I definitely get the Jimmy Raney influence, but here I hear shades of Grant Green. That said, he's still the one and only Rene Thomas. Interesting how his sound changed in a matter of less than a decade. Very swinging and tasteful. Becoming a favorite of mine, along with Grant Green, Wes, and Jimmy Raney. Thomas belongs on that short list.
Too bad it s not easy to find in internet more than couple of his albums. He is so clear precise and lyrical. He is definitely should have a lot more acclaim between guitar community. I ve heard first time about him only yesterday and i have been interested in guitar about 20 years already
Excellent band. Thanks so much for posting more Rene Thomas! I've seen a black and white photograph of Lou Bennett behind his B3, Rene Thomas seated with his ES-150 in a white room with a man in front of them in a wheelchair (being used as a dolly no doubt) holding an Arri-S 16mm film camera. Any idea if this footage exists or how to locate it? Thanks again for posting!
... and the drummer on the pic is my father Franco Manzecchi. I've got that same picture and was wondering all my life what kind of TV show this could be. I've got an original photography, where did you see your picture?

i don’t think he recorded many albums. He is on a couple of Chet Baker albums.
