 for less than an oz. for Tamiya vs $74 for 32oz... its actually cheap in bulk sorta kinda :). plus it sprays beautifully.

    Love the paint you used! Suggestion for the strut brass. Brush in super thin CA, lay in the brass, then lay on black water color wash to flatten the glossy CA, then wipe off the dried excess with dampened t-shirt material.

    • @aztekdummy
      @aztekdummy  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I plan an overall dull coat to flatten the gloss of the paint anyway. Wouldn't that take care of the gloss of the CA as well?

    • @vidar7106
      @vidar7106 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Possibly, but a wash would ensure getting a “flat” into all the
      Knooks-n-crannies, plus you will get an improved effect of depth behind the brass.

    That B/C Deck was as pretty as a giant M&M! I too felt a twinge of love. I found your paint quest downright inspirational and glad to hear of the great good success. Boyd Crompton speaks of auto-body paints but only goes into so much detail (at times plenty but only once in a great, great while). Also he mixes his paints by "eye" but his eye is a thoroughly well-practiced one (due to his "day job" which is an auto body repair and finish retouch specialist). In your case, Lou, the results speak for themselves. Mighty nice.
    Those blue light boxes feel so right-- too bad they didn't go for it on TOS. I intend to always light my nacelles that way.
    Love the galloping pace you're at! The end is near...

    Wow! "Gorgeous" doesn't do the paint job justice. Just curious, but could the place you got the custom mix use specific color values, like Lab, if you don't have swatches available?

    • @aztekdummy
      @aztekdummy  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes, they could, but they prefer real world samples. it's just easier to know if the results are correct that way.

    I think you're gonna be happier shooting your paint through a gun. LOTS more control, and a superior finished product.
    (By the way, most automotive paint dealers will put their paint into an aerosol can- which I'm sure you already know).
    Shooting through a gun is best though!

    Hello Lou, can you tell me , where can i buy one of these, and how much it cost ?

    • @aztekdummy
      @aztekdummy  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      charly. any info I have is about 13 years out of date. if you look thru the comments on this build a couple of chapters back, you will find a post from "Mr. E from Tau Ceti".. he is the current owner of the patterns and parts for this kit. He has told me that he doesn't sell kits, but will do custom builds. I have no idea of what he charges, but you could message him and find out
