As the brother of a cobbler in Hamilton, MT. I truly appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into these lost arts. Very nice blade and very sharp too. I appreciate your trade, sir. Be safe and God bless
Love the damascus center on this knife, super shape and sharp too boot! Always appreciate your commentary and problem solving as a project progresses. The beautiful results despite the challenges always amaze me, and prove your mastery of your art. Very impressive and inspiring, blessings to you and yours Brother!
Could you set up something like an exhaust fan working thru dust separator like an oversized cyclone collector since the air speed wouldn't be there? For your closed in grinding area.
Just an odd thought that occurred to me watching this one... Can you do a knife (or sword, or whatever) with more than one damascus pattern in it? Like, make three different billets each with their own pattern, forge-weld them together, and use that?
Beautiful knife. It looks like a snake or river flowing through the knife. Does not look like you intended to make any other kind of knife. I am picturing that knife at a campfire. The cold steel being kept in a sheath that it designed with a river or snake theme.
@@FireCreekForge after looking up that mask, I realized the 3M P100 is the same one I use now. I thought you were wearing a full face mask with a hose?
Great video as always. I'm curious, roughly how long did it take for you to create that knife? I'm a woodworker not a bladesmith but love watching you work & learning about your trade.
flexible and sharp steel is made by using spring steels and tempering to a different temperature..I forget the actual temperature but duck egg blue will make spring steel extremely springy and bendy depending on thickness.
That's mint. I've two pieces of Damascus in my garage and I'm dying to get back at forging them
One for the algorithm! I enjoy your videos and many of your finished projects are beautiful and impressive.
Love it when you take the tape off and we get to see the pattern, another beautiful blade.
Once again you released a video that solved a problem that's been sitting on my bench for a month! Thank you, kind sir!
Awesome! Great to hear.

That turned out really cool with the Damascus core.
Unreal pattern on the knife. Really enjoy watching your videos. Incredible knife from the handle to the blade.
That is a cool looking blade. I really like the folded pattern in the center😊
Nice work! Looks like an old school Bowie circa 19th century.
Way to be flexible!! That knife would be AWESOME for me to trim a brisket! I love it!
Guess I better look at your store again .lol
Your killing me with these great knives. Lol
Fantastic Barlow A+ yet again 👍👍
It turned out to be a super nice knife I really like the way the two types of steel flow too the end of the blade
Good looking knife. Crazy sharp!
Oh my. Very nice work. Thank you so much for the information and process explaination. I think I will try it on some onions.
Beautiful blade and reminiscent of a Hudson Bay design from the 1700-1800 era. I really enjoy watching you work
Yes sir. Thanks!
It turned out very nice, especially considering the serious pivot in design. Well done, sir.
Thank you sir

Like the old saying goes bladesmiths don’t make mistakes we just make smaller knives lol great beautiful blade
Hello, Colleague! I'm from Russia! You're doing good content, thanks for the video! We in Russia really like to use iron wood for knife handles!

Yep I've seen that
Definitely an awesome knife!! Problem solve an error a nothing is lost🤔 except the piece you had to cut off.🤣👍😎👻🌶️

Another great video
What respirator are you using, and are you happy with it?
Thanks! I'm currently using a 3M P100 respirator, works well.
@@FireCreekForge thank you, I'll check it out. I'm saving for one right now.

Altogether a couple days I suppose.
beautiful project as always
I wondered if it's possible to forge a flexible filleting knife or is it made in a different method

Flexible comes from the distal taper not tempering.
Setting the welds? More like UPsetting the welds… sorry, I got nothing. 😂 Still, an amazing piece.
👍🏼👍🏼
👏👏👏🤜🤛
I commented, then I liked my own comment

I commented on your comment and liked it while I also like my comment👍😎🤣👻🌶️
hand made in the USA
Yes sir
Pattern welded steel, not Damascus.
