One thing I liked is how Alejandro Vargas spoke Spanish at realistic points in the story. Most games who have characters from other nationalities barely speak their native tongue on-screen for the sake of the player understanding them and not needing subtitles. But he speaks Spanish entirely when it's just him and his own comrades. He only uses English when he's talking to the other 141 members. That's some good attention to detail.
Honestly, feels refreshing after playing through games like Forza Horizon 5 or Assassin's Creed, where the foreign language cast dives in and out of their native tongue at random moments.
This is definitely needed. I hate how characters in the MW reboot, Cold War, and Vanguard campaigns all spoke English when no English speakers were around. Completely throws off the immersion.
One thing I love is that the OG MW2 really does reflect the bombastic michael bay military action movies of the early 2000s and 90s into one, where the current ones reflect the ones from the 2010 onwards, like as you said Narcos, Sicario, Jack Ryan and Zero Dark Thirty
Funny that you mentioned Bay. I always seen similarity between 1 and 2 parts of OG Modern Warfare and Bay Transformers. First MW and Transformers were released in 2007, and their sequels came two years later. In each case, sequel was just more of the same, trying to outdone the original in terms of action, explosions etc. In each case i prefer the first part :)
I’m almost positive there were shades of Lone Survivor in that Las Almas mission where you have to retreat downhill as you’re being chased by the Mexican Army.
Someone had pointed out the tonal shift in another video, where you went from being a ww2 or ww3 army grunt to being a highly specialized murder weapon. I honestly prefer the "tacticool" approach but with the gameplay of earlier entries.
I do wish more Campaigns would be like the Shadow Company mission with just another grunt like Dipaolo. We're getting saturated with elite operative type team narratives that I start to miss the times of MoH and COD where you're a participant to the overarching plot rather than spearheading it. That's what I think made MW2 so engaging by playing as Allen and Ramirez because there's a nice contrast between a guy stopping a nuke launch to a guy covering the evac of troops/civilians from the Washington Monument.
This is what's COD's been missing ever since COD Ghosts but no people want only lame ass tactikewl superheroes with cringy quips like its a marvel movie
THANK YOU!!! I WAS LOOKING FOR THIS COMMENT FOR SO LONG, FINALLY SOMEONE GETS ME everything u just said was PERFECT🤝🤝 I love the special forces missions but what made MW2 (2009) so special was the US Army rangers missions and the whole DC phase. This game felt more like a Black Ops game rather than MW.
@@RiBA__ I love the Wolverines mission because the soldiers would actually make callouts to eachother. "Davis - foot soldiers at Tacos to Go!" I tried my best to keep the NPCs alive
@@thatonefpsgamer1339 Your reading comprehension needs work. Dude never shared an opinion on CoD, just said he agrees with Gman's intro. Which if you watched, wasn't a CoD hate-fest.

