The switch version and PC mod that allows you to use all weapons makes this party extra crazy
the Switch version is insane, its a criminal its not on all platforms
I wish the Switch version was just the standard scheme for all versions. I know you can mod those options on PC, but it would make things a lot more convenient, and console players are stuck.
@@leithaziz2716it’s really dumb Capcom hasn’t updated all ports yet. But knowing them it was because you have to buy DMC3 on Switch separately. They aren’t bundled.

Switch port has it but input lag is what holds it back and ruins the flow of it all.
I remember when DMC3 first came out and people on IGN and gamefaq forums had their minds collectively blown by jump canceled killer bee. From there it was weapon (particularly guns and stinger variants) switch canceling, royal guard canceling, DT explosion, etc. The game was the first character action system that just kept delivering mind blowing mechanics non stop lol

Leaving aside some details like half of the missions, half of the bosses, half of the enemies, and specially the fucking spiders that wont stop moving, yeah, dmc 3 is indeed, a masterpiece
I feel like the 2nd half after vergil 2 just kinda.....sucks
DMC3 has some of the lowest lows in the series, but the highs more than make up for them
Mission 18 is one of the best boss rushes in the genre, (and DMC3 has some fantastic bosses) the only bad part about it is the chessboard, mission 19 is fine other than Arkham, great practice mission since it’s basically just two fights with Abyss who are probably the best enemy in the game, mission 16 is a great practice mission since you have the crystal skull room but the rest of it isn’t anything to write home about, mission 15 is just ass. I’m not gonna say that final stretch of missions is good but it’s not all bad.

The 3 Vergil Fights are probably the BEST boss fights in the entire series. Especially the final one where you HAVE to use everything you know to even stand a chance aganist him. Its super hard but SUPER fun. It actually feels like a final boss. I havent had any boss top Vergil in terms of fun and difficulty. The ones that did Top him in difficulty are all bosses that bullshit their way trough you. and are unfair to fight aganist.
Ive played Ninja Gaiden on master ninja, Doom Eternal Master Level, Kingdom hearts super bosses and nothing in those games even came close to Vergil 3 on DMD.
@@MILDMONSTER1234 I have also done all KH2 and 3 data fights minus Yozora They are a breeze compared to vergil.
@@MILDMONSTER1234To be fair no Ninja Gaiden boss is really that hard (I don’t know anything about Doom or Kingdom Hearts). Alma is by far the hardest boss in the series and I would still say Beowulf is probably harder. Ninja Gaiden bosses are basically glorified knowledge checks, if you don’t know what to do they’ll stomp you but the second you figure them out they’re a joke (with the notable exception of Alma, Zedonius, and GigaDeath who just do whatever they want and theres nothing you can do about it).

I once encountered a bug where Vergil would just stand still and I Rainstormed again and again until he was defeated

Just don't look at his gameplay and play at your own pace. Know everything there is about the game, practice on simple combos and constantly improve on there.

I would love to see more DMC 4 combos, even with all its flaws it's still my favourite because of how masterful the inertia system is . And it imo has the best character design and the demons looked sick .

@@yobro6053 Agreed, DMC5's art style just doesn't look very good to me. They tried to make the environments too realistic but it clashes with the look of the characters and the over the top action. DMC4 looked fine because it wasn't trying to be realistic yet at the same time it's graphically impressive (specially the shadows).

Dante doesn't even bother to show you what one of the weapons DOES when he gets it, he just does an awesome michael jackson impression.
Also being able to beat the game in mission 1 (if you are good enough) is just hilarious.

I always find it rather fascinating how action games reached their peak in the mid 2000s and then almost everything after that became reiterations of tired-and-true formulas but with better graphics. The 6th console generation really was a special time. So much innovation at such a breakneck pace and devs working straight-up magic with the tech they had available. Ever the great video, BeeG!

