Should A Feller Feel Guilty If This Happens?

- Let's face it, some days are just more productive than others. Well actually, you probably are productive every day, it is just some days your productivity is more visible than others. @SawdustandSweatNC we have a bit of an understanding of the dynamics of being productive having spent a lifetime building stuff. Today at the log yard, it just seemed that everything fell into place. The engine ran good, the logs were of a size that made them easy to manipulate, and having a new blade on the mill surely didn't hurt. Pull up a chair, and spend a few minutes with me as we make some sawdust and mill some logs into lumber.
When I finally get my mill ( God's blessings) I will have to use winches 1st till I can make some money for a down payment on a small Used tractor.
Just my opinion, but if i had to start out without equipment to load my logs I would probably either 1. Put my deck down low as possible. However, this is not the most comfortable way to mill. Or 2. If my land permitted it, try to use a slope in my grade to help lower the angle for loading logs. Best to you.
Good advice for all of us cheers@@SawdustandSweatNC
That Walnut needs more light! clear some of the stuff around it so it can flesh out and be a grand Walnut! :D Are your blades 7 or 10 pitch?
I think they are 10. As far the Walnut, you may have something there. I hope you don't mind if I fact check this. I always appreciate advice, but when something is new to me, I like to do a little research. Hope you understand.
I think you could have gotten more logs cut if you had changed that blade earlier and made you work a good bit easier in the process.
I have not had a bit of pine on my mill yet as all I have here is hickory, different oaks and some walnut ...... sure looks quicker cutting pine
@@finniganshomestead2956 Yeah, your probably right. And right again, pine and poplar certainly mill fast if everything is dialed in.
@@SawdustandSweatNC I have milled poplar in the past. How does that compare to the pine family ..... just curious. ... my neighbor has a 30 " pine he wants rid of and I am thinking of felling it to feed my mill
@finniganshomestead2956 Poplar may be even easier. Don't have the sap to content with. 30", muscle up my friend!
you go to church someone must have chicken or horse to sell you sawdust too
Sorry, unable to understand what you are saying.
What part of NC you from?