I can't believe out of all of the campaigns IGN gave extremely good reviews for COD, they gave this one a 6 out of 10. To me this was an 8.5 or 9 out of 10 and definitely one of the best they've ever made.
A 9? you are joking right? the ai and the whole shitty designed chase mission, the awful crafting that they use in the last mission again for the SECOND time, with that joke of an ending, a 9? then what would you rate OG MW 1 2 3 or BO 1 2 or even COD 2? 13s and 14??
For some reason this and MW2019's campaign scratches an itch no other game can, like a properly engrossing special forces game that feels realistic but really isn't. I don't know how to describe it, it's properly badass, and insanely beautiful. As a previous comment said too, Vargas speaking in Spanish when he's with his Spanish partner was brilliant, it added to the immersion.
Yeah it's weird. Both are games that are super immersive at many moments but if you think about it, you can't really call neither of them realistic, because they're not. Really hard to get this balance right.
@@jfv2312 I think both 2019 and MW 2 feel like they belong in the same genre of "pseudo-realistic" special forces /spy media like the Bourne franchise and anything with Tom Clancy's name on it. On the surface the attention to realistic detail is really good, but the people and events/action sequences fall well within "fantastic reality" (eg. someone actually jumping between cars, mowing down platoons of soldiers etc.).
I don't know if you're going to mention this but this campaign reminds me of Titanfall 2, with each mission featuring a new gameplay element to keep track of, beyond the set pieces. Also I like the character dynamics. The jury's still out on Ghost's redesign but I like his characterization here moreso than the original, mostly because it has more room to breathe. Same with Soap, Gaz and even Laswell. They even have dialogue options, not to affect the story but to further allow for building character, just like TF|2
I agree i feel like ghost in og mw was a wasted potential i remember more soap and price because they did memorable stuff and we know there background i think Chernov is a more interesting character than og ghost
After my friends played/watched each other play this campaign it was a very easy sell to get the lads to watch Sicario, felt like a perfect shot/chaser
As a huge fan of Sicario, this campaign was absolutely perfect for me. It’s cool to draw some parallels between the two, without MW just feeling like a rip off
@@0jutai MW2022 gave me Sicario, GTA, Mad Max, first Far Cry and few other games or movies vibes....in a good way, not feeling like a rip off, but drawing inspiration to prove you can still inject something new in this kind of stories.
There's a minute detail in mw2 reboot in which if you aim your weapons on your allies , the character will put his weapon down to avoid flagging his mates .
Theres also a new feature for pistols taking the phrase "switching to your sidearm is faster than reloading" to a new level. When you have a long gun equipped and switch to a pistol your character wont put your long gun away, he only rests it on his body and pulls out his pistol one handed. Which is pretty cool.
@@awacsrazgriz967 This sidearm switching feature is a perk that you apply to your pistol so unfortunately it's not there 100% of the time. It's still very cool that it's in the game though and it saved my ass a lot in the multiplayer beta.
@@awacsrazgriz967 Yeah, I've heard that it's a weapon perk unfortunately. Though I guess that means we just gotta hope we don't need to level the gun up to 20 or something just to unlock it.
The argument with live action and motion capture, I personally feel you still want to be within the game. Instead of just jumping to a movie or snippet , it helps you stay grounded within the game
I just love the chemistry between the Characters and its great that they didnt escalate everything like they did in the old games. It gives everything a more realistic and grounded approach. Had so much fun playing the campaign and cant wait to get into the MP part.
I absolutely love the fact you make all the people smile in the thumbnail, I don't know if you do it on purpose or not but all these horribly sad and miserable people smiling is kinda nice to look at
I prefer in-engine cutscenes myself. Even though they are of a higher quality than the gameplay. I feel that full motion video cutscenes would be even more jarring when it transitions to the gameplay.
I prefer them to live action as well, although real time rendered cut scenes are always the best in my opinion. Doesn't take you out of the game at all and you don't have to deal with the over-compressed low res mess that we usually get with per-rendered or live action cut scenes. I also really can't wrap my head around what they were thinking with the insane film grain in the cut scenes. Looked like an early phone camera.
Imagine the time and money they would have to invest to make descent live action cutscenes for this. Clothes, make up, vehicles, realistic Green screen backgrounds to blend perfectly with the actors. LOL
They took a page out of Treyarch's playbook and let the character relationships play out. The banter between Price, Laswell and Gaz, the jokes between Ghost and Soap, Valeria vs Alejandro - it worked much better than MW2 2009.
I wish we could’ve seen a bit more of it though. The group was all together for like 2 missions only. We need task force 141 together for a full game so I’m hoping we get that with mw3
@@Wazam Not at all. The humor isn't over the top or at the expense of the immersion. It's actually really funny with how subtle it is and is great comic relief
@@amarson2322 Hated it the first time, blazed through it the second time, honestly not that bad once you get thr hang of the system. All they need to do is fix the ai and we are all good.
Beating Alone on Veteran feels like beating a harder mission on Grounded in TLOU. Hit and run, booby trapping bodies, diving to prone underneath things, and picking off enemies one by one all with things you crafted around the environment and sneaky weapons you looted from safes really REALLY makes me yearn for more immersive guerilla stealth gameplay. The final sequence with the armored heavies was a blast. Learning their patrol patterns, and luring them into buildings filled with traps, and picking off stragglers with takedowns and molotovs is such an experience. I recommend everyone at least try that mission on Vet or Realistic.
I loved the campaign and love how they reintegrate not only characters but also some patterns in the level design that are very much a more mature depiction of the favelas and desert missions in MW2 (2009) truly a superior CoD when it comes to presentation in story mode. I still love the steroid inducing action from 09’ but this was definitely refreshing.
@@plasma_mb3 I'm pretty sure these people only played the original when it was remastered and gobbled up the other trash COD made since after COD Ghosts.
The original mw2s plot made no sense either if you actually stop and think about it. The plot can only happen because the world doesn't operate as it logically would. Both have problems.
The last mission was incredibly anti climatic in terms of pacing - The fact the last segment is a stealth segment really slowed the game down for me, which almost makes me hope that the campaign dlc is true because it feels to me like they cut the campaign short.
