- In todays video we explore an abandoned $2,500,000 Flintstones inspired mansion in the woods. this place was built for a family who owned several funeral homes in the area in the 1970s but was later abandoned in 2010 when the owner passed away and no one from the family lived anywhere near it to take over. it is said that the son gained ownership but is currently in jail s the mansion sit abandoned.

As a carpenter, I've always been enthralled by abandoned buildings. The amount of effort it took to build this structure, and all of the memories that were created there, all being engulfed by nature. It's both sad and beautiful.
PS thanks for the effort of trying to keep vandals away from places like this.

@@hongniao10 lol I'm an Atheist so I don't believe in the paranormal, but I can see how structures like this can be very ominous to some. I've explored abandoned mental hospitals and tbh I'd be more worried about getting shanked by a homeless person than ghosts

Agreed about the time and effort. I have noticed the last few years the trend in my area again to just demolish and build something cheap. This place is dated for sure, but was built so well. Too bad it probably won't be rehabbed.
a beautiful mid-century modern home! i would say this house is more in the 1960's-what a gem. those windows. that kitchen. the built ins in the bedroom. oh my gosh.

One good way to tell the age of a house is by flipping the toilet tank lid over and look for the date stamp on the lid as long as it’s an original toilet you will be close on the age of the house. All toilet tanks are dated.
I just look up the appraisal district records. It's a lot cleaner that way.

@@deedee-nz8ul - Possibly because they're too far gone. Molds are difficult to remove. Or possibly a body decomposed for a long time. My dad had to sell a house (he was a real estate agent) where a woman's corpse had been left decomposing for only a week. And even though they fumigated, you could still smell the stench a bit.

I always find abandoned buildings and homes like this eerie and beautiful at the same time. It's a certain bit of sadness knowing there was once vibrant life there and now just wasting away. It's Eerie knowing that it's just sitting there almost like it's alive with secrets from the past. I'd be afraid to enter these places, not knowing what creature could be in there.
I'm a mason for over 35 years and all I can say is that whoever it was he must have a good crew of stonemasons to do this kind of work. The work is done BEAUTIFUL and clean.
The whole house is gorgeous. Stone, hardwood lots of giant windows in the middle of a green forest. It's an amazing house !!!!
Hmmmm i wz wondering if all that stone would not be harmful to live in, like after all the years and or to asthmatics or repository issues? My grandson has asthma so all i could think was like maybe if the stone emits or sheds after all the years? Maybe a silly thought but u must have knowledge on this and I'm just curious. It's beautiful!!!!!!
@@rcastle8993 Stone and mortar is a solid product and it is NOT harmful at ALL unless cut with saw dry than the dust is dangerous and harmful.

Can’t believe some children, after all the parents hard work they just abandon the house they where raised in. And leave all their families private stuff scattered. Never I forget the hands that raised me . I’m grateful for all his blessings
Apparently the son is in prison according to this clip.
We have no way of knowing what those kids went through. The family dynamics could have been so messed up. If you go through hell growing up, you want no part of that house or belongings. Just a thought.

Just listen to the sounds of nature outside living in this house is therapeutic and the architecture is just amazing for its time. Glad this was recommended
It really upsets me to see the damage vandals do. Why can't people be respectful like these guys. Just go in look around and leave. This guy is my favorite for these abandoned home videos.. I like the way he narrates.. great job guys and as always be safe.

I'm in love with this house. If I had the means and it was in an area that I wanted to live in, I'd buy it in a second and restore it. It has such good bones. I love all of the stonework and the wood paneling is practically the same as I have in my cabin, by the looks of it. It is really thick planks of wood typically used for flooring. The main structure of this building is solid and meant to last. This house is a piece of art. I'd even keep most of the funky bathroom fixtures and I'd get a nice piece of wood to put on that table instead of the glass. Oh, the possibilities! What a shame. I hope someone buys and restores this wonderful place.
I have no clue who u are... but I completely agree!!! usually when u see these homes they are full of decay and mold. this place literally jus needs a good cleaning/paint and a electrician! the layout is insane and I'd want to keep most of it, maybe add more wall inserts/hard wood floors..toss the carpet out build a nice bar area where the pool is Have a shop with a lift to work on whatever u need to with a staircase that leads to a loft up top....yeah I could go on abt it too for hrs😅 🤣😂

The upkeep costs, as well as taxes on the property will be hundred of thousands. They might not want to sink this much money into this property.

