    My wife and I just bought a 1920 Farm house, were remodeling it right now and I just got a Fisher wood stove. Can't wait to get it installed and burning wood!

      I'm installing a grandpa bear in my living room,but going back forth over the hearth pad. My floor is oak,so what size and rating pad can I use without damaging my floor?

    I have one of these also and I've got a couple things for you and others interested in these. The Grandma Bear and Grandpa Bear models were designed with double doors for people who wanted to have the doors wide open while using a screen. Purely ascetic. What isn't ascetic is the reason only the double door Fisher stoves got the 8" exhaust vent. This was thought to be needed for open screen viewing. Now here's the good part.....if you use a 8" to 6" reducer right off the stove and use all 6" stove pipe, your heat output will be exactly the same but you'll use 20-25% less wood! These stoves really shine when set up properly.

      I have the Grandpa Bear and Im currently looking for the best Chimney system. Where can I confirm this information about the 8” to 6” reducer?

      The proper word is aesthetic not ascetic.

      I've used an 8" flu with ours and it does well. I understand what the guys talkin about,but you can still get good burn times even with 8" pipe. I only burn 4-5 cord a year here in west virginia and overnight burns are easy enough to achieve,as long as your wood is well seasoned and you get your drafts set where they need to be@@murphmcbride2130

    There are more people than you think that are building new houses with wood stove capabilities. We bought a farm with a couple beat to crap single wide trailers.... now we are setting it all up the way we want and a wood stove is in our future because you can't beat a wood stove when the power goes out.

    I have the exact same wood stove and look forward to heating my condo this way this winter and have a few questions:
    1. How long do you keep the fire going to keep your house warm?
    2. How often are you adding more wood/kindling?
    3. Do you leave the doors closed or open?

    • @cdunning6988
      @cdunning6988  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      During actual winter we keep a fire 24/7 add wood every 3 or 4 hrs maybe longer at night time doors closed

      @@cdunning6988 Thank you so much for answering! I'm planning on firing it up tonight and the knobs seem to be stuck. Any tips on how to loosen them up?

    Every thing about this install is wrong. First the base needs to be thicker, second if the stove is closer than 36 inches from the wall, it has to have a heat shield installed to protect the wall.
