Thank you so much for reviewing a Nubia phone, Chris
I've been anticipating that for years now.
Big old school fan here
Thanks for the comment! I hope to review more, quite like this phone and what they have done. It just needs a bit more refinement on the software side with the cameras.
It's definitely a unique one for sure. nubia has been constantly delivering 35mm lens camera for years now, their consistency is impressive.
It's great to see something different in this space for sure.
if only the updates where this consistent.
Nubia produced wonderful devices but it stumbled after the US ban. Now they are coming again. I used Nubia z11 max in 2016 and I loved it. My mom is still using the same phone though I gave her Samsung A53. She loves 7 years old Nubia more than the latest Samsung 😅
Always welcome 😊
@@Techtabletsdo you possibly know if it has the side menu/toolbox where you can launch selected apps in pop-up windows? It was present in my previous Nubia (red magic)
've been waiting for your reviews on this! tnx
Love when company not fear to experiment with try to make some unique products. Remind me first years of mass cell phones. Nokia, Siemens, Ericsson, Samsung, LG with all their crazy ideas. Great review, thanks as always!
Thanks for sharing and I agree it's also why I bought it as I just loved the look and idea behind it.
@@Techtabletsim trying to save up for this, can I ask how do u think this will last me? 4-5 years maybe?
@@RainerM-mz6lnit will last u forever if u dont use it..
@@RainerM-mz6ln ZTE isn't great with updates but if you don't care about that then sure it will. 😊
this is the review im waiting for! thank you!❤❤❤
Hope you like it!
Just the fact they have a phone like 30% different to Samsung and Iphone is a blessing.
At last, something unique and interesting..
Thanks Chris for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it!
I have the z50 ultra and love it, flat screen, top specs mute slider and great camera all for 700. Have seen very little reviews for it, thanks for doing this Nubia.
The ultra is amazing
Yes, hard to find any good reviews of it, seems to get little coverage in the west.
For some reason its not even listed on the official Chinese website of Nubia any more.
Personally I can't stand any notches or cutout front cameras, floating islands etc. I think its so incredibly ugly, I gladly trade a worse selfie that I use once every month for that full uninterrupted screen.
How's your experience so far, any issues with the UI or hardware in general?
@666neloangelo666 totally agree the flat full screen was exactly what I was looking for plus very little bloatware. I had the MI 11 ultra and feel the nubia system is better. I seem to get notifications quicker.
Are they send OTA updates every month?
@@i3dny about every 2 months
Good day! I was contemplating on buying this phone but I am not sure on its security patches and android updates, do you have any idea on how long does Nubia support this phone?
Infelizmente essa marca ainda não chegou no Brazil, pouco se sabe sobre ela por aqui. Mas o aparelho parece ser de ótima qualidade.
I had a Honor 90 that was not what i expected, the lack of OIS made huge difference on cameras for me, google cam mod didn't work and the OS had issues updating, so i wonder if i will have better experience with nubia Z50, i'm inclined on trying it.
This video is very informative esp. its glitches. This keep me on hold of buying this phone. I hope you would review in the same details when and if ever the global version comes out.
are you able to use a custom launcher with the gestures navigations?
Any chance of covering either the z50 or z50 Ultra? And does their default Dialer have Call Recording? Love the video, damn that weather was about to get wild lmao.
Not sure I'll buy those. Maybe the 1 inch sensor model if that is released. As for the dialer yes native app supports call recording. The weather has been quite unstable very cloudy the last few days.
Like this phone. MyOS surprised me with all the configurations it offers. Like gestures for turning on the flash light with the typical Motorola gesture.
Customizability with Super Wallpaper like effects.
Softwarewise impressed a bit as I did not expect this.
5G no issue in Germany, Cologne which is good.
Cameras I am quite happy with the main cam. The ultrawide is a disappointment especially for photos. Washed out in RAW and overpunchy colours in JPG and bad lense basically with lots of distortion and softness to towards the edges.
