See what he's doing on the ride cymbal? That's Klook. That's his biggest contribution to the music. Before he came along, band leaders were very "poo-poo" about a drummer doing such a thing.
Feeling under par, eh. Then take in this superb clip which swings wonderfully and leaves one on an unavoidably higher plane. The essence of good-to be-alive jazz.
I enjoyed Kenny Clarke Bud Powel at the Piano , and Jerry Mulligan Saksophon , when living in Paris , France at the “ Blue Notes Club “ after 2.00 am when my self having my own Club , which Josephine Bake used to drop by too . That was the Gold Aira . They were Great Jasmin’s .
On alto sax, Flavio Ambrosetti and next to him his son, Franco Ambrosetti on trumpet (still playing today), on piano George Gruntz (all three Swiss). On bass we have the great K. T. Geier (born in Cologne), who was one of Kenny Clarke's favourite bassists when touring in Europe. He's now 87 years old and still playing fantastically! Actually, he is my mentor (I play trumpet) in his workshop which he has been leading for over 40 years now in Switzerland.
Kenny Clarke was an absolutely fabulous drummer. So underrated but every bit as important as Max, Elvin and the like. Oh, that left hand!!!

To say the very least, man!
Absolutely not underrated except by the “Buddy Rich is the greatest drummer of all time!!!” crew.

RAI UNO, incidentally, is Channel 1 of Italian TV, exactly UK BBC equivalent.
