These guys may not be superstars but they certainly contribute more to the Lakers games than what they've been doing. That's all she was saying. 2 of the starters are not playing up to their potential therefore the Lakers aren't giving you their best. Also, look at the bench. They aren't stepping up either and that's crucial.

@@benjaminsmith2287 AR has proven this year that his capabilities aren't what they paid him for, same for Rui. Teams get tape on you and then things change unless you're really that guy. And we both agree they're not super stars. But the pressure is on the super stars because it's their job to do THEIR job EVERY NIGHT. So an Anthony Davis getting into foul trouble forces role players into HAVING to fill shoes that aren't their size. To be fair as well.. the rotations shrink in the playoffs.. so that doesn't help them get into the kind of groove you'd see in the regular season. I do think the role players need to step up.. but the stars need to close out a 20 point lead on the road.

Jamal came up clutch when they needed him to do so. Other guys put the ball in the basket enough and the whole team kept the Lakers down enough to tie and then win the game. You can have Jamal and Joker play their best and the Nuggets lose. A lot of the time, your two best players playing their best and the rest of the team well below results in losses, not wins.

Aaron Gordon didn’t shut AD down, Darvin Ham failed to give him the ball in the 2nd half. Both of those games were in the Lakers hands and they failed to close. Who is a role player on the team? Because I do expect guys who brought you to the playoffs to play up to their capabilities in some games. Basketball is best with balanced scoring so that everyone gets involved. Joy is saying the starters, especially Reaves, has to play better. Reaves is the 3rd or 4th best player on the team, depending on what night it is, so he should be expected to get more than 9 points in the game. Reaves is capable of 16/6/8 and that's what I want to see out of him. Rui is capable of at least 10 points and rebounds as well. So, Joy is not saying they should put up the type of numbers as Bron or AD or DLo on a good night, but just put up more than they are. What's so wrong with that? And has the bench done anythng beyond Prince? A really good team has a solid 6th man and the Lakers don't have that.

Agreed. But at the end of the day, this is an entertainment. They go with the people who bring in the most viewers. In order to get viewers you have to lean one side or the other. You can't be neutral anymore. Most viewers don't want honest and fact based takes. They want to hear what they want to hear. So Lebron's fans will seek any commentators who would say favorable things about their guy. And people who are not Lebron's fans want to hear people who would criticize him. So that is why most of these sports talk show only talk about topics that has the most fanbase and have one person against and one person support. It is sad that the world has gotten to but it doesn't matter because this is sports so it has no impact on people's lives. But we have this mindset for politics as well which is very bad.

They didn't play their best game. Their second half was a struggle. A bunch of guys on their team didn't play up to their capabilities. If Rui plays up to his capabilities, the Lakers win. If Reaves goes into "I'm Him" mode, the Lakers win. If Dinwiddie gets it going off the bench, the Lakers win. It's not a one man game even if the superstars ball out and your starting PG is knocking down most of his 3s. Lakers couldn't score over stretches of the game and at times AD said they didn't know what they were doing. So, let's stop this myth that the Lakers played their best game.
The only hope the lakers have is the fact that twice they got out to a big lead. Credit to Denver for not giving up but Denver can't keep going down 15 plus and expect to win every game. Expecially against other teams.