I did not expect anything from the telezoom but it surprised me aswell. Not bad for a 8 MP shooter at 80mm. They do some upscaling to 14 MP here.
Really what got me hooked is the 35mm field of view and the default camera app which offers lots of settings and tweaks. Like for example 5 mins exposure time which I did not see on any other phone.
For the bright colour clipping. Much better with Street mode and the Fujifilm filter
Yes the main camera is really nice. Love the portraits of my kids it delivers. Good tip with the bright colours to stop the clipping using the street mode + filter. myOS has so much customisation more than I expected overall very good skin. Can you please run 3DMark wild life extreme stress test and see if it crashes and powers off the phone? My unit might be faulty.
@@Techtablets Yeah the test is running in loop 10/20 currently. I will post my update if it even finishes running. I think its overheating pretty much. The sides are very hot (back is ok to touch sides almost unbearble hot)
Temperature here currently 24°C indoors (no AC) outside 30°C
So could understand it overheating outdoors but should not do this indoors with reasonable temperature.
Maybe taking off the case could help. Anyway for sure they need to optimize this a bit. In gaming however I did not experience such heat up yet. Even 4k video editing and rendering did not get so hot. Maybe it detects the benchmark and goes into "full turbo lets burn the hands of my user" mode 😅
It failed in loop 20 with a temperature warning :/
@@lltechviewHello, could you tell me if it overheats in daily use? in apps like Facebook, WhatsApp, or watching Instagram reels
@@BrandonXO-700 I am no Whatsapp or Facebook user but Mastodon, Disapora and Instagram works fine. No overheating.
Is this the global version or the China version?
I watched someone use a z50 for an emulator and nothing happened but when do the 3d benchmark the phone goes off too.
No overheating too for gaming.
Hello can you revisit the nubia z50s pro this yr? Becuase I'm planning to buy this year 2024 it is worthit this yr?
You could probably run a quite decent desktop mode by enabling the switches in developer mode and installing the Taskbar app?
Bro Does it overheat too much during gaming? You said nothing about it, also Didn't measure the temperature either. And What is the current performance situation now after the new update?
Great review as usual and thank you for reviewing these good phones from these companies as they're better alternatives for regular phones we have in our limited markets
My questions are:
Considering this a Chinese ROM does have a native call recorder option in its native phone app like other phones with Chinese ROMs ?
Second question is does it support third party launcher as a default with gestures navigation or not?
Thank you again for your review 🙏
Glad you like them! To answer your questions. Yes to native call recording. No to launchers being at as home. It has the option in settings default home app but I have Nova installed and I can't set it as the default.
@@Techtablets thank you so much
@@Techtablets my fix was settings > applications > app info > tap the 3 vertical dots on the upper right > tap "Desktop" then choose the launcher what you want to default as. It was my issue with Redmagic 8 Pro, I can set the launcher temporarily but then returns to default launcher when going "home" but that method I mentioned fixed it.
Блок питания стандарт PD?
I have oppo reno 10 pro plus and i wanna upgrade to this phone should i do it or
Is the automatically turning off issue has been fixed?
Like always Nubia has great hardware, but longtime support is an absolute lackluster… 😅
What is the app to see screen hours?
Nice review 👌 I have bought Z50 ultra for £515. But it was really confused between Z50,Z50s and Z50 ultra all three with top specs. Absolutely beast of phone.
It is a bit confusing even I didn't know which to do for but in the need this was the lastest one. Great phone that could be some much better which some firmware updates.
you made a right choice! z50 Ultra is top among z50 series. I use Z50 Ultra since April and my experience is fantastic after I fine tuned the smartphone (because I know how to set up notifications in order NOT to miss them).
im currently using z50 ultra for me this is the best rear cam , thermals , and gaming , the only cons on this is the selfie cam but still great coz you will watching video and gaming on full display
while z50s pro the thermals is not good for me it reach 42-43° while the z50 ultra it only reach 38-39° and if you stop gaming after 25-30sec the heat will gone
@@Andrew_Lucky_ Can You share how to fine tune the smartphone?? Thanks!