I couldn't get over how Soap somehow managed to loose all of his weapons for a second time during the final mission. In Alone I could kinda forgive it but there? How?
I would wait for a sale in that case. 70 dollars for 5 hours is WAY too much when you could pay 40 dollars for Modern Warfare Remastered - the best campaign in the COD franchise. I bought MWII full price because I know the multiplayer is something I'm going to sink a lot of time into.
I would still check out the new invasion mode. Its going to be a massive TDM mode with vehicles that is both PvE and PvP. If you are looking for a more casual expericence ala Battlefield
@@FreshTillDeath56 i was on the verge of buying the game cuz im a massive fan of the history, rather than being a fan of the game itself (i dont play much shooters) , but honestly, paying US 80 just for the campaing isnt a smart choice. I already have the 2019 one (US40) and i dont play MP.
Did you ever play Cold War's campaign? I'd highly recommend it if you liked this one, the story is really good and the gameplay variety is second to none, so many good missions. It's done completely by Raven too as opposed to Treyarch. It's kind of short but definitely worth playing.
Agreed, Cold War was the most refreshing CoD campaign I played in the past decade. Wayy better than MW19, which was still good, but comparatively a one track rollercoaster.
@@winlover37 Defintely not. Cold War had good moments but felt like a generic COD campaign. MW2019 was so much more immersive, the story was better, the characters are great, and the gunplay was way more fun.
Honestly, Cold War is meh (my opinion). It's a generic game at best, it really doesn't make sense that a villain like Perseus is only in the game for 4 scenes in game. Some things in the campaign are memorable, such as the mission where you're undercover and returning to Mt. Yamantau, but thats really about it. Campaign wise its a massive step backwards... in my opinion.
@@hughjass69933 Hard disagree, which is fine no hate. MW19 was fun, the presentation is incredible, but it was pretty forgettable for me. It tried way too hard to be shocking and outside of a few good set pieces it was just mind numbing shooty shooty. Which is fine, but not enough to make me want to play it again. Cold War had its dull moments but I really enjoyed the exploration in Lubyanka and the Vietnam sequence. Also really enjoyed the world building and puzzle solving in the hub world. It's an RPG Lite, but way more interesting. Maybe I just like the theme more?
Personally, for someone who never played the old CoD games the 2019 release being more story driven made me super interested in the whole series. And just loved that this release had such a fantastic story as well. Felt like watching a movie and playing parts of it!
I personally I fell in love with the storytelling from OG MW, and I have played every campaign since then (except Black Ops 4, of course.) I loved MW2019’s story because it felt way more grounded than the previous space opera style campaigns (which weren’t bad, but I feel COD is best when it has a seat in reality,) so MW2 keeping that grounding and still managing to evolve the story with Soap, Ghost, and Alejandro is such a pleasant surprise. After Vanguard went off the rails I was terrified they’d ruin what MW2019 built; but I am so glad that they didn’t. You should absolutely play the classics listed in the comment above me; Black Ops 1 and 2 are amazing experiences on their own.
@@mozambiquehere5903 Literally next in the recommend with this vid first time I saw. Haven't watched it. I kinda understand people got different tastes and this one seems to be a bit more polarizing.
THANK YOU. I thought I was going fucking crazy cause normally with Gman I'm all ears but dude these people are lying to themselves. This campaign sucked hands down I don't even really care to finish it. Between the aggravating armored units, bullshit mission fails, absolutely useless teammates and cringy as fuck dialog this game feels like it was written by a middle schooler. The flow of the missions are way off mark too and the immersion breaking moments (such as the CIA chick literally saying "THESE CARTEL GUYS" right infront of two cartel guys hanging out in the third mission) just make it worse. The original campaign knew what it was and what it wanted to be, MW2 thinks it's a realistic tactical game but it's not it just looks and sounds like one.
I haven't played a cod campaign since MW3 and decided to get back into it to relive my xbox cod lobby days and honestly loved it. But beating it on Realism was some of the most painful times I've ever had gaming only because of those assholes with armor. Overall really liked it and can't wait to get into the MP in the larger player count modes.
Yeah those armored units are a pain in the ass if you dont have a sniper rifle or explosives. Having to dump whole mags into them while you yourself die in 1-2 shots is nuts.
Yep, the campaign is definitely a return to form for the series. Loved (almost) every minute of it. It's great to see that they're keeping the single player campaign alive, as it's something I've always enjoyed in the series.
The reason you can’t look down certain sights under night vision is because of the way the goggles focus, if something is too close, it’ll appear blurry.
The COD 2019 was absolutely fantastic, especially the penultimate mission where you're essentially left to your own devices. Huge Splinter Cell vibes. Absolutely brilliant!
I really enjoyed this campaign, Vargas was awesome, graves was interesting the writing A+. My biggest gripe is the armoured enemies they took alot of bullets
I finished the campaign on Veteran on my 2nd play-through last night. Although it was a little stressful, I thought it was a good enough challenge. The campaign itself, I thought was pretty great. I liked the addition of Alejandro and his squad of Los Vaqueros of the Mexican Special Forces. Las Almas felt like I was in Ghost Recon Wildlands to an extent, which is hopefully an complement. Soap and Ghost felt like they were solid lads in this game as well. I can’t wait for the full release this Friday so I can try out the multiplayer, I enjoyed the beta.
Shooting the cinematics in live action would be far more expensive. You have to not only hire the VA's as actors (which costs more) but hire the background actors, staff for filming, people for firearm safety, stunt doubles, etc. Waaaaaaayyyy more costly then using the rendered models they already have
exactly , if live action was cheaper they would have done that, also its far more time consuming. The game has a full length film runtime in cinematics. It would literally be like shooting a hollywood movie. When old gen gets dropped completely in terms of support (meaning at the end of this gen) there will be no difference between cinematics and gameplay.
Man they made Shepard's voice actor be the Overlord radio guy from the original MW2. I can't say it's not appropriate but his voice doesn't feel the same without the radio static effect. I'll never be able to forget those sound bytes going "Hunter 2-1 Actual this is Overlord shoot some bad guys or whatever"
I doubt jumping on those trucks on that mission chasing the AQ convoy holding Laswell hostage was anything close to "tactical". Its a fun change of pace though.