For me the best part about DMC3 is that the simple individual moves still feel good to use and have unique interactions with certain enemies, while allowing for insane combos.
Y'know I expected it to end with "What people still think the combat is like" and a video of another move spam lol

This is beautiful because with how old DMC 3 is there's definitely somebody's dad out there that you can hand a controller and they'll do the character action game ewuivalent of playing a master symphony.
You what one of the best things about DMC3 is? It's that you can theoretically beat the entire game guns only, and it's STILL infinitely more entertaining than DMC2 could ever be.

I will never forget the pain I went through in dmc3 playing on dmd but I will always love this game and always come back to it
DMC1's DMD was more painful for me, mainly because in 3, I was stacked with inventory by the time I started playing DMD.
@@siegfriedc2332if you don’t use items like many choose to do they’re much closer. Still dmc1 on dmd has by a massive margin the hardest single fights with nelo 3 being about as hard as any of the other games get and nightmare 3 imo being harder than any other fight. With mundus being by far the hardest fight in the series. The thing is with the exception of those fights the rest of the game is much much easier and probably the easiest dmd with the exception of dmc4. I honestly still think dmc1 may be harder just because those fights are so insanely brutal.
@@porkwhisperer3050 I get what u mean with Nightmare. I mainly use Alastor, so I got to it not realising the trick which increases his defence if u make his weak spots red. Was a literal nightmare to beat him in that playthrough.

Bought it 4 times (disc copy, Steam, PS4, Nintendo Switch), beaten DMD for Vante and Dergil every time, got all cheevos/trophies.
And I still can't combo for shit, yet loving the game. Weapon switching totally bamboozles me, it's not rocket science but my fingers are just too slow.
Same here man (minus the buying 4 times). I’m not good at combos, at least not to this degree. I mostly just fight to survive. Still fun, but I’m not sure I wanna turn myself into… well, something like this.
I really hope enemy surfing returns at some point, it's my favourite way to end a combo in DMC3 and is useful for positioning

since I don't have access to any modern gaming systems I'm stuck with Ps2 emulation. Happy to see a combo video with original systems instead of the modded style system I don't have access to. great job!

hey Beeg, would you be interested in making more DMC3 combat guides? Is there any good place to learn more about the game? I only get to replicate a thing or two from watching better players perform, but tutorials are really helpful for getting the hang of more obtuse/nebulous tech or just how you're supposed to glue the tech together in the first place.
I played them all in a row preparing for dmc5, and even though 5 was the most fun, 3 is definitely worth remembering, even though I couldn't sink so many hours into it as to understand how to combo...
Meanwhile me who cannot do a simple combo combo at all: 😶
I know how DMC3 combat can be like but I fall into the former group unfortunately. Budokai Tenkaichi 3 OST slaps hard btw, I played that game to death with my cousins.
I still maintain that Devil May cry is what happens when you design a pve character action game as a fighting game. Ninja Gaiden is great too, but DMC just has some DEPTH that NG doesn't quite reach.

@@thonato295Most DMC3 players in the past decade don't spam 90% rebellion/beowulf. In fact, most players have combos more intricate and complex than this video )(not to discredit the uploader), since they usually combo on DT's enemies, which have resistance to stun, making them not only fall much faster, are much hard to launch and relaunch since they won't launch unless the KD/Launch value hits the threshold, which requires careful planning since you'd want the launching hit to break it.
The uploader literally tried to break the stereotype about the reb/beowulf spamming, yet you still think that way...

Combos around 9 minute mark also makes use of terrain with finesse.

Imagine thinking the next move and knowing the Launcher values, I just got to the enemy as fast as I could with Trickster and shredded them (I have no idea how I got so far in DMC, maybe I did thought the moves subconsciously?)

This has been 3 weeks ago but I do plan on wanting to performs combos like this and wanna start into this game when the switch put this game on sale. You're right, the combat _is_ amazing when you're only fighting one enemy. So, what...20% of the time? Maybe 25% if we're being generous? XD
DMC3 already has tons of skills, but there's a limit to choosing only one style and taking only two weapons in combat. It's because they didn't want a Dante's combat is get too complicated, but if you break the limits with the mod or just play the switch version whatever, you can do the INFINITE COMBOS.

I play DMC3 because those rebellion sounds got some heft behind them, that and agni rudra combos. You just can't find that in 4/5
