I know that this video is over a year old, but I just came across it, and found it very useful. I look forward to more videos like this on different features of the XT3. Thanks again.
Just got mine yesterday, the only switch I couldn't find was the focus mode. This video did the job for me thank you! Having come from a cannon it was a trick finding it on the body not the lens!
Thank you for this video! I just got my xt-3. Ive set up already a few things but I have one thing that I dont know what its called and how to change - my cam always takes three pictures with different shutter speeds (-20, 0, +20). Its a nice feature but I dont want it right now and dont remember Ive seen it in the menu. Where can I change this feature? Thx!
Wai, thank you for having posted this instructional. Would like to encourage you to carry on with more in-depth tutorials such as menu settings, setting up back button focus, setting up Quick Menu items and, at some point, best methods for starting video shooting.
I’ve only ever used Canon EOS so I was feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the knobs! I really didn’t want to feel like I was a complete beginner just because of using a new system so this was really helpful!
Do you recommend switching from Canon EOS to the XT3? The EOS has been good, but I’m not a big fan of all the controls (ISO, aperture, etc.) being on the screen. Unless I’m just missing something.
So, you have the physical knobs on top but you can still change ISO or shutter electronically? Sounds confusing. Which takes priority? Do Fuji cameras come with actual paper user manuals?
Im shooting my first wedding with an xt3 but im having troubles focusing on 2 people walking down the isle towards me, any advise with the settings or what to do ?
I love your video and it helped me a lot to get a basic understanding of my new X-T3 beyond full auto. I will never be some kind of pro photographer but this helps to get a little bit more out of the cam so thank you a lot for that!
@Dan Van D Hi, I will have the painting on a panel or wall and can do it outside when the sun is a little covered. Yes, will use a tripod. I have a XF 35mm f2 lens as well as a XF 18-55mm/2,8-4,0 lens.
Mine doesn't have the same look on the far left dial on top as yours does.. There is no "A" on that dial. There are abbreviations like CL, CH, BKT1, BLT2, Adv1, Adv2... what do I put it on as a beginner?
I have same camera but FUJIFILM XF 35mm f/2 R WR Lens. What settings do I use to be able to manual focus inside the electric view finder (eye cup)? When I use the screen then look into eye cup, it’s always blurry? Also, my lens doesn’t zoom does it? Thank for any feedback.
Thank you for the tutorial and safe me from a lot of reading up. Is precisely clear for my new camera. Appreciate if you can guide thru the back button focusing as I did for my canon SLR./robert
An interesting and informative guide to the XT3. However the comments about the jump between 1/1000 and 1/2000 being a big jump, yes it is but it is the same jump between 1/60 and 1/125, it is a doubling of exposure or in other words just one stop change
You are amazing at making such complex stuff easy to understand .......glad to have seen this video of yours . I can easily say You are one of the best 😇
Enjoyed your :2 tutorial. I have just gotten Fuji XT 3 but in my setting up it seems my image size selector is stuck on M 3:2. I have tried to get it to L3:2 but nothing seems to work no L settings show up. Any suggestions would be appreciated
Tanks Wai. Regarding the exposure controll, does it affect the quality of the pic.? For example, if I have a dark situation, instead of reducing the shutter speed “blurred pic.”, can I just increase the exposure?
Thank you for this great video. I feel so much more comfortable using my new X-T3. Can you add a tutorial on taking pictures at night with the X-T3 with sample images? Thank you!
I'm a serious amateur and considering this camera. I'm also looking at the Sony a7iii and will look at the a7000 when it comes out. Do you have any thoughts regarding the xt3 vs the a7iii for a family and general use amateur photographer?
If you are all about performance, it would say go with Sony. If you want simplicity and great color profile right out of camera, then I would say go Fuji. If its all about low light performance, go Sony. If you like the manual dials and really tactile feeling camera, go with Fuji. That about the best I can do.
Since there is a manual shutter control, how can you change the speed with the back dial? You mean you could have manual control knob set on 1/400 but then, via the back dial change it to 1/800? That sounds very confusing to have the manual knob on one setting and the actual shutter speed on something else.
Yes it's a bit weird, with the back dial, you can change the shutter speed to another number but when you change the control knob, it will override what was dialed in.
@@WaiYingLam thanks for your reply , the horizontal green line thats called exposure meter or im not quite sure , its white then it gets green if u balance it

There is a small knob on the right side of the viewfinder. If you pull on it gently, it come out a little. You can then adjust the lens so that it is in focus for you.
@@WaiYingLam Thank you so much. I found it out how to fix it . Also , if you have the choice between 2 lenses ( Fujinon 50 mm f2.0 or the Fujinon 90 mm f2.0 ,which one would you choose ?? I have already the sigma 70-200 mm , the 35mm f2.0 and the 18-55 kit lens. I hope to get a reply from you soon .

I would also compare the lenses of both systems. I’ve don’t know much about Sony glass but the Fuji XF lens line up is remarkable. If you plan to shoot video consider doing that comparison also.
Could you do some tests for hot/white pixels? I read that it's a common thing with Fuji. And I recently bought my XT3 brand new and noticed a few white pixels, and 1 dead pixel on the lcd screen. Wondering if anyone else is experiencing this. Thanks Wai!

yes with the fuji cameras, even the raw files will have some baked in settings. You can strip that out in post. In Capture One, you can set what defaults get used when you import. Hope this helps.