I'm not gonna finish this video because just 10 minutes is all it took to convince me to buy this. I was 7 when the first MW2 came out, and only having a Wii, Windows Vista PC, and semi-strict parents, I never got to play it. I played it when I was 15, and it was the first COD game (campaign) I ever played. I think you sold me on this. I have never touched COD other than MW2 and never touched online COD so I might have 2 new experiences when I pick up this game.
Great video! Personally, I feel like the writers had a safe play this time around with the story; Lots of instances that had me biting my nails, only to kind of be disappointed that the tension led nowhere? Take for instance, the first mission following Alejandro, or the New Amsterdam mission. They definitely took the time to show off mechanics and new elements of gameplay that they've introduced. Take the concealing weapon mechanic, or the CIA injector-thingy-mabob. Now, both these missions, have a tiny tension point. At both points, there's an air of tension that there could be serious consequence for action, or inaction. Yet, instead of allowing these things, you sooner find yourself at a game-over screen, reloading the next checkpoint, as opposed to having your jaw drop, and everything that you think you knew swept from the table. You're best off comparing the reboot trilogy to the original, like you would compare the new Star Wars with the original trilogy. It has it's moments, it makes sure to include fan-service for those that remember or who'd played the original, but never does it come close to a No Russian. There are no twists like Loose Ends. There is no knife twirling in your 2v1 Rust match like Endgame. No 50,000 people, no 30,000 gone in the blink of an eye. Just a safe story, something to tell your kids about. The action heroes who save the day. Sad, really. Never do I expect a story like Disco Elysium out of something like Call of Duty, but-- The spirit was there, once, where'd it end up going? Maybe it's just nostalgia, maybe the industry is lacking innovators, not sure. I just know this left me wanting more, with so many different chances for them to have done so.
They are saving those high tension moments for MW3. I'm sure that in the last game they are going to include the No Russian mission, the bombings, and even more shit that results in lots of casualties and a very angry Cpt. Price
About the NVG point (spent a lot of time under PVS-31's in the marines): NVG tubes are mounted to your helmet and then reach about three to four inches off the helmet. Not only that, but NVG's project a very flat image, messaging with your depth perception, making even lining up with an optic extremely difficult. So, yeah, you rely almost entirely on IR lasers to shoot at night. Fortunately, you can see those things and engage with reasonable accuracy for quite a ways.
@@eduardosalgado1518 they do but it sucks. Also, the issue with awkwardly trying to get your tubes into position behind the sight is a million times more awkward than just using your laser (we used what are called AN/PEQ-15's).
Really loved the banter and conversations in this game. Just a couple of sections dragged on too long and the amount of visual bugs surprised me but I don’t regret playing it at all.
Loved the campaign. Easily one of the best in years. The more grounded approach and variety of missions really makes CoD feels extremely fresh. Props to IW.
Every year I get these things in Gamefly, play the campaign in one evening, send it back and forget the game ever existed. Call of Duty 2 was the last game in the series that made me replay it an insane amount of times. Glad to hear they have another good campaign this year. Nice review too! And never stop sharing your bloopers with us. I love that self deprecating humor.
Not gonna lie, I’m still burnt out on CoD since MW3. My first CoD was World at War, and I remember getting it just for the zombies mode, but I actually really enjoyed the campaign and the multiplayer. I liked it so much that I even picked up MW2 when it came out, and that was probably my favorite in the franchise. The campaign was epic, and I prestiged at least like 3 or 4 times (and then I did the same in Black Ops) I think I beat mw3, but I barely remember it, (you get to play as a dog for some parts, if I remember correctly) and I played a fair bit of the multiplayer, the survival mode thing was pretty interesting, but at the end of it, I was all Call of Dutied out. I skipped black ops 2, and whatever else until CoD: Ghosts came out, and I thought maybe I’d want to play it. So I bought it, and played it for all of maybe 3 or 4 hours. Ever since I have not wanted to play a CoD game. Doom2016 and shooters like it have been my favorites since then.
One thing, on the ghillie suit mission, you don't actually have to do the sniping part, you can just go ahead and run down to the buildings and clear the enemies from there
I think the campaign was horrible. It was full of game breaking bugs, annoying gameplay mechanics and the story was awful. There was a point where we had to chase a major terrorist leader for over three hours and when we finally captured him, they just told us that he have diplomatic immunity and we have to let him go... At that point I think I got a brainrot. The highlight of the entire campaign when we controlled Dipaolo, that mission was a pure adrenaline rush... Too bad it only lasted like 2 minutes.
Even if it's an "outdated design", I find any concept of a final boss in a CoD game an extremely welcome addition. Pretty much every CoD campaign ends in an extremely anti-climatic way, with you just walking through a corridor and the game ending (peaking at BOPs 2 with you falling through a collapsing floor and falling literally over the main antagonist). So even if its just a tank with a huge health bar, that's already better than the alternative. Even if it's frustrating, hey come on, it's the last battle in the game, it's testing all your skills and reflexes you developed through the game, it's supposed to be extra challenging.
The problem I have with these WMReboots is 2019 like BO4 was jerrie rigged to buggernet both with stupid large file sizes taking a huge chunk of disk space to install the game with no secondary installation options or the means to play the story campaign as an offline standalone experience like the previous COD games sold on Steam. If activision want to earn back the trust of their old time fans then they should released 2019 as a bonus pack alongside MW2022 at around £35-40 then I'd seriously reconsider taking the steel padlock off my wallet. But when it comes to activision it seems misdeeds & empty promises speak louder than action. I agree well thought out Boss fights should be a common stable within COD even SOF12 and (it pains me to admit even Payback) all had boss fights in em, though the 1st has objectively the best final Boss battle against a dude an iron man suit. As for the file size there's no reason for COD to be over 40gb even with its MP mode Warzone & all that other shit the vault edition & upgrade that costs three times the price of the the base game and it makes me shake my head in utter disgust. How do tell when a multi bijillion $ game studio is nothing but spineless criminal front...when they're caught red handed for trying steal artwork from an indy studio yes activision stole artwork for promotional material for 2019 from the devs of Black Powder, Red Earth.
I can agree that how you find Menendez in BO2 isn't the most creative way, however given that at least the ending has like 4 variants makes it way better. Tho I don't mind a proper boss fight in COD

