I have learned from watching these videos that it's best that I keep my feet on the ground. However, should I ever take a leave of my senses and set out to try and conquer the impossible, I want Morbid Midnight to eulogize me.
Kasey Kasum used to say, "Keep your Feet on the Ground, and your head in the stars.." , 😂 then he slixkered-foot straight into an Icelandic crevásse, then John Byner impersonated Casey's voice for THE NEXT 14 YEARS, MAN!
If u think, mountain climbing disasters are scary, try some of the cave diving disaster videos. Far higher casualty rate in cave diving than in mountaint climbing! Im a sucker for videos like this, but yeah, I learn the lesson from the mistakes and misfortunes of others. I can enjoy the mountain view just fine in a video from the safety of my home 😉
I attempted Distaghil Sar just last week. However, when got to the door of my house at about 11:00 am I was too exhausted to leave. I struggled to make myself a cup of tea so I decided to take the tea and go back to bed for an hour or so. Part of successful mountaineering is knowing your limits.
Glad you came to your senses in the end. Looks like you had been making impressive progress before deciding to save your life. Was this attempt alpine style?
I love this channel !! Im someone who dedicated my life to climbing and skiing mountains for decades and lived through it. I had some serious close calls and now im retired. Now i watch mountain climbing on TH-cam. 😂
Only just made it past the mountain’s general description and I this already sounds insane. You’d have better luck trying to get me to the bottom of the ocean than anywhere near those ridges.
You sound so tired and defeated on this one that I just wanted to pop in and say thanks for making these. I'm super excited whenever you post a new one and greatly enjoy all of them. Thank you!! ^_^
I appreciate the kind words! I have been a little more exhausted than usual the last month or so but it's definitely not because I'm burnt out of making videos or anything, it's actually just because I have two young, energetic kids at home who clearly don't value a nap as much as their dad would sometimes. I have an almost comically large list of topics for videos I want to make and I've gotten lots of good topics from viewers too, so there's plenty more in store to come! Reading comments like yours is what makes me continue to enjoy making these videos without getting burnt out; & I'm really happy that you enjoy watching them too!
@MorbidMidnight understandable. My nephew just aged out of nap times and his parents wish it'd come back before his teenage years as they needed them too. XD take care and excited for the next!
Gorgeous location! Like tigers, beautiful and not to be messed with. I am truly amazed by anyone who successfully summits Distaghil Sar, or any of the these most-dangerous peaks.
I was friends at school with Stephen Thornley. He was such a nice guy, extremely intelligent and an only child. He had a first class degree in Natural Sciences and later became a Buddhist. He was also the best Dungeon Master ever! RIP Steve
Morbid, I think I have been a fan for at least two years now, thank you for reminding me of Dirty Harry's Most Important Lesson. ... A Man's got to know his limitations. 🎉
I liked when you used to end the video by talking about the family of the deceased climbers, or a memorial built, or attempts to recover their bodies. Just sharing my opinion. Overall, I really enjoy your videos!
Yes, it’s perfect, but we also need a video in his true Aussie accent for “diversity’s” sake. There’s gotta something morbid in Aus that could use that type of narrative.
Thx for the new video...i hope you dont mind that i put the playback speed to 1.25 so i can listen comfortably...you viewers that complain should try it as the content is always worth listening to ..
When I was younger, I and my father and brother used to mountaineer up in the Sierras. Not much rock climbing, but enough to appreciate the risks these people take. while the beauty of these peaks is mesmerizing, I realize that there was never a point that I would have felt a temptation to train for an ascent. I just don't have it. At some point, you realize that and move on.
How do you even find these disasters and all the background info? I only ever find about the most famous moutains and even then I can't find too much background stuff.

This has to be the smartest and coolest comment ever left on this channel…and I’ve been subbed a very long time.
😂 lol!!
@@deenasmusicbox I'm sure it will be copy-pasta'd far into the future.

Morbid, appreciate it, my favorite sedated chronicler of mountain mayhem makes my day.
Excuse my language but this channel is a fucking hidden gem, I tell you that.
"I'm here all week". That was dad joke approved.

Good god. Look at that ridge to the summit, my feet started shaking by even looking at this picture.
MM: the 19th highest summit in the world
Me who has never climbed anything: 😤 Pwah!
guuuuuayyyeeee
That was lovely on this All Hallows Eve. Thanks again, MM.

That's a blunt ending if I've heard one. Harsh reality eh.
Yep. Nothing to do except go home.
looks like in '97 in Pakistan there was no search and rescue machinery to activate?

Ad when I start an ad 1 minute in, then 6 minutes in. I'm really started to get jaded of TH-cam. Too bad there's so much great content.
revanced

Wow, that is haunting - good choice for Halloween. Great job as always!!!
This is one of my favorite channels on TH-cam. Keep up the great work

your Jellyfish logo looks familiar here. You got it from the Monterey aquarium, very nice.
@SamuelLanghorn Haha why don't you click on it and look closer 😊

Impresionante montaña, se ve mucho más difícil de escalar que el Everest por su ruta normal, que el Cho Oyu y el Sisha Pangma
As soon as I saw K range, I knew it would be tragic
Thank YOU for another great video!

1.25 is not enough for you, double it so you stay at standard TH-cam Jackhammer speed.
So that was just it? Nobody ever went to look for the rest of the team's bodies or anything?
Oh yeah, I was going to pop up in my lunch break but I only get an hour. Should take at least an hour and a half you see. Longer if you miss the bus.
My question also. Feels like I’m missing part of the story. They just left and that’s it? No search and rescue came, nothing? 🤷🏻♀️
Thanks for creating sir morbid
THANKS!
They're waiting on the glacier, hunkering in a shallow crevasse.
You gotta be really confident to look at that mountain and think you’d survive it.
CLOSING IN ON 84k!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm afraid of heights, I won't be able to be of any help 😂✌🏽
Did they ever find the missing climbers, could they use drones to look?
love this
I'm ready!
So did the body's ever get found , very fast ending need more info.

Books and Reddit and deep drives NOT using google lol
Trade secrets
So the other group just vanished?
HAPPY HALLOWEEN 🎃
LOL in the summer… does that even exist on top of those peaks
No heliocopter sent to look for them? Nothing? No "presumed dead"?
“Honey, he’s back!”
whoa whoa
1997, and they thought it was OK to change the original plan and split up (?)
Yikes!
*long lens

First view!
blocked nose? :D
Way to much time spent before getting to the actual story on most of these videos
Since there were no women, you know you could've just preceeded the names with "which consisted of men named" followed by just their names.