The house is mostly stone, so it should be salvageable. Seeing all that ruined insulation on the floor makes me want to clean up the place.

Would love to see this place brought back to life. Pretty sure nothing in this world nowadays built like this. Too bad for the hefty leaks that messed up a lot but like any other abandoned place it will need work. Can only hope it gets preserved one day.
This house had to be stunning back in its day. I love all of the stonework, quartz, REAL wood “paneling,” and all of the windows showing the greenery surrounding the home.
What’s kinda crazy, is when I was a senior in high school (1992-93), in one of my classes we had to make a floor plan of a home (to scale, with proper placement of doors, windows, outlets, light switches, etc.). The house that I designed was one story, 4 bed, 3 bath and it had a pool in the backyard. It also had a formal living room, dining room, family room, kitchen, breakfast nook, laundry room, pantry, and garage. What reminded me of this house, is because in the kitchen and breakfast nook, I had stone floors, and stonework that went up on the “walls” of the countertops/cabinets; I also had the table in the breakfast nook made completely out of stone that came up out of the floor. It was all one piece. The table itself was round with the just a round post under it. And for seating, it was stone curved benches that also came out of the flooring. Then when I saw the bathroom with the orange sinks…it reminded me of the way I designed the sinks in the master bath. I had 2 sinks, but the counter was curved in front of the sinks like what they were in the orange bathroom. Very cool. I thought I did pretty darn well for a high schooler lol.
That’s a really cool house. It’s sad the family abandoned it after he passed. I wonder why they wouldn’t sell it if they didn’t want it?! I would love living there!❤️

What a unique home! So sad that it's abandoned. That green bathroom looked like a child's bathroom. The whole house style looks like a combination of the Flintstones and the Jetsons all rolled into one. A pretty cool place. A rich person could really fix that place up.

My ancle made renovations in the carpet there in 1992 I was a kid and went with him there couple of times. I was visiting from Mexico at the time. My ancle passed away so no much I can asked in regards of the mansions and the rich people he worked for. Spain, Beverly Hills bel air, amongst many are some of the places people would call him from to renovate and do high inn detail work. He hardly spoke good English but he was well known in the rich society from back then. Most are all gone or very old

It wasn’t 4ft in between each neighbor like most houses are built nowadays so I would say it looks secluded to me. He has a cool area. There’s a river on the other side of the fence also

That was an amazing tour!!!! To be a kid growing up there had to be just fun! The groovy wallpaper in the bathrooms was pretty neat!! The stone work everywhere is the main building block of the structure. You guy did a fabulous job taking up back in time to the funky sixties!! Well done!!

Considering its present condition - this house still has beauty in its structure - and that spiral staircase! Would love to see it purchased and restored by the right person.

It's amazing on how fast mother nature grows over everything when somebody's not living there and what a waste there's so much waste in the world of abandoned properties.
I absolutely loved this gorgeous property!!! Loved all of the stonework!!! Such a talented mason who created all of this!!! I would definitely live there! It isn’t for the handicapped 👎😣 Too bad that a family member couldn’t restore & save this fabulous place! I hope that someday soon, before it gets too decayed, that someone will get it & lovingly restore it, so that it will be the gorgeous showpiece that it once was! This house was no doubt built to last! Walls of rice paper, floors of stone and carpet that I will bet is wool carpet never wears out! We had a tweed color in my home place! Looked good even after 25 years! Beautiful stone through out! Makes this a self sufficient place!
That stone work in the walls is one of my favorite styles, I also see some brutalist style architecture that was in style from the 50’s till the 70’s I think. Is a great place and away from the city.