COD multiplayer is honestly one of those things I wish I could get into but just can't. I know killstreaks are the game's most defining feature, but I hate how they create this "rich get richer" effect where the first team to start earning killstreaks is almost guaranteed to win. I also dislike how every gun requires a multi-hour grind to unlock all the attachments.
"It just showed a really dark vision of what America might look like if World War 3 was ever a thing, and no other game had really done anything like that before" Dude Gman....World In Conflict, spiritual successor to Ground Control 1 & 2....badass RTS. Review all of those!
Have to say I enjoyed the campaign alot, I especially enjoyed the more grounded gameplay and feel of the game. Yeah there's a few over the top moments in the game but it's nothing like it was in the originals. Graphics is another high light their really good to the point I had to remind myself this is a call of duty game, the attention to detail on the guns, animations, textures lighting etc all top notch here, though there is some technical problems with graphics sometimes like popin and LOD but those are mostly nip picks if I'm honest.
I really wanted to like this campaign and while I didn’t absolutely love the campaign from 2019, it was better than I thought it would be and better than any campaign for many years. So after 2019 came out and you had missions like clean the house and the wolfs den, I was like oh they are probably going to see how well those missions did and they’re going to make an entire campaign like that that is completely bad ass. Instead, it just absolutely sucked. Lots of sneaking around and crafting things, lots of missions where I barely get to kill anyone yet I’m handed lots of guns, a jumbled mess of a story that didn’t really make much sense, graphics that were worse than 2019, and a practical tutorial for Warzone 2. I could go on but you get the picture. Why do they always do this to us? Why do they have to make some thing better after years of junk and then immediately screw it up when they try and do a sequel? Why does everyone suck all the time these days? Video games and the video game market is already a desert to begin with so when they give us an oasis why does it have to turn out to be a goddamn Mirage?
Thanks for the review. I really appreciate that you've been keeping some of the bloopers in the video to lighten the mood. Also glad there's a CoD campaign I can be excited for once I finally get my hands on a next gen console.
Dude, I have not cared about this series in a decade, but you're drawing me back to it. It looks like this game is everything I ever wanted the series to do, and with the same-ish characters I grew attached to back in the day in a fresh, new context. Almost like it goes back to the tone of CoD 4: Modern Warfare, where even the good guys feel like dirtbags a lot of the time to complete their missions. That gritty willingness to step on toes and twist arms in order to further their objectives is something I wanted more of, as it makes the eventual victories in the plot, or even defeats, feel grounded and hard-fought regardless of the outcome. They maintain this is Modern Warfare 2 (2009) as well, but downplayed it to maintain the different tone. There was a mission that started (after the previous mission of successfully catching a guy with info they needed) where Ghost and Soap are staying behind for a while to, well, torture the guy for the info. The implications are dark, but they don't elaborate, while makes it even better in that it's more murky. Again, makes the outcome of the mission not be like a walk in the park for these guys. You seem to be on the same page as me with the soundtrack in the 2009 game. It's quality stuff, but not suited to this new tone. Doing missions and actually having them feel like missions without being amped-up to such an extent is what may have me give this a rental at the redbox. Great informative video as also, man. You've done a better job than the marketing for the game did by quite a wide margin. I didn't even know what to make of this game by the ads I saw, besides, "Oh, another one."
It’s funny I tried and tried to play this campaign for a year and got bored or just wasn’t appreciating it… then I played mw3’s campaign and immediately went back to this one and finally beat it and had a blast. That’s how terrible mw3’s campaign is…
@@sosukeaizen7028 I agree with him, too, but only because I have no idea why the game is getting so much hate. The campaign is pretty mid but the multiplayer is great. Crybaby dipshits on Reddit are calling this the worst launch since Vanguard. Who the hell actually thinks that lmao
2:45 this guy who plays Shepherd has been in so many movies, he always play someone in the military or FBI or CIA etc, and he has a crazy amount of on-screen deaths
"Let's go get the bastards" "Sergeant Randall! The guns are gone! They're not here!" "WHAT?!" "THE - GUNS - AREN'T - HERE!" Played through COD2 so many times, probably my favorite campaign in just about any game, just a hair in front of WAW.
10:43 Funny thing is there is a snakecam option in some of the levels. In the mission Recon by Fire when you are clearing out the buildings, if you look at the bottom of a door there is a prompt to use a snakecam. its crazy how many little things activision is including in these games
You've really lost your touch lately. First GTA 4 the worst GTA game of them all and now this garbage. Go re-play the original MW2 and tell me that this new one is good. I dare you.
Alejandro was great. Ended up being my favorite character in this game.
I understand your point of view, but this is a FPS game. you can't look down for subtitles and shoot enemy at the same time.
I wish there was an option to disable subtitles for all dialogue except Spanish. It would be perfect.
I would describe MWII as a less cool and more grounded MW2
Someone had pointed out the tonal shift in another video, where you went from being a ww2 or ww3 army grunt to being a highly specialized murder weapon. I honestly prefer the "tacticool" approach but with the gameplay of earlier entries.
@@KreepKarnage It would have been better if they have better scripting of the missions.

