Thank you for mentioning the weight of the boot. No other reviewer talks about that at all and that is one of the more important aspects. As a tradesman when you wear these boots for 10-12 hours a day those ounces feel like pounds. I absolutely hated the Thorogood because of the weight and my feet felt it at the end of the day. I love the Danners because of the lightweight and also Redwing 411. The durability is a non issue with any of these I have had all of them. Comfort is everything. Id rather have a boot wear out than have it be so heavy and durable that its my feet that wear out instead. Isn't that the point of boots anyway? To be the wear item instead of your own body. Doesn't work too well when boots are bricks.

DANNER by a landslide...first of all ...looks the best out of all of them and a HUGE POINT you missed.!!!...wear them for 10 -12 hours at the construction site you will see who is most comfortable......the danner bullrun so comfortable and FORGIVING .....love thorogood as well but it depends what you are looking for....are you talking about style and apperance?....or are you talking work and comfort......so depends what you are buying them for....and another point for the bigger guys the danner bullrun in the bigger sizes 14-15 have way more room in them

Then the weight would increase. And they are more comfortable than all of these boots because of the weight. The thickness of leather affects nothing. Ive worn all of these boots, Danner being the last ones Ive bought and they are by far the most comfortable.

Probably others have made similar observations...
The Thursday and Red Wings are fashion boots while the Thorogood and Danner are more real world work boots. Both the Thorogood and Danner are offered with a steel toe option.
I wear the steel toe Danner Bull Runs because I liked the fit and look better than the Thorogood boots.
I work at a mixed construction / tech site with thousands of people, where some, but not all, workers are required to wear safety toe boots/shoes and the Thorogood boots are by far the most common. I do see lots of Danner Bull Runs plus a lot of boots from Keen (They make a lot of safety toe offerings) and some others including Red Wing.
Nobody wears Thursday or Classic/ Heritage Red Wings on a large site.
      Just an observation.

Been wearing danner bull run 8" wedge soles. I've been suffering with plantar fasciitis for a year since I gave up on my thorogood moc toe wedge which destroyed my feet. No thorogood used to make fantastic work boots years ago before they went to their max wear soles now they feel like 2x4's strapped to your feet, now I've tried at least 8 pairs of boots and work shoes this year and nothing made my feet feel right, 3 different timberlands, redwing, merrell, and solovair. I bought these danners 2 months ago and my planter fasciitis is almost gone and I walk on 4 feet of concrete for a good amount of the day. They are very comfortable and mold perfectly to your foot, lightweight, and perfect for indoor factory work. I suggest danner over thorogood, if they went back to the old viabram soles then I would go back, redwings are to narrow in the toe, and i cannot vouch for thursday, my go to go out boots are some good old dr.martens 1490 English made and you cant beat the look and comfort of dms

And build and quality id good as well. When I get the work boots resoled, I will go with the Vibram Logger sole.. I am in construction and have been wearing moc toe boots for 10+ years. I have worn red wings, thorogoods, carolinas and dr marten non moc toes style on the job. Thorogood was my go to until they changed their price, but I got 3 years out of each pair, and am on year 2 with red wings. My thorogood welt cracked and damaged after 2.5 years. Red wings in my opinion were more easily worn in the sole and the upper. The carolinas didn't last and werent near as comfortable after 1 year, but to be expected at that price point. I will stick with the red wings and thorogoods depending on my chosen leather color at the time. I also like the sole options thorogood has. 1 complaint was when i resoled my red wings was they sanded some of the welt almost to the point of touching the stitches. I brought this up to them when picking them up and they said it was fine. Time will tell if that is true.

I have bought 2 pairs of Danner Bull Run and 3 pairs of Red Wing 18(whatever). None of them fit comfortably or fit my foot correctly. I wear a size 9 in sneakers and I bought a 9, & 8.5 danner. Both gave me heel blisters every time I wore them. So I was like fuck these boots and bought and 8.5, 8, and 7.5 of the Red Wings all in the span of about 4 months to try to get a boot that was comfortable and didn’t give me blisters. All of them feel like I’m wearing a 2x4 nailed to my foot. The 7.5 doesn’t slip in the heel so I guess that is the correct size but the sole also doesn’t fucking bend at all so it’s extremely uncomfortable for me. I wanted a good boot that would last a while but I literally can’t wear any of them without getting crazy blisters or just feeling super constrictive, even for for wearing them for a couple of hours walking around. And I don’t have feet problems or any issues with any other shoes. I’m about to give up. I’ve spent over $1200 in the last 9 months trying to find a boot that just fits and haven’t accomplished that yet.

I have a pair of Danner Bull Run for 5 going on 6 years now. I wear them almost every day. The leather has held up great, extremely comfortable boot. Lots of toe room. The only downside was the tread has worn out. I recently bought a pair of Thorogood, did not like them at all, very small tow box. A rather ugly boot in person. Thank goodness for amazon return policy.

  • @PumpUptheJam81

I can only rate the Danner and redwing. Thursday boot is in the mail.
Danner leather is holding up better but the boot is clunky and annoying to walk in. Never has broken in to feel like the wings.
Red wing is on second RE sole and is like wearing sneakers but it’s too narrow which is what is driving me to the Thursday.
I wore them primarily trucking for lumber mills with a flat bed. Lots of miles around a truck strapping things down, walking on gravel the trailer deck and pavement. Cleaned up for date night etc. Very versatile boots.
Not trucking anymore, so the Thursdays will have an easy life.
Not a moc but my present favorite is the grant stone diesel (unreal quality for the $). Second fave is redwing blacksmith.

ACTUALLY the best is the one you can afford that gives you best bang for buck including comfort and comfort is WAY more important that name brand or personal preference of the style.
So, if Thoro's last you 1.5 years before breaking down and RW last 2. Which one is really BEST? Considering the price you paid and how much better the break-in period was and how comfortable the boot was. I'm pretty sure you would agree the Thoro's ARE better than RW.
OF COURSE we're talking about an everyday work environment experience.
Believe it or not I can easily afford a really nice pair of White's perry or Nick's Moc. But, I choose Thoro's due to reasons above and #1 for me IS comfort. So, for that specific reason I choose Thoro's. Thursday or Danner don't even come close as for what I consider a "WORKING" MANS boot.
