@jessymfwilson yea, honestly, I miss the big snow storms we used to get. I wonder if it has anything to do with the poles shifting pretty significantly in the last few years?
South GA here, If this remains accurate then I’m not gonna lie I’m actually excited to see some snow. We haven’t seen a single snowflake since 2018 down here. Of course, I hope everyone stays safe!
Our coldest time in the south is usually right around the beginning 2 weeks of February. We could even get something a little nastier. Also if you're worried about your plants remember it's not the snow that you got to worry about as much as the frost. Frost crystallizes into structures and plants cutting them from the inside out. Some Christmas lights and sheets can protect your plants but you want to make sure you take that sheet off as soon as the sun comes out. Whatever you use needs to be breathable and you need to trap some kind of heat source under that cover. Larger trees can be wrapped with Christmas lights but there's not much more you can do with them. You can also wrap the trunks with burlap or a sheet with Christmas lights in the middle if you're really worried about that specimen. Good luck to all of you that will be affected. I will probably have to deal with some ice being in Orlando but it will probably be from a freeze and it's not snowfall.
Christmas lights are usually led now which doesn't give off heat. You need incandescent lights. :) For most places, a good watering and a cover put on while it's still above freezing, will do the trick. Water releases heat when it freezes. For the deep south, nothing above ground will save your cold-sensitive greenery if it persists for a few days. Ground temps below freezing will damage the roots. Root systems operate in symbiosis with organisms acclimated to whatever climate they originate in. If they're not cold-tolerant, they will not survive the ground freezing.
@irenafarm that's a common misconception but if you ever turn on an LED bulb you will realize the base heats up but the bulb does not. Incandescent bulbs can actually burn your foliage but an LED string set still gets warm enough that it will keep your trees warm without burning them. I've been doing this for 30 years. I'm the third generation in this industry and I work with lasers on my spare time so don't tell me LEDs don't get hot. Turn your phone on and point it at your hand and tell me how long before you have to move your hand from your phone. It's the same with any string light. The heat up at the cable not the bulb
Water only works on certain crops that have a high water content already and that is to keep them from freezing. That's why we spray our orange crops and other fruit crops with water. We do not want to cause the fruit to rot and fall off. Trust me, my industry uses gigantic heaters as well as things called smudge pots to warm our fields. In rare cases do we run irrigation. It's only if we have a hard freeze coming. In situations like this where you're going to have a lot of snowfall for two or three days ice can actually cause the tree to suffocate. Your plants need to breathe
Benefits of mentioning Gainesville, FL include that I-75 passes through, the VA Hospital is here, as is the Univ of FL & a huge medical complex. Thank you.
I was down in florida a while ago and it was 50 degrees. Those people were bundled up in straight up winter coats. now that there will be actual snow on the ground... my god....

Wrap your pipes with heat tape if you can. If not shut off water and blow out with compressed air. Put antifreeze in traps. I know I am from Northern Nevada where this is common. Bring in pets ! You can die in this cold.
@@sixthickthistlestix5605 running cold water will absolutely still freeze, just takes longer and lower temps to do it. Still a good tip, but there's limits.

This pattern is how SC/NC usually gets big snows - but with the trough parked slightly north and with a big high to the northeast, funneling in polar air. That's why our snows are usually thundersnows. They seem to be getting them to the north of us, now, though. 😭

South of Boston, 7:42 PM rain, light, no snow. But winter will winter. Groceries in, cookies made, kitty in my lap purring as I type. Be safe everyone. Thank you for the excellent calm reporting.
Snowing like crazy in St. Michaels, Maryland. (Chesapeake Bay area) It's cold and freakin wiiiindy! I don't think we're going to get a whole lot of snow though....definitely not as much as we got a few weeks ago. It was about 8-9 inches. Happy Sunday everyone. Stay warm and safe.✌❄☃️🇺🇸

@InnocentPotato-pd7wi Hi there! 🙋♀️ Yes it sure will be busy, that's so awesome. I love snow and I'm so happy to see it. ❄☃️❄🛷❄🐧❄⛸❄🧣❄🧤❄
That gets the ducks feeling funky. Hopefully they slide to Florida
@@efaciler2462 lol Poor frozen duckos. Guess it will have to be central Florida or south Florida because according to Max the very northern parts of Florida/the panhandle is gonna be freezing cold and possibly snow and ice. I guess them little duckies gonna have to keep sliding right on down to Orlando or Miami or something. lolol ❄️🌨☃️🛷🦆🦆🦆🦆❄️
I recall in the late 70s, a cold snap in Florida and the orange plantations being decimated. On news shows, film clips of farmers and their pickers/staff working hard operating bonfires between trees and seeing the 1/2 inch layer of ice all over them. Golly bumps. This is going to be one for the memory books.
Oh. Good point. Buy orange juice futures
Yes, Rhett Butler. That's the American way: capitalize on a catastrophe!
Max As soon as it started snowing around 5 in central New Jersey everything froze up and my police scanner started going crazy with accidents. People don’t listen to the Governors State Emergency!!!
@@mariafongoul omg true. Also I’m in central Jersey too and WE NEED a lot of inches of snow. Every snow storm has been disappointing and only a few inches.