I can't believe out of all of the campaigns IGN gave extremely good reviews for COD, they gave this one a 6 out of 10. To me this was an 8.5 or 9 out of 10 and definitely one of the best they've ever made.
ign was finally right once
@@johndodo2062 Nah, feels like they misplaced the score. 6 should be a Black Ops 4 or WWII
@@0uttaS1TE black ops 4 didn’t have a campaign so a 6 out of 10 for that games campaign is a little generous. It should be a 0 for black ops 4.
A 9? you are joking right? the ai and the whole shitty designed chase mission, the awful crafting that they use in the last mission again for the SECOND time, with that joke of an ending, a 9? then what would you rate OG MW 1 2 3 or BO 1 2 or even COD 2? 13s and 14??
I mean IGN really loves COD
For some reason this and MW2019's campaign scratches an itch no other game can, like a properly engrossing special forces game that feels realistic but really isn't. I don't know how to describe it, it's properly badass, and insanely beautiful. As a previous comment said too, Vargas speaking in Spanish when he's with his Spanish partner was brilliant, it added to the immersion.
Yeah it's weird. Both are games that are super immersive at many moments but if you think about it, you can't really call neither of them realistic, because they're not. Really hard to get this balance right.
Might also want to look into the modern ghost recon games. Same "action realism" idea there too
@@jfv2312 I think both 2019 and MW 2 feel like they belong in the same genre of "pseudo-realistic" special forces /spy media like the Bourne franchise and anything with Tom Clancy's name on it.
On the surface the attention to realistic detail is really good, but the people and events/action sequences fall well within "fantastic reality" (eg. someone actually jumping between cars, mowing down platoons of soldiers etc.).
It´s the perfect middle spot. It doesn´t get to Arma levels of realism or Michael Bay levels of action, it´s that sweet spot
This explains the itch you’re talking about:

