    I grew up in the 90's watching New Yankee Workshop every chance I could get. I'm thrilled to find it on TH-cam, thanks Norm!

      i can tell you this: i couldn't live without my battery-powered circular saw! so easy to use due to how much lighter it is than my much older, corded saw! i'm not a contractor; but use it around the house all the time. i wish i had it back in the 90s. same for my 12v brushless drill - so lightweight and compact for tight areas but with plenty of power for most around-the-house jobs.

    In the later 90s I invested in a large collection of Bessey Clamps because of Norm and The New Yankee Workshop using these clamps. You can never have enough clamps. I have used this collection of Bessey's for over 30 years along with a few pipe and other clamps of course. Best investment I ever made. Always the go-to clamps and the quality can not be beat. Recently needed to buy some more clamps for a large refurbishing furniture project and I was speechless at the cost of the next generation Bessey's! My old Bessey's are a family heirloom! My grandfather always said to buy the best tools you can afford at the time. He was so RIGHT! I will pass my old Bessey's as a legacy down to my grand sons!

    Teak is always the best wood for building outdoor furniture

      It's also one of the few woods that can take being left outside in winter in very cold areas, like here in Manitoba.

      Also one of the best woods for emptying your wallet! lol

    I love watching these classic NYW with Norm. That being said, the price of quality wood today and the power equipment needed for the best outcome, makes many of these project more costly than just buying the piece.

    I have left over Ipe from pedestrian bridges we planked at my work over the years. I think I have just found a project to use it on.

    hopefully Norm will make a few clips when he does his boat building project. our ski boat had teak accents she was made by the COBALT boats the only thing you did about every spring or so is re seal the wood. they had their own can of stain. my dad still has the can about a quarter to half still in it. they have gotten away from wooden accents maybe they can add some teak accents to future boats. we got compliments on her everything on her was original. we gave her up due to lack of use. that hurt. who knows maybe the co co nut 🌰 will fall just right we can own another. places like the hand rail to little accents on the bow or the ski locker lid. certain 1980’s boats from my gen can be brought back new

    Hello Mr. Morash, Beautiful table. I gather it has spent its life in your garden. Could you describe any maintenance you've needed to do to it over the years? I'd like to build one. Also, I don't have a table saw to cut dados for the splines. Do you think biscuits with water proof glue might be a good substitute for the splines?

    The AI resampling is interesting. The resolution artifacts give the video a strange look. It's a little better though.

    one small gripe is that is just plain glasses not safety glasses, no protective covering for the sides or face comformaty.(is that a word? O_o) Nontheless Norm is very capable woodworksman.

    • @philandviki
      @philandviki ปีที่แล้ว

      If I recall . It’s been a very long time . There were a few episodes early on when he states that his glasses were made from safety type glass and that’s why he wore them with none of the bigger safety glasses on . I just remember that as a younger person because he got me into woodworking and I wore glasses so it stuck out to me .now they don’t have side protection so that’s another story . I have also seen comments of his table saw safety guard and I know for a fact early on they would scroll at the bottom of the screen that the safety guard has been removed for filming purposes however it should always be used

    Teak was cheap back then, now a days it's one of the most expensive type of wood available lol.

      Yeah, and of course, Norm said that this is plantation-grown timber, which means it came from a certified, managed forest, and yes: it is oily, so always clean off any residue with acetone, before gluing up! With polyurethane glue, wet one side of all joints, to help activate the glue, and improve the foaming process.
