This is really amazing playing. This is one of the most difficult pieces in the trombone repertoire originally written for Robert Marsteller who was principal trombone in the LA Philharmonic. She doesn't play the very beautiful 2nd movement which is written very high (but beautifully). Leave that for another time.
fantastic! i'm also very impressed with the accompanist... she's turning her own pages! i miss the slow section also, but she looks very comfortable the entire time, she might as well be playing slow haha
@amrein Of course I am not an specialist, you are, you are the best and your recordings are perfect! Amazing! Unbelievable! Specially when you can not center the low notes but hey, whom am I to tell you nothing. You are the best Yes... all your recordings are so musical and amazing, you should put them in a DVD and publish it! I am sure they will give you some prize for it :) Good Luck and nice talking to you.
I think this Video is great! Also the slow section it is not played because this video is for a Korean professional 1st round orchestra audition and it was not required. Musical or not (I think that is a personal taste), I like to invite Mr. Amrein to record it and to show us how should be done :). She just graduated and made this video, hum, I am sure many people agree that it is great including Mr. Alessi. Of course it can be better, but come on! I hope to see soon Mr. Amrein Creston video.
@amrein Yes I agree with you but you said she was unmusical too and that was not nice. She has enough people in Korea teaching her and she knows about her reality, don't you worry. She has been accepted in 3 different Universities in the US with great scholarships so her classical background I think is ok, no? Of course she just graduated, she still learning, and it is why it makes her so great! I think is an inspiration for all of us to keep our practice and playing forward.
ok i quit. this is amazing. your tone is wonderful. the only thing i could say is the environment makes your recording device not pick up your sound as best it could i imagine. beautifully done!
@amrein I do not take it personally and I do not care actually, just I will tell you again. There are ways of looking at things: you can be positive and constructive or negative and destructive. You know witch one you are. As you said, million of people are here and we try to be nice, polite and encourage everybody to do better and not out of envy try to destroy or put down people as you do. I hope you can see this point and use better expressions if you like to give opinions.
Play this piece is never easy! But you can play all the notes da capo until fine not is saying that you have done this correct. The piece and music in general everybody know that is not just notes and more notes!
Wow, her sound is solid in all registers! Very fluid slide technique but it starts lacking in the end causing some of her notes to fall flat. Most likely due to this is a long and strenuous piece even though there's a lot of breaks for the soloist to recuperate. I would imagine the heels aren't helping but she does look hot in them;) Her legato is superb in the high and tenor range. I always interpreted that the high parts in this piece was to make the listener feel like the soaring.
@amrein Thanks for your advice in my tuning Maestro. You should teach us also how to play in tune by recording it and no by talking (again). Anyway, I have nothing to say about your video, because to play scales up and down with no rhythm sense is quit easy. Maybe is that the reason why you play modern music, because you can not do classical. Again, less talking and more playing and everybody wants to hear your Creston! I think people agrees more with me than with you.
@amrein you do not know her teacher first of all, so you do not what her teacher said to her. Second of all by visiting Asia does not show that you know what is going on there. And last, there are many ways to critic, and "unmusical" it is not very nice, you could say things like: "in my opinion she could be more musical". Unmusical it is not positive. In you like to be so direct, again, please make recording and after you can call her unmusical. Make sense? Thanks...
@amrein how dare you talk about music tradition... you have no idea about what these students had done in Asia. We are in 2010 no in 1777 ok? These students, they start going to classical concerts since elementary school and there are in touch with music since then. Anyway, if you apply your theory to yourself, you have nothing to say about Creston. Get real and stop being such a negative person and try to encourage students rather than critic.
This is a great performance, and I wouldn't call it conservative at all. This is much faster than the suggested tempo on the music, and she has added ornamentation that is not in the music. Also, I don't think that anyone can question whether this performance is "musical". There is not a whole lot more that can be done with this piece. It isn't exactly Mozart or Schumann.
WAYYYYYYYY too fast. This is an absolutely amazing performance but at this tempo you dont get the chance to step back and enjoy the fantasy for a musical piece and not for a Arban's exercise. Great Job though!!
OK, I'm officially blown away. Not sure what I was expecting, but when she started playing... wow.
멋지다 누나
I wish we could hear more of her (album? Videos?). She's an incredible musician and this performance is really inspiring.
Superb trombone playing, and this just shows how young people the World over have advanced on the trombone in the last decades.

This girl is siiiick. Way to represent for the trombone playing ladies.
her tone is so so good
Her lower middle range is top TOP tier! So tasty. Tone overall is better than a lot pros IMO!
Very well played. It is an inspiration for every trombone players keep studying! Bravo.
fantastic! i'm also very impressed with the accompanist... she's turning her own pages! i miss the slow section also, but she looks very comfortable the entire time, she might as well be playing slow haha
Gorgeous playing
I've never heard such a technical trombon playing

All I can say is WOW.

A monster of a piece! But she performed this beautifully; kudos to you, girl!
verrrryyyyyyy gooddddddddddd
@amrein just because it's conservative doesn't make it unmusical. i very much enjoy this if only because the notes are so damn good.
My jaw is on the floor.
Why does she skip the beautiful slow section?! My favorite part..
Thank you for the video man. Hope to become as good as her(or even better =o lol). Just gotta keep practicing.
Muito bom
Sounds good! Maybe a little fast in the beginning but great playing!
bravo
Great performance.....who is the pianist?????

Great performance!
Excellent Praying. Trombone is really hard for lady with heavy weight instrument.
Wishing yu become great teacher.
@amrein she's musical, just conservative. calling this completely unmusical is missing a lot.
haha she's hardly bigger than the trombone.
but seriously, stunning performance... really great!
oops posted two things.
That poor pianist had to go soo fast! haha
Play this piece is never easy! But you can play all the notes da capo until fine not is saying that you have done this correct. The piece and music in general everybody know that is not just notes and more notes!
this is a difficult piece for the pianist.
She skips the slow section :(
Wow, her sound is solid in all registers! Very fluid slide technique but it starts lacking in the end causing some of her notes to fall flat.

@amrein Why I have to play piano for you? No money for a pianist? Stop crying all out and just make the recording and show us ok? Thank you Maestro.

Sounds accurate to what the actual tempo is like.