I must admit I loved curved screens when they first came out, I had the Galaxy S6 Edge and S8 plus. However in the the last couple of years I've got fed up with them and I'm flat screens all the way these days
Same here, flat if possible I feel is the best or like my S23 Ultra just a tiny small curve.
@@Techtabletsflat is so much better for screen protectors too
@@Techtabletsme who's still saving up to buy ny first ever curve phone 😭 why you guys hates it?
@@sainturiel7459its useless, wastes screen space for bezel illusion which is just the same as having a smaller screen with bezels, accidental press when holding on the sides, impossible screen protectors
@@sainturiel7459they look nice, it's just a little more of a hassle to deal with stuff like a screen protectors. Some people have issues with accidental touches, although honestly doesn't happen to me if I have a case.
That particularly glass screen protectors can be a hassle on curved screens especially within display fingerprint sensors. Personally I think screen protectors are a little overrated in 2023 given that gorilla Glass doesn't get scratched by common metals like keys.
But still....
Nice video, there's not many videos like this, this one it's so complete but I want to know... what phones are you on par with in terms of cameras? It will depend on the answer if I buy it or not
what camera sensor brand & model?
which is better axon 40 ultra or z50s pro
Update: @1:35 This phone finally gets its Global version.. 😍
Original: The good thing about this phone, if you're opting for SD8GEN2 this is a steal + it has IR Blaster (which I really do like 😍)
The software is the worst thing about this phone
Can you run Geekbench 6 on it and share some results.
My favorite feature: charge separation/bypass charging 😊
Yes that's good for gaming plugged in.
Very good review, as always.
I prefer ONLY flat screens, the reflections on the sides of curved screens not only are annoying but also anti ergonomic, it tires my eyes too much forcing them to refocus all the time.
Agree with you on that and the colour shifting on the edges are also so annoying. I prefer flat screens.
Actually, It is I, who Loves flat screens the most.
curved screen looks beautiful, but its fragile and it broke easily, that's why i like flat screen over all.😊
Can you reccomend this phone sir for hard core gamer thanks
does the video out output a 19:9 screen or the phones' aspect ratio? Would be helpful to know, thanks
Clone display and it looks to be the phone ratio.
It has bypass charging and pc mode?
I had the white edition for a week. £588 for the 16gb and 1tb storage. great phone. now I am waiting for the Xiaomi 13 ultra.
Tell us if it worth the upgrade from the nubia to xiaomi 13 ultra when u get the xiaomi 13 ultra . Thanks
It is but not 2x time the price
@@yasserzozxazer1124 in camera, this will fares better specially with released gcam.
Always appreciate your videos.
Is the China version worth it... can you work with it?
Trying to decide between the IQOO 11, Realme GT5 (CN) and the Nubia z50s pro
Would value your input very much
Which one would you choose?
The Realme will probably get a global Release. Might be better to wait for that.
As for photos,IQOO 11 is the best one,I personally would think so. IQOO specialized in take night photos,it never overexposured(such like Ad led board, lamps etc)
Nubia z50sp telephoto is just a"bouns".....do not take it seriously ..
😂as for the screen, I love AQUOS R8pro...
I don't think there is a lot of interest these days on Chinese only phones. Its a great phone dont get me wrong, but there are always some sacrifices on the user experience. The competition is so strong now and if the spec is not extreme (I know this is edged to the cameras) I doubt anyone would have real interest buying it. Also it is very hard to resell especially here in the UK. Good review though. 👍
Oh I agree and yes to the resell value. This whole video will be a loss, buying it to review then selling it for a low amount due to no interest.
Cheapest 1tb phone at the moment
I think honor x50 gt is equally as cheap ?
