    Emphasising the point of this goal actually really helps explain how it got that name, like if youve ever seen a dog when they first get up to run towards you? That one stretch they do as they get up honestly looks so good on the spine us humans NEED it

    Very helpful!!! I typically avoid downdog for this very reason - this feels soooo much better with that anterior tilt! You're a life saver!

    • @oceaneo4603
      @oceaneo4603 ปีที่แล้ว

      I never do downdog without a warm up. And I'm flexible, very flexible.
      I don't understand why, we have to do this position without one, and why beginners aren't given an options.

    Aaaaaah, THANK YOU Leggings!!
    Always, in yoga they say “...as you inhale, press your thumb n forefinger into the mat...(I may be paraphrasing here, cause I’m lost in The Zone)..and on the exhale (here’s my point) lift your sits bones to the sky”
    This is when I think...lift my sits bones?!!....but....my feet, and gravity...!
    Thank you Leggings for telling it straight. Pelvic tilt, like puppy, got it.
    I’d subscribe again if I could.

  • @iamyourgreatgreatgreatgrea6291

    Love the instructions, actually never seen or even heard anyone explain this, though I've done it the way you say isn't the goal of this pose, and it has actually helped me a lot. My body is now really straight compared to before, when I had too much anterior pelvic in neutral standing position, and my entire body feels way better, so I think it's good to mention it isn't exactly bad to do it with heels completely down, unless it has some very bad effect in the long run that I don't know of.
    But keep being awesome, you are bringing up things rarely anyone talks about, which is great! 😊

    You can’t really say what’s wrong or right while doing down dog. It depends. In Ashtanga, you normally want to do the opposite, but again, it all depends!
    Listen to your body and do your down dog in a way that feels right for you.
    The only thing I agree with is that you shouldn’t focus on touching your heels to the ground, unless it feels right. Focus more on your shoulder alignment making sure you pull your shoulders away from your ears.
    Namaste 🙏

    Unfortunately this is also a way for some people to develop proximal hamstring tendinopathy, or the dreaded "yoga butt", as I learned the hard way.😭If you know you're hypermobile, consider being cautious about how much you anteriorly tilt your pelvis.🙏She sure looks great doing it though. Beautiful💙

    • @6681096
      @6681096 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yep, she has a video warning about yoga butt. You don't want to just do stretching you also need to strengthen.

    • @oceaneo4603
      @oceaneo4603 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe bending the knees, is a good option if your heel don't touch the floor.
      But I know I would have injuries if all my foot ain't touching the floor in this position.
      This is not the first I heard teachers it's ok.
      In my opinion, it's not. For all the stress you would put on your joints, and on how you missed out with an inproper downdog.
