The year after they won the title in 77', POR was league best record at 50-10 and then Bill went down with injury. They were well on their way to possible repeat NBA champs and yet he still won league MVP. Bill was a walking 18/13/5/3 when healthy. He was the best center not named Wilt, Russel, or Kareem the league had seen to that point. Injuries are a shame. RIP LEGEND ❤

He really was an all-time great. Prior to his injuries many would definitely say he was a top 3 Center at that time. He showed flashes of it in Boston and they won a championship in large part because of his play. He’s definitely in the top 10-15 all-time center range. I personally think he’s top 10 maybe top 8. Oh and I’m a Lakers fan and I don’t like the Celtics lol. But I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have respect for those Celtics players especially in the 80s

Absolutely. I was born in 89, so I didn’t get to watch Bill during his playing days, although from watching old clips, Walton seemed like he was a force to be reckoned with during his UCLA days and his years with the Blazers. But I absolutely loved his commentary. My all time favorite sports broadcasting team is Madden and Summerall. But a very close second is the team of Marv Albert, Bill Walton, and Snapper Jones back during the glory days of the NBA on NBC, when professional basketball was at it’s peak and you couldn’t wait for those NBA triple headers on Sunday afternoon, it filled the void beautifully whenever the NFL season was over with. Now, Marv Albert is the only one left. It’s heartbreaking that with every year that we get older, more and more pieces of our childhood leave this earth.

From philly so I never had any reason to root for BW, but his death has made me sad. It's tough to see someone go when they loved life so much and positively impacted so many people. RIP

@@lamart3857Same as his idol, Bill Russell. It also doesn't matter. Each was SO impactful all the way around.
Who cares about Melo and Nique and their scoring averages? Besides them.

@@Amick44 bill Russell is not a goat either he averaged 15ppg in a weak era on a stacked team just use common sense put shaq, kareem or olajuwon in that era and they probably average 50 just like wilt, this ain't rocket science bro if you never averaged 20ppg you can't be the Goat

@@lamart3857 how may assists you gotta average? How bout rebounds?
Magic averaged 19.5 for his career. Even if you don't think he's The GOAT, he's not far off. And another one or two or three points do not make the difference. The overall game matters the most.

@@Amick44 in my opinion if you don't average 25ppg for your career and have at least 4 chips,4finals mvps and 4 regular season mvps you can't be the Goat so to answer your question no magic is not the goat he's top 5 definitely but if you can't play defense you can't be the goat jordan and lebron are the only 2 guys you can legitimately consider the goat if we are going off logic yea you have 🤡s saying kobe is the goat which is just laughable but anyway nobody that averaged under 20ppg for their career will ever be looked at as the goat, that's just how it is scoring is the biggest part of the game