As a huge fan of Sicario, this campaign was absolutely perfect for me.

A lot of special forces guys who played the 2019 MW complained about that. Glad IW listened.

Hell try doing the gunless achievement while also on veteran, its hell
they tried too much to be like TLOU w that mission
I loved the campaign and love how they reintegrate not only characters but also some patterns in the level design that are very much a more mature depiction of the favelas and desert missions in MW2 (2009) truly a superior CoD when it comes to presentation in story mode. I still love the steroid inducing action from 09’ but this was definitely refreshing.
But it still lacked in plot

The original mw2s plot made no sense either if you actually stop and think about it. The plot can only happen because the world doesn't operate as it logically would. Both have problems.
The last mission was incredibly anti climatic in terms of pacing - The fact the last segment is a stealth segment really slowed the game down for me, which almost makes me hope that the campaign dlc is true because it feels to me like they cut the campaign short.

No
Agreed, Cold War was the most refreshing CoD campaign I played in the past decade.
Cold War had its dull moments but I really enjoyed the exploration in Lubyanka and the Vietnam sequence. Also really enjoyed the world building and puzzle solving in the hub world. It's an RPG Lite, but way more interesting. Maybe I just like the theme more?

Highly also recommend you play the old school Black Ops, BO2, WAW, MW, MW2, and MW3 campaigns. All good in there own right!

MW2 was when I checked out of the series, but I'll be damned if this doesn't look dope.

Having to dump whole mags into them while you yourself die in 1-2 shots is nuts.

Those stealth missions with armored death squads on Veteran difficulty was a nightmare.

Shooting the cinematics in live action would be far more expensive.
You have to not only hire the VA's as actors (which costs more) but hire the background actors, staff for filming, people for firearm safety, stunt doubles, etc.
Waaaaaaayyyy more costly then using the rendered models they already have
fr
exactly , if live action was cheaper they would have done that, also its far more time consuming.
It's absolutely awesome, finished it twice already on regular and realistic, I love how tactical this one feels, an easy 8.5/9 out of 10 for me!
Price
About the NVG point (spent a lot of time under PVS-31's in the marines):
NVG tubes are mounted to your helmet and then reach about three to four inches off the helmet.
Up close yeah, but most eotechs have NvG mode right?
@@eduardosalgado1518 they do but it sucks. Also, the issue with awkwardly trying to get your tubes into position behind the sight is a million times more awkward than just using your laser (we used what are called AN/PEQ-15's).

The campaign was epic, and I prestiged at least like 3 or 4 times (and then I did the same in Black Ops)
I think I beat mw3, but I barely remember it, (you get to play as a dog for some parts, if I remember correctly) and I played a fair bit of the multiplayer, the survival mode thing was pretty interesting, but at the end of it, I was all Call of Dutied out.

Also u can see enemies in plain colour (non thermal) of u zoom and try to spot them from outside the scope.
We'll never get a video game based spinoff of the movie Sicario, but this one comes close. And that's the best compliment I can give for the campaign
HYPE You uploaded it! Thank you again!
Awesome vid Gman!