Has use this phone for a week. The things i don't like is the delay in notifications. Did all setting and yet still got some delays. But this phone is solid.
Yeah got that to, but the powering off under stress tests has me worried, nobody else seems to have this issue. The phone is defiantly solid, great screen and build. Very good main camera. Weak in the video dept I found.
@@Techtablets i dont use video much so its ok for me haha bro
Do these work on carriers in the United States
Hello, what phone number do you recommend? I'm between the pixel 7 pro, pixel 8, realme 12 pro+ and z50s pro.
I mainly use it to watch movies, video games and photography.
Definitely the Z50s Pro
Z50s Pro for sure
I don’t mean to sound stupid here but what’s the difference between a 35mm lens and a 35mm sensor? I thought, wrongly, this phone had a full frame sensor, clearly I was wrong - can someone explain the difference?
thanks for this review!
I use Nubia Z50 Ultra and I love it's camera capabilities (I love making photos)!
Overall not ideal flagship smartphone however it has "a cherry on the cake": unique design, under display selfie camera and 35 mm camera.
As regards Nubia z50s pro - it looks like next generation of Z40s pro, makes no sense to upgrade for me, waiting for Z60 Ultra with upgraded telephoto lens!
Yes it's not worth the upgrade from the Z50 Ultra.
Has it got VOLTE on 4G, needed in Australia now
Is it comparable to Vivo x90 pro plus?
I don't get why Chinese phones don't put 4k60? I really don't get it? Can you make a segment or video about it?
the global version of this phone is currently on sale, $600 for the 12/1T variant.
it's too tempting but I'm having a 2nd thought bec zte sucks with their software support.
Those animations are noice
Can you review the global rom because it’s already released
Got an email from Nubia today with a $30 coupon, it is now being sold on the US Amazon site but I'm loving my Pixel 8 Pro but I do love the look of this.
Some more classic techtablets video 😊
Yes, hope you like it!
@@Techtabletsnot even..over heating is something i hate on a smartphone. Its a game breaker for me. I really lked it putting aside no headphone jack or sd card slot.
I believe more phones should include 4k@120fps , the purpose of a 120fps video is slow motion, right ? I believe snapdragon 8 gen 2 has more than enough power to do that , Sony, Asus and Oneplus have been doing it since snapdragon 888 if I am not mistaken
Yes for slow motion so you can slow it to 60fps or 30fps and it looks great but the qualify is quite meh at 120 fps doesn't seem like it's actually 4k but more like QHD upscaled.
Okay, 35mm is the lens's focal length (equivalent). Wasn't sure what phone cameras usually are -- i see my Pixel 6a main camera is 27mm (which is wider)
Was initially a bit confused cause regular film, and full-frame digital sensor are 35mm
Yes most are 24mm-27mm, my S23 Ultra is 24mm much wider. Some people might be put off from the focal length coming from a Samsung or Apple. But for portraits it the lens I would go for and it's in a phone which is great. Main camera is very good and they are working on a 1-inch sensor model of this phone (rumored)
@@Techtablets sounds impressive, thanks
@@sdrtcacgnrjrc me too!
Considering how limited in design options for these candy bar touch phones one can’t quite really say one phone copied its looks from the other, innit?
Love these random crazy High-end phones. If only they had global variants. I've read some of them have random issues like not being able to use different diallers and such.
Well I can't use Nova launcher set as the default home launcher. It's not listed as an option.
How about Bands and gpay I've read some Chinese phones even though you can get the play store and g apps don't work with gpay. Nice marina BTW, cool place
@@Techtablets Ohh man those kinds of things are deal breakers 😢 Great review though, thank you!
