Heya, the Undead (and other chars) here! Fantastic video, don't know how it eluded me for this long!
There's a DLC on the way right now, along a myriad of other changes. Hope you'll give that one a go, too!
Personally (and this isn't inside knowledge I got from the devs or something like that), I think this game will kick up at least a trilogy, if not a mini-franchise. It was met with pretty good sales numbers and is now even co-published by New Blood, so I'm sure there is more planned. Plus, there is just so much more you can do with the story and setting in this world, it would be a shame not to try and get more stuff fleshed out in there!

I'm glad you enjoyed my (amateur level) video review!
I've been following Blood West Closely ever since I finished it and was stoked when I found out a DLC was being made and that they had a monster design contest.
I'm hoping we see more from the franchise in the future because it has a lot of potential.

@@CarmelOP-official Oh yeah, I forgot about the contest! I'm sure there's more where that came from. :)

I'm not sure if Silver Ammo is stronger than normal ammo. While Gold Ammo mentions 100% extra damage, Silver mentions only 200% extra damage to ghost types. I always assumed it's the same damage as normal ammo to all other enemies.
The damage system is also inconsistent - the dual revolver ghosts, for example, are ghost type, but the scientist's notes say they're especially weak to Gold ammo. So Gold ammo deals more damage to them than Silver bullets in this very specific case.

I just looked it up, and you're right. Silver bullets deal 200% more damage to spirits. I was under the assumption that they'd still do some kind of bonus damage to regular enemies either way.
As for the Revolver Ghost, I didn't fight him that often so I don't have the best gauge on what works best on him. It also doesn't help that it's not listed on the wiki.

10:16 stealth is the main way to go in the first area, 2nd and 3rd guns are more advisable since you have a lot of good gear at that point and enemies also use weapons, so you can refill your ammo
stealth is mostly for the small sized enemies, bigger enemies have too much HP and deal too much damage to kill with melee

Really good review, I felt you hit the nail on the head with how the game tries to have stealth be the main glue to hold together its mix of different gameplay elements. I'm coming at the game from a ImSim-lite angle, where it felt like Hyperstrange was trying to mash Deus Ex/ System Shock 2 RPG-lite and inventory elements with a Thief-lite stealth framework for encounter design. But since the devs call it an immersive stealth FPS, its clear they want the stealth part front and centre. And that's a bit weird, considering how guns work in the game.
Maybe they could re-balance guns to dish out much more damage with each shot, making them a necessary panic option, but have ammo be more scarce and the sound of shots fired be loud as church bells, aggroing everyone in the area. Because I do agree, "stealthing" my way through the fort with a double-barreled shotgun mugshotting taffers left and right felt surreal.

I recently finished this game, and one exploit made the game really bearable for me, it's a fun game, but the death penalty can be quite frustrating and tedious.
The only way to save the game is when you quit the game, but if you press alt+f4, the game wont save your progress. if you want to avoid the pesky death penalty, just alt+f4 whenever you are killed.

    • @ZachariahJ

Was going to say this - no in-game save, only 'save and quit'. It's a skill issue - I'm a casual. I'd like to be able to save when I've cleared an area, and move on. If I get killed, and cursed, then I could go back to the save in other games, but not Blood West.
Re-spawing enemies are no fun either - you clear an area, lose some health doing it, but if you want to re-gain heath, the enemies are back and you have to do it all over again. (You can guess I don't play From Software games! I like to watch others playing them instead.)
I've tried for a few hours, but gave up from frustration. It's made for more hard-core gamers than an old fart like me! Having said that, I may try your tip and get back into it!

@@ZachariahJ I had your issue too, i learned two things, stealth in this game is bad, they can hear you crouching, but won't hear the loud gunshot, also the enemies don't follow you forever.
so what I did whenever i saw group of enemies, like three for example, I get one headshot, if others follow, I runaway, when they stop following, i go back and repeat.
Also whenever you cleared a camp, or like half of it, just "quit and save" then go back, if you made a mistake like dying, just alt-f4, then go back, the loading in this game is very quick.
I finished the game without getting even one curse flaw.
one last tip, buy the revolver "orb of night", it will carry you till the end of the game.

      Fantastic advice, Soulbro!
I loved the vibe around this game, so I got it in a recent sale, but it seems designed for gamers who play for a long time at a stretch - that's not the way I enjoy games.
I do want to continue, because it's all cool stuff - I will try your exploit and gameplay advice. But I've recently started playing Red Dead 2 - so it may take a while! ;-)
I'm not actually 'playing' RDR2 really - I'm playing an RPG with Arthur as the hero - got my honour up way high! Actively dislike the story missions, so I only touch them when I've run out of options. Bloody Micah, shooting up a town when I'd freed him without harming a soul! What a dick!
      Cheers, mate.

By giving much more Option There's no Certain Playstyle and i gonna be honest that kinda cool with people like me who love to use and do all the thing without having the Fear of Certain Build in one Run.
You also Forgot to mention Social Stealth is also a thing in this Game.
What is "Immersive Stealth" ? People keep discussing about it when try to label This Game instead of Playing it so it must be important right ?
It has been Proven Defeating Boss with only certain Type Of Weapon is Possible. while only Chaper 1 Boss is even more possible to only using Throwable like Molotov, Dynamite.
Now that you mention the OST Menu Choice, i think it make more sense that they did advertised that This Game do Support Playing this Game like a Boomer Shooter. I think it kinda answer some of the question.

    • @CarmelOP-official
      @CarmelOP-official  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

I can agree that it's nice not locking someone into a certain playstyle, but it seems like it encourages and even favors the ranged, loud playstyle. As I said if they lowered the DPS an enemy does and also lowered the amount of ammunition found/dropped it would help the "Immersive Stealth' experience.
I'll admit that I missed the Social Stealth aspect, but the game pushed me to use firearms so that's what I did.
I can tell you what immersive stealth is not. It's not the sound of shotgun blast in a small building, crawling with enemies that don't react to the sound.
I think my BIGGEST issue with the game is that they advertise it as an "Immersive Stealth Sim". If I were on they're marketing team I would advertise it as a "First Person Shooter with RPG elements with stealth options if you pursue that path", or something along those lines.

The developers describe it as "an immersive stealth FPS" so go complain to them.