Dude Gman....World In Conflict, spiritual successor to Ground Control 1 & 2....badass RTS.
That opening line was one of the funniest things I've heard in a while. Very, very nice one, @Gman.
Man one of the aspects I love the most about your videos is your always so positive and fair. Love your videos gman.
Video games and the video game market is already a desert to begin with so when they give us an oasis why does it have to turn out to be a goddamn Mirage?
its actually really funny to see your experience and take away was the exact opposite of mine LOL glad you enjoyed it
Hopefully that end game teaser cutscene means there will be a level reimagining that level in the original MW. That was a pretty cool one.
Pleasantly surprised to hear this
If u liked the campaign, your standards are pretty low. Each to his own i guess
This dude is an industry shill. He can not be taken seriously.
Thanks for the review. I really appreciate that you've been keeping some of the bloopers in the video to lighten the mood. Also glad there's a CoD campaign I can be excited for once I finally get my hands on a next gen console.
I think the “Alone” mission on Veteran will be one of those things people remember for a long time
Did the achievement for not firing a single gun on veteran, some real heart pounding shit
Nah it’ll be forgotten in a few months 🗑
Still prefer the original Blops trilogy - WaW to BO2 - tbh. But MW2 is definitely up there as one of the greater CoDs.
It’s funny I tried and tried to play this campaign for a year and got bored or just wasn’t appreciating it… then I played mw3’s campaign and immediately went back to this one and finally beat it and had a blast.
That’s how terrible mw3’s campaign is…
Mw3 (2023) is the worst call of duty campaign ever made.
@ yeah I agree
Soap: are you ugly?
Ghost: quite the opposite
So does this mean that Ghost is Ernest Khalimov
Modern Warfare (2019) campaign was much better. I thought the MW2 (2022) campaign was mid
True
Almost everybody and their grandma: "this game sucks"
Gman: "it's pretty good"
Almost makes you wonder if Gman is just a professional contrarian
@@xxkillbotxx7553 idk but I agree with him
@@sosukeaizen7028 I agree with him, too, but only because I have no idea why the game is getting so much hate. The campaign is pretty mid but the multiplayer is great. Crybaby dipshits on Reddit are calling this the worst launch since Vanguard. Who the hell actually thinks that lmao
Did we play the same game?
The armored enemies can lick my taint, pretty much a death sentence on veteran
2:45 this guy who plays Shepherd has been in so many movies, he always play someone in the military or FBI or CIA etc, and he has a crazy amount of on-screen deaths
If this campaign is good for you, you're really should played Black Ops Cold War for really good cod canpaign.
Honestly, after WaW, probably my favourite campaign in the series. It was genuinely incredible. I haven’t had so much fun in w COD game since BO2
"Let's go get the bastards"
"Sergeant Randall! The guns are gone! They're not here!"
"WHAT?!"
"THE - GUNS - AREN'T - HERE!"
Played through COD2 so many times, probably my favorite campaign in just about any game, just a hair in front of WAW.
I didn't love it but I enjoyed alot of the sniping missions. Some missions were dragging like the ac130 mission or the cartel missions 6.5/10
The best missions were the ones in Mexico honestly.
@@JoshJr98 Nah, because we would be stuck with more of the tedious stealth and crafting gameplay that honestly ruined the pacing.
10:43 Funny thing is there is a snakecam option in some of the levels. In the mission Recon by Fire when you are clearing out the buildings, if you look at the bottom of a door there is a prompt to use a snakecam. its crazy how many little things activision is including in these games
Only issues with the campaign:
- Story wasn't as awesome as it could've been
- armored enemies on veteran had me going insane
you know its gonna be a good video when gman has smiling characters in the thumbnail
Idk why, but I hated the campaign.
Same felt like a lot of ghost and it just wasn’t it I fw the mp tho
Damn, that's one hell of a throwback Gman. Soooo many good memories with first and second MW.
wow another CoD game and another Activision sponsored promotion video. CoD hasn't been good for YEARS.
Wait how is this sponsored?
@@thedoomwader because nobody would unironically like this trash
Verdansk TV tropes broke it down its scary as hell when you realise that there was an operational nuke on the map and its eventually used.
Hated it. Was terrible.
Pchooly bits - sir you are a man of culture and good taste !
You've really lost your touch lately. First GTA 4 the worst GTA game of them all and now this garbage. Go re-play the original MW2 and tell me that this new one is good. I dare you.
So many bootlickers in their echo chambers eating this bs up. No point with arguing with these clowns and people that never played the originals.
Gta 4 is not the worst. He has become better now
Me who just play through the OG trilogy in the kast few days this brought a tear to my eye.... Happy tears.
Alone on veteran actually made me feel physical pain
> gaming
> while wearing a watch
There's your problem right there
I'm glad to see someone give some love to the original sp campaigns because they were the shit of my childhood