Was z50 available outside china? This one exactly the same
35mm should be the standard for main smartphone lens that's a proper focal length
13mm 125 degree up to 80mm 2.3X optical zoom is really giving variety choices to user. 4k 120fps is rare as well. nubia z50 had 8k macro video recording, hopefully this one also supports it as well. usb 3.1 with display out is great and usually not seen in phones below 800$. flicker option in usb debugging can help for some people's eyes strains. street mode is the one that their team optimized and with gcam shots that focused youtuber parikov Matvey on nubia phones released video, greater result were achieved. I had seen 1inch video released from their leaders in nubia team but if only they would've used 6000-7000mah, wireless charging, better thicker cooling system, 3,5 jack to compensate for the camera bump of 2cm and as a result, gives it less stick out on the whole package , I believe many users will have accept it as win solution and a unique phone to consider buying for years.
That would be good to see, I really like what they have done here but the software especially cameras optimization's still need a lot of work.
Looks a lot like the z40s pro (8+ gen 1). Did you not have a copy to compare? The 5g is working on the z40s pro. And the heat is no problem. Only the 90Hz refresh rate is missing... and the marvelous 35mm camera. Use "Set edit" to change to your language to your liking in both models
Sorry I don't have the older Z40S Pro. I wish I had 5G but 4G is working on so I can live with it.
Hi. Does it supports 3rd party launchers ?
hello, looks beautifull. Do you think its better to go for the nubia Z50 ultra?
No
I agree it's not I think.

iphone 14 or z50s pro
which camera better
I just bought the global version and the only thing that bothers me is the scroll speed. My past phone was a Poco X4 and I have been able to put them side to side performing some normal scroll and when the Z50s scrolls through a list of 7 videos, the Poco scrolls up to the double. I don't know if it is a thing with my phone in particular or is its normal behavior. Can you help me with this? Thank you
You can change the scroll speed in the developer settings
You should have used a white wallpaper to show the bezels
Please review the new Mate 60 Pro :D
Nubia z50s Pro o Xiaomi 13?
I literally just bought this phone for just over £500. 1tb storage 16gb RAM white marble version. Top specs and performance for such a low price. VERY impressive from ZTE/Nubia
Wow such a good price for the spec, hope you like it!
@@Techtablets worth every penny thanks for reviewing the phones that other reviewers won't even bother with. Keep up the good work!
marble with version looks fantastic compared to others. gcam & changing sharpness helps in camera output

The screen gorilla glass or no?
compare it with 1 inch camera , that was the main advantage they have advertised calling it more than a 1 inch sensor
For some reason my phone does not have Nubia gallery app
Does it support video out via its USB port?
Yes
Nubia Z50 PRO cost $530 usd in the Philippines while the standard Z50 only cost $390 usd I really hate it's curved glass.
Both are applicable with a -$20 voucher.
Handsome looking phone especiall the back... The red accents are really nice.
Yes I think this phone looks great. I would love to see improvements to the video software and selfie. Then it would be a keeper for me!
A great effort on your part. Do Nubia phones have hidden applications?
No they don't, why?
Very surprised by the fact that the selfie cam does not support any EIS. Maybe this will be fixed by an update.
Got several updates already no EIS still. Very weird.
Yes a lot of Chinese brands are like this they simply don't care about selfie cameras much or video from it.
Would you switch from 14 pro max to this nubia?
Hmm I wouldn't the iPhone 14 Pro max has better video and OS plus performance.
Pls do one with ztp ultra
35MM main!!! Ok I like that by default Shame about no shutter button, a miss I think
Yes the 35mm is very cool this focal length I love it. We get the camera mode switch but yes I shutter button would have been awesome on it.
