I feel like the gold dots on the otherwise blue dominoes for Rybomom is actually a rly nice touch. As you said, it does look good; but it also is a clear indicator (on top of the resin ofc; pun not intended but lovin the pun heh) of the gift comin from her Ryboson and bein somethin she wud love but with an extra bit of Rybonators style so she can gloat about her awesome son whilst wreckin face at dominoes.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought of the minis, but perhaps they get a pass because they were 3d printed, if he made a mold and cast more of them, then rolling would be required. Or that's bogus and resin is resin whether cured by UV light or chemical reaction, let the clickity-clacks roll!
I’m just thinking of all the foam structures and hot glue stuff he made back in the day rolling across the table. Giant bag of foam bricks anyone?

When I was growing up, my mom had this set of mahjong tiles and dominoes, all in this very pleasing cream porcelain, with traditional inks on the mahjong tiles and the domino pips were rainbow color-coded (I think 1 was red and so on, but the set went all the way to 9 with brown, pink, and black added onto the rainbow spectrum).
That's so cool! My mom actually loves to play Mahjong, and I thought about finding molds for that, but there is a lot MORE to have to make there. But if she wants a set, maybe I can make it happen :) Glad you like the wholesomeness! Its my favorite stuff to make
I met my birth mom ten years ago, after meeting the rest of my family, I found out my grandfather was a woodworker. He has made me a trinket chest made from cop shaped drift wood he found all over our state. My favorite though, he hand built a wagon for my kids (his only two great grandchildren) that turned out amazing

My favorite handmade gift was a dress from my grandma when I was like 6 it had kitty fabric that I picked out myself and before then I didn’t realize people made clothes. I thought they just like grew in stores or something. It was the thing that got me interested in sewing.

You ever do the pie tin with Plaster of Paris that you put your hand print in and then paint it? Definitely did that for my mom when I was 23 years old. It went along with a card that said, "Dear Mom. Thanks for all the wonderful things you've taught me over the years." The inside said, "Especially that potty training thing. That *really* came in handy."
I did do that when I was super duper young! I wonder if she still has it, that would make for a fun mold to remake my tiny little hand

The rolling part is hilarious but I would like to mention that the sound of dominoes slapping the table is in fact very important, especially when you just blocked someone from ever getting rid of that double six
I just lost my mother. She used to love playing board games with me and my siblings, she liked to win by her own merits and always made sure to play fair. That being said I still can remember how happy it made her to see us so happy to finally win. I'm so glad you cherish your mother, remember to keep doing so and spend lots of time with her. I wish I had/had been able to do the same.

Those are so cool. If you make another set, you might want to consider painting mica on the side on the dominos so you don't see the pips through the side, and it would match the back color.
No one really makes things for me, I'm the creative one. Last year I gave my mother 6 tea light holders that I painted to look like different coloured trees. Like cherry blossoms

Edit to add: We had a computer game with a boardgame called Jungle Chess, that I loved. My brother and my parents teamed up to make me an irl set! It was wood turned pieces with wood burned designs, and a wood burned board! It was epic! I still have it 15+ years later, and I am just waiting for my kids to be old enough to appreciate it.
Also, one year my parents didn't have much money for Christmas, so my mom made us kids quilts! She called them touchable, tangible love, and I treasure that too.

As for hand made gifts. Our first Valentines day together, I did not have a lot of money so I made my partner an origami flower bouquet using Starbucks straws as the stems. She loved them so much I have had to remake them twice more in the 19 years we have been together and she wants at least 1 origami flower in her wedding bouquet. So I think it was successful ;)
Here’s s wholesome little story that’s a little on theme! I had my 20th birthday while in lockdown here in NZ, so it was a bit hard to be away from my friends. My mom was amazing though and made a really nice cake that looked like my animal crossing island since I was playing that at the times! Now, we got out of lockdown not that long after my birthday, and my best friend at the time had her birthday the same month as me, just at the end, so I ended up working really hard during lockdown and making her a customised doll of her D&D character! She loved it, and even helped me do a fun little photoshoot after she opened it!
The only thing I know how to do with dominos is stand them in rows and knock down. . . Rolling them allows you to get to the clacky sound faster! Happy Birthday Rybomom!

I once got a homemade birthday cake from my best friend some years ago and its the best cake ive ever had.
It was a layerd rainbow cake with cream and fresh berries in between the layers and powered sugar on top

Hi Friend! If you end up doing more resin things like this that need cleaned up along the edges I highly recommend using a deburring tool instead of that exacto knife - super easy, comfortable and extremely low chance of cutting your thumb x)

Happy birthday, Rybomom! I love the satisfaction of giving a handmade gift, my favorite easy project was a set of wooden tea light holders I woodburned with Witcher sign symbols and stained. It's as easy as cutting a piece of wood to size, cutting a notch for a box of matches/lighter, and using a forstner bit to create a flush inset hole for the candle. Shadowboxes with preserved flowers are also a fun and easy way to make someone something sentimental and personal.
for christmas a few years ago one of my oldest friends drew me a picture of both my cats playing d&d! i smile every time i see it :)

My weirdly wholesome gift is when I asked my folks for some PJ pants for christmas, soon after I came out (transman). They uh. Did not do well at first. I may have been kicked out of the house for a year. (Gently, mostly because of my dad, and my mom was still in regular touch) but that year when I asked for PJ pants, they got me men's pants. Convenience Hole and all. I'm real glad I was alone for Christmas and I had that full break down in peace lol

My best friend made me a cocoa bomb for my birthday (just this last April!), and I very very appreciated it, I was bewildered at how it tasted so good. But then I found out that he had actually ordered me one of the most important albums on this earth to me on vinyl, but it just didn't arrive in time. Still don't know how I'm going to one up this when his birthday comes in July.

issue with the clear sides is y ou can see some of the dot pattern through them, so when drawing, you can have an idea what the tile is. So you'd have to use a bag to put them in for drawing so you can't see them

I made dominos that had little paws for my best friend for Christmas
They were a 2 coloured: purple & white with a purple shine
Then the paws that were on the purple I painted silver & the paws on the white parts I painted in purple
I used permanent metalic markers for painting the paws. I wish i could show you the result because Ithink they turned out great 😊

I would love to give my dnd friends each their own set of homemade dice. But making my masters is so disappointing. Every time there is something wrong. Edges that are not printed neatly straight but are a little concave, uneven sides after sanding.... argh!!!

These are nice, my problem is you can get a sort of view of the pips when lifted up, like you can tell if a face is a 2 or 3, 0 or 1, 4, 5, or 6 by looking at the edges though the backs are very nice

i was kinda hoping to see her reaction... them domino's look nice, i wouldnt mind making a custom set formyself either tho id probably not make them see trough, instead id want them to have a bit of a 2 tone effect between ruby/crimson and black(mica variants) so that it has that iridiscent effect
dominoes have 2 different colored dots, white and red. and the colors are important for some games.

I love making gifts when I can. It’s gotten to the point where I’ve had to restrict who got homemade gifts bc I was spending far too much time on gifts for people that I liked, but didn’t know very well lol.
One of my favorites is a cross stitched sign I made on plastic canvas for my friend with the Be More Chill album cover and the line “it’s an effed up world, but it’s a 2-player game”. Took me about half a year. Framed it and everything 😁
My best friend has been on a roll with gifting for me the last couple christmases. Two years ago she gave me a framed watercolor painting of the two of us. Last year it was a thrifted denim jacket with the asexual flag painted on the back and pins on the chest pocket (Jessica Rabbit for the Ace headcanon and Farmer of the Year pin for SDV). I absolutely love both of them ☺️