Thanks for taking the time to share the video. I find so many questions that I know will never be answered and I also find that I feel saddened because the broken homes remind me that someone’s dreams and possibly even their family is broken. As beautiful as the stone and layout of the house is I can’t help but think of the laughter and excitement that once filled those rooms and the splashing in the pool and the reasons that it’s all falling down in ruins now. My heart goes out with every toy and every photo and piece of memorabilia that I see that’s left in those places. I find my heart aches for people that I will never know or can never comfort. I’m sure it’s really hard exploring these houses also for the same reasons. I imagine seeing this in person also has its personal heart ache and the thoughts and questions you must have when you leave to drive home. Definitely not an easy thing to film and forget 😔
What I find interesting: There are posts like this in about every single abandoned home video and they always, always, always assume that the place has been full of life with goody-good families, loving and caring moms, joyful children etc. Unless the video specifically says that it was the place of murder of course. These walls could as well have witnessed decadence, abuse, neglect, lonely persons or a shallow, meaningless life with hookers and false friends. We'll never know, but apparently there is a lot of wishful thinking going on: We see something that was once (probably) beautiful and do our best to see it as positive as possible. Most likely for our own peace of mind.
These videos are a stark reminder that life is fleeting for us all and to not take one second for granted. On the bright side, at least the owner (apparently, I hope) died while still owning/living their dream in this home to the end. We would be lucky to have such a fate IMO.
This is such a groovy house. I could see myself living in it. That green bathroom with the island with two sinks were groovy too. I wonder ow much it would cost to purchase this house. I know you said that the owner was in jail but he might want to sell it. It would not take a lot of work to get this house into shape to live in. A lot of clean up and pest control. The only things that are bad but wouldn't take a whole lot of work is repairing the floor in a few places. I think giving all of the carpet a good cleaning would be helpful also.

Wow, for the 70’s that place would have been super modern… The rounded walls with shelves that followed the contour would not have been cheap, and those huge windows!
Not to mention the Stones, I would like some in my garden lol
Glad the man who built it got to enjoy it for almost 40 years, can't imagine the taxes on that let alone upkeep!!!
Taxes are 3400 per yr. 7.5 acres of land

Beautiful place and that Pine paneling is gorgeous. My daddy put that kind of paneling in our home back in the 60's and the older it get the more beautiful it is.
Hey guys. I remember footage from this house from the 80s it might’ve been on inside edition or some thing like that. If you can find that old footage you can see what it used to look like when it was new. But I totally remember seeing this house with the occupants in it back in the 80s. I tried looking for it but I can’t find it. If you find it posted it that would be cool

It's easy to see that this home was beautiful in its heyday. But it's so sad to see it deteriorating. All that stone masonry work was a labor of love

The big windows, lack of trim/ornamentation, and long horizontal lines are all modernism.
The use of local stone and wood goes back to Frank Lloyd Wright and many modern architects followed suit with the same concept.
It was radically modern in 1970.
That green bathroom is probably for kids. And I love it. The island sinks! Wow! Kids would love that!

This house deserves a full renovation and a family to bring it back to life. It is mind blowing to think it might never be occupied again.
I don't know about never. The way this house is built (mostly stone), it looks like it would be easy and not too expensive to fix what damage was shown. I've seen other mansions that were too far gone.
This would be a great start as a mansion for nouveau riche vs building from the ground up.

I love stone fireplaces..esp granite. The durability & beauty are worth the price. I grew up with one..then, when I got married.. my Hubby built a granite stone fireplace for me. It's neat to see all the architectural stone in this amazing home.

The lime green bathtub and sinks were a dead giveaway that it was built in the early 70’s… the square footage didn’t seem like much… it won’t be too easy to demolish it with all that stonework though… another interesting tour Bankz