i bought it. its essentially the axon 30 ultra... minus 1 camera but all the same issues... paid $599 for the 12gb ram 1tb storage version $641 after tax. the audio quality is 100% better! the 30 ultra had noise canceling that was just god awful. big issue now for people is you CAN NOT SAVE SLOW MOTION VIDEOS ( just like the 30 ultra) you can slide the bars making your video all day long but there is no physical way to save it afterward .... this has been a thing zte has been doing a looong time now an they dont care about fixing it. it is a 12mp at that... im stuck still on xiaomi's 27/108mp cams cuz actual detail. 12mp is just outdated. the zoom lens for nightmode is bad... really bad 10 pics in a row an it just wont focus at all. if a leaf falls in front of you when your recording EVERYTHING behind it goes blurry like bokeh... its annoying even if it fell to the corner camera still focuses on it blurring everything else. screen recording is not good either... tried it 4 times an each one the audio doesnt match the video its 2 seconds behind at best 5 at worst . this is after the 1 update i got. interestingly with stabilization off you dont get 4k 60 its about 4k 52-4k 57 so it doesnt get ''that look'' to it you want. stabilization on it does get 4k60... it shouldnt because its cropped so frames are missing an looks the same as unstablized version . over all though its a pretty good phone even with other issues
Please make a video for Nubia z60 ultra
I would have but they changed their minds on sending me one. Originally they said yes but it seems this video getting 135,000 isn't enough...
I like this phone after briefly trying it. The main camera is good and also very good for pics of moving subjects. Has very good focus tracking capabilities and automatic shutter speed adjustment when it detects moving subjects. Seemed to be more reliable than Xiaomi's version anyway when comparing but I think Vivo is probably the best I've tried for this
Sony's the best at focus tracking, absolutely unbelievable AF performance but yeah Vivo's probably next best in line
Yes the Vivo X90 Pro is good at that, lately I find Xiaomi's cameras very disappointing like the 13 Ultra.
@@Techtablets Yeah, personally don't feel they have made that much progress since the Xiaomi 11 ultra whereas others like Vivo have improved a lot and are bringing their own ISP. Seems like others have at least caught up or even surpassed them
@@govardhanposina17 Thanks for that info. Never tried a Sony phone personally
@@eoin4597 yeah they basically ported over the mirrorless camera AF tech over to the phones, it's unreal, too bad the rest of the camera software is pretty undercooked, don't get me wrong, it's more manual controls oriented but it absolutely does not work out for a point and shoot setup which I believe most of us phone camera enthusiasts will need
Can I use Google Pay with it?
sure
No global versions 😔
This Nubia phone is really interesting, and in fact I prefer more flat displays over curved displays. The back of the phone is top. I really love this camera style finish. Specs are very good. Price is nice, for a flagship. Unfortunately those bugs with the camera are the main concern. To buy this phone, you need to be sure they fix such issues. The problem it's a Chinese phone and it's not for everyone to check on forums for software updates fixing these kind of bugs. A 1" sensor would be super cool, but then you also need a better zoom sensor, because a 8MP non periscope zoom sensor, is very poor, not to mention the poor quality of the front facing camera. There's not perfect phone, but if they only fixed those bugs, this phone could be very appealing for many, outside the Chinese market!
Yes if they fixed the bugs, improved the front camera they could be really onto something with this 35mm lens, the whole style of it is really good. Some find the zoom camera is good. I don't really only at 80mm but anything over that it's poor.
Zte núbia z50s vs zte axon 40 ultra camera comparison!!!!! Batle of 35mm
Shame that there is no global version of the phone it looks stunning
I know this needs a global release.
There's a Global ROM version of this phone. I'm still choosing between the Z50 or Z50S Pro. The Z50S Pro 1TB is like $190 more than the Z50 256GB. Not sure which one to get tbh. Both are offered with a Global ROM.

Fair enough!

Hey is this a great deal for 530 euros?

I think every flagship should come with 35mm primary camera. It doesn't make much sense to have a 12mm then a 24mm. 12mm. 35mm, 70mm will be perfect. Also a fourth 120mm on ultra flagships
Yes!!! Yes I 100% agree with you on this 24mm of my S23 Ultra is just too wide, it needs a 35mm! I hope more brands will adopt this Nubia approach using 35mm I don't under stand why it's not more mainstream!
