      “Hello darkness, my old friend”.
Her echoing the lyrics to Paul Simon’s song, “The Sounds of Silence”, interpreting it as a reference to the latent anxiety that we all eventually experience, created a certain eerie sensation. There still remains a post pandemic isolationist sentiment lingering in our bones generating an unshakable anxious feeling, reflected in our silence. And as the song goes on to say, the “silence like a cancer grows”.

I always felt this song was relating the fear of nuclear proliferation. The 60’s peace movement was in response to the nuclear arms race. The silence represents the fear of nuclear war and the obliteration of our species.

No shade Dooby but when opening your restaurant, I thought it’d be more homy food, like the one you’ve always shared for us. I feel like your restaurant is amazing but there’s too much fancy going on that requires more. Do you, don’t hire these fancy chefs, cook what we’ve always loved to see! Make it fun for your self. I don’t even know where to start with this comment. Just because it’s a side of her you don’t know yet, doesn‘t mean that it’s not her. Also, the homey dishes are great but they are a dime a dozen in Korea, for that kind of food to be profitable you need hundreds of customers to wash through your shop, which is even more taxing, especially since all the customers want to speak to Tina and she already has her hands full with the few ones that come to Mija every night. Lastly, I feel like this is an evolution for her and while it is stressful there is also a great sense of progress and culinary and personal development for her, which this channel has always been about: moving bravely forward through life, one step at a time.

Dear Tina, I have been watching since 2 years & admiring the content in silence but been worrying for you lately.I really hope your current relationship is much happier than what meets the eye. As going by your videos it is full of red flags. I have never seen a kind glance, a loving gesture, any encouraging words from Mr ☔️. You worship him & he totally gaslights you. An otherwise strong, independent, happy girl becomes a wet cat in his presence. This anxiety & imposter syndrome lately in you is all result of how he treats you. When you utter a word in restaurant meeting he looks at you as if you don’t matter or only to give some sharp retort. Feels like he is only with you to run a restaurant, get his feet wet as prep to open something better, bigger on his own. He might be great but you too are plentiful talented & being blind in love giving him platform (last vid) on your established channel. I would say better chalk out what your share, role & responsibility in restaurant is & command respect.Motivate yourself by thinking even if he walks out of the venture one day you should be self suffice, don’t make the restaurant all about him. As for doubting yourself as leader, not many are born that way majority learn on the job. You go girl! You looked so happy when you were cooking and making TH-cam videos - sometimes simplifying our lives and goals can make us happier too and focus on the things we truly love.

She should keep going despite how she feels right now because she's embarking on a journey of personal growth. That involves voluntarily taking on hardship: choosing to run a restaurant at her age. Doing the inner work of processing all the negative emotions that come with facing life's challenges like anxiety, depression, guilt and self-doubt is part of the necessary journey to better oneself. This vlog shows that. So is choosing to get up every morning no matter how much you don't want to and putting effort into nailing down a rigid personal fitness routine. That takes discipline and will take one very far in life.
If you have anxiety, it's your job to face it, do the inner work to over come it so you can continue doing the difficult thing that gives you anxiety until it gradually goes away and the task becomes easier. Did you know better help therapists aren't even licensed therapist? They just take an online course and that's about it. My friend tried it and said her assigned therapist was judgemental and blamed her anxiety on the patient. So I really don't think people should encourage better help.

Dear Tina , it’s very normal to doubt yourself when starting on a new path /journey . No one starts out a complete professional/master / knowing it all . Gordon Ramsay , for example , was once a self-doubting trainee before his skills and work began to speak for themselves . There are other more relatable examples to give I’m sure , given that your line of work-your interests , is a mix of things, but that is a great example in and of itself I’m sure . If anyone makes you doubt yourself for being where you are at in your journey now , then they are fools . Doubt is natural and finding the wisdom and strength to focus on the bigger picture and overcome these little moments in between - moments of doubt and friction - is what will determine the growth of your path . Wishing you and Kevin the best as partners , entrepreneurs, creators , chef(s) and so on .

Grounding helps... barefoot on the grass or lay down on the grass. you can have a blanket but all the comfy rubber shoes and boots prevent us from grounding. It's a big thing for our well being.. I was just reminded of it and I went out in my socks in the middle of ( a mild ) winter and stood on the gravel in my driveway for 5 minutes and what a difference. Getting out in nature alone is Huge! xo

I know exactly how it feels so your feeling are completely valid. Have you ever tried getting blood test done? To see if you are deficient in vitamin d? That could also be a contributor. When I was going through super bad anxiety & depression, I sought out a holistic doctor who did blood test and found I was vitamin d deficient so I had to start taking it. There were other factors. Like making sure your gut is ok because everything stems from your gut. I'm no way a professional but that's stuff that I found out from my doctor. Doesn't hurt to check.
Don't forget to change up your scenery sometimes. If you are caught up in the same routine all day everyday, it can definitely bring you to depression. You are surrounded by good people. Never be afraid to ask for help. Sometimes we can't do it alone. Praying for better day ahead 🙏🏽♥️You are not alone.

I respect how doobydobap successfully shows lifes seasons and anxiety and depression. Depression and anxeity doesnt just happen once, and even after you do something fufilling and something that you are passionate doesnt mean you wont experience depression. A lot of tv shows show depression as this one time thing, you have it and then you get over it but really it s just a cycle. Dooby also shows how success and passion doesnt mean that you are satisfied. Everything in life is a cycle and it doesnt follow one plan or one spreadsheet, and struggles of life never end no matter how happy you think you are and no matter how much you think that you have found yourself. I personally am in a hard season as well and there isnt one quick solution that makes the pressure and anxiety go away, and it also doesnt mean that I am not happy with life or my plans and my passion, i am just figuring things out. So Tina, or anyone reading this know that you are not alone and know that like every season of struggles, this one will leave and fade. Life is hard, it is supposed to be, but like a good war, life is a battlefield and there are two ways that you can leave the battle. You can give up and dwell on your defeat and mistakes, or you can give it all you got and fight and win. Please for me, lets win this war.

The cautionary tale isn't of the egg and the eggplant...I'm writing this because I come here for the Dooby and want this to be a fortifying experience for you, not enervating so early on in its inception. There's being idealistic and there's being realistic when friends or lovers go into a venture together. It can seem like a great situation. However, as we all have seen, sometimes the relationship can become fractured due to the stresses of running a business, feeling responsible for others' livelihoods, financial pressures, lack of free time or mental space, lack of intimate time when all you did was get to know each other better. I sincerely wish you great success with Mija Seoul, but like other posters have mentioned, the body language between you and Kevin (and his tone) is worrisome. He's gotten his dream of being a chef in his own kitchen of his own restaurant. Your chutzpah and ability to navigate the codes/language of Korea got him that, quite speedily. He definitely wouldn't have been able to do that on his own, not even in Denmark. Again, that was enabled by your community, your YT ad dollars, your ability to source the wares in Seoul, etc. I just want to stress that sooner than later, you will need to hammer out the legal stuff with him (a la post-nup). I'm not against Kevin, he is quite talented, and he'll be fine. Just, don't let your personality and pursuits be subsumed.

    • @alex_jorge

I'm sure that there's more to the story than what's shared with Dooby's. At the same time, both Tina and Kevin are learning lessons that others have already learned (I'm a bit older) or will never learn. She's doing a pretty good job at sharing some of the in's/out's of her experiences - which is greatly appreciated. I like what you commented too - there's no easy way to say all that.