It’s freezing here too ^^
You are not alone! 26° feels like 15° ugh don't get old my bones hurt.
@@michellew2422 my temp is the same here. It’s gonna get colder tonight.
Yes. 2 cold. I am colder than a brass monkey 🐵
East TN.. getting Very cold as the evening goes ... snow flurries but nothing sticking!! 9° in the morning..will put my area below 0°!!!
A rare snow fall on my birthday, I have never seen snow deeper than a crusting. It has only snowed here 7 times in the last 55 years. Normally we have winter temps around 40 degrees but more likely 60 degree days. I don't think I own winter clothing, I have one jacket and one long sleeve shirt. Usually it would snow and be gone by noon. I want to know who made a deal with Heat Mizer to let us have a day of winter.
I say we bring back leg warmers! Thanks Max Snowlocity! ⛄️
Found them on Amazon!!!
Shiiit I still wear them👌
Knitting patterns a dime a dozen
@ nice! I just bought a bunch of scrunchy socks!! Seriously considering leg warmers!!
I remember wearing them a lot back in the 70's/80's!!

God help us all who are being affected by these dangerously cold temperatures...
Northern New Jersey here the snow is coming down heavy now. Stay safe everyone
Yes we got at least 6 inches here in PA. It's mostly over now, but it came down heavy this afternoon. 😮
Northeastern Illinois here, we’re always watching closely, and we take everything really seriously
The weather and climate is being manipulated, but Max wont tell you that.
Where abouts? I’m from the Rockford area.
Had to turn on the AC today in NE FL and now we are having to get ready for possible snow lol weeeeeeeird
Hello from NJ
Yes we've received our 3 to 5 inches and I'm glad that today is a Holiday (MLk's birthday) so I'm going to stay in where I fit in.

It’s so weird living in New England and the last 5 years we are getting less and less snow.
@jessymfwilson yea, honestly, I miss the big snow storms we used to get. I wonder if it has anything to do with the poles shifting pretty significantly in the last few years?
Wow metro Atlanta, Colombia ain't gonna get nothing every time we always miss
Nothing for us up here in north ga either kinda a bummer ☹️I had high hopes!
South GA here, If this remains accurate then I’m not gonna lie I’m actually excited to see some snow. We haven’t seen a single snowflake since 2018 down here. Of course, I hope everyone stays safe!
Absolutely Fascinating, Stay safe everyone, From Southern Florida 😎🌴🥶
Thanks!
Rappahannock Virginia barely saw any snow. It might get some more but I doubt it. Thanks for all your hard work.
For most places, a good watering and a cover put on while it's still above freezing, will do the trick.
Since metro Atlanta got snow last week, I'm glad we're gonna maybe sit this one out.
Benefits of mentioning Gainesville, FL include that I-75 passes through, the VA Hospital is here, as is the Univ of FL & a huge medical complex. Thank you.
I was down in florida a while ago and it was 50 degrees. Those people were bundled up in straight up winter coats. now that there will be actual snow on the ground... my god....
I’m in SRB. Yep, that was me. I moved here from Colorado, but I’m not used to cold anymore
When your weather from March to December is 80+ degrees yeah, 50 with high humidity is goddamn freezing.

Its very cold 🥶 it's something I've dealt with last couple years. Never in the south.
Wow, I get how horrible stuff like this is for the South. Up here in northern Michigan it's just winter weather, but we're used to it. Good luck everyone.
I need it to flare up bigger!!! I'm in central Ga and I want all the snow we can get!!
Excited to make a snowman in south east texas. Gunna have to Google how to do that.

Wrap your pipes with heat tape if you can. If not shut off water and blow out with compressed air. Put antifreeze in traps. I know I am from Northern Nevada where this is common. Bring in pets ! You can die in this cold.
Let your indoor faucet drip COLD water ..moving cold water won't freeze, experience from plumber❤
@@sixthickthistlestix5605 running cold water will absolutely still freeze, just takes longer and lower temps to do it. Still a good tip, but there's limits.
@@mikef825 letting hot water drip will fail, if cold water pipes freeze, no hot water, is the point

Negative. At least the heat brings life.
I'm in central Delaware. I let my dog out on his zip line and after less than 5 min. he came in with a coat of white on his back from the fast-falling snow. It's big, heavy, wet flakes at 6:00 P.M.
I've NEVER seen freezing rain literally ride the coasts like its showing , very very strange pattern
This pattern is how SC/NC usually gets big snows - but with the trough parked slightly north and with a big high to the northeast, funneling in polar air.
That's why our snows are usually thundersnows. They seem to be getting them to the north of us, now, though. 😭
