  • Doing a first service on a 2019 VMax 1700. Oil, Filter, and final drive service on the bike. Pretty straight forward except for the filter, that was a bitch.
    As always leave your questions in the comments.

    Next time use those same 2 pieces of plywood to raise it a bit and loose the oil plug, after loosing it, take them out, drain the oil and repeat for the filter. I know the space is really tight so I use a 2x4 by 4 inches long. Never had a problem, I use hiflofiltro (HF303) without the nut, with the same filter removal tool and again no problem but you need to make space. Another thing, Hiflofiltro and K&N's have the toughest casings so they can take a bit of damage from debris.
    Greatly enjoyed your video. Keep'em coming please.

    You can get the spindles for your swing arm to use a paddock stand, there are several available on Ebay. great video.

    To increase your grip on the filter, I had to use a rag underneath the filter wrench. It actually works but its not perfect, however it gets the job done.

    Excellent choice on the K&N oil filter. You can feel the difference by just picking one up and the installation design is second to none. I’m on my second service. Had the first service performed at 450 miles, but hoping to do my own just not exactly sure if something happened internally if I’d lose my warranty. It’s got a 4 year plus the factory 1 year. I’ve asked and was told as long as I purchased my supplies from a dealership I’d be ok.

      @@jared2661able cool bro, I just did a full service on mine because I bought it from a private seller! I trusted him but I just wanted a fresh start and I put a stainless steel reusable oil filter on it. Its great because it has a magnet inside to catch shavings and it gives the bike style underneath.

    Dump the K&N filter. Either use the Yamaha filter or a Purolator Pure One or BOSS filter only! K&N is just hype....

      No new washer. You can get away with 3-4 oil changes on the same washer before it needs replaced.

    You put the oil filter face down on a driveway. I’m sure it picked up grit and now that same grit is inside the engine😂

    • @mikesmachines9394
      @mikesmachines9394  ปีที่แล้ว

      You obviously don’t pay attention to detail OR have never installed a K&N filter.
      There is a protective plastic shrink wrap across the entire bottom of the filter right out of the box. This was still on when it was sitting on the concrete while I was talking.
      Not to mention you should always put a film of new oil on the gasket before installing which wasn’t done yet either, and would of cleaned the bottom of the filter.
      But you do you pointing out meaningless Bullshit in other people’s videos… 😂

  • @kekutherealguru
    @kekutherealguru 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Dude you have to fill the filter with oil then screw it on. And there are 2 empty threadings for your paddock stand bobbins for you to screw on.

    It's strange that an oil would differentiate between metric and standard

    • @mikesmachines9394

      @CrusaderGeneral 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mikesmachines9394 I'm trying to understand how the measurement system/convention of a machine would determine the chemical composition of an oil. It sound like a gimmick. It's almost like designing a different oil for every color of a bike..

      @@mikesmachines9394 so I did a little search, looks like Amesoil is the only oil company that sports a metric vs standard oil. Either they are on to something, or its a gimmick..

      I believe that metric doesn’t have friction modifiers for clutch performance. Harleys don’t use engine oil for the transmission?
