I literally just attended his sold-out Magic Man show at the Barclay Center. The tickets were expensive, yet 19000 New Yorkers still came out to see him and even went to his Nebula after party which was also expensive. As far as I can see, people are eagerly awaiting Magic Man 2. Jackson is very successful in the US right now, also most of the mainstream West does not consider him a K-pop idol, they view him simply as an artist and entertainer. He is generally loved and when I see people hate on him, it is usually because he is Chinese.

I just saw him last week in SFO and I loved his concert! Jackson unleashed! He is not kpop anymore. Do you Jackson. I hope he comes back to California soon as I would love to see him again! I get so tired of this gossip crap! He was drinking out of a bottle of Hennessy and so were some of the dancers but do you really think it was alcohol? His words did not slur at any time during the concert nor did he stumble. It was probably tea or colored water in the bottle. I mean, just think about it!

Had a loving family that guided him and loved him, got an opportunity at jyp because of his looks, and was supported in his early career as a soloist even though a lot of his early work was bad. Jackson Wang is one of the nicest people in the industry and one of the most talented artists in the world. Haters come like barking dogs after those who are successful and its all bark and no bite. He will shine even brighter.
I think this should be a wake up call to people that kpop sells an image and an idea of who the idols and artists are and should take everything the idols do and portray with a grain of salt. I mean Jackson is still part of a member of a K-pop group but he's not really involved in the K-pop industry judging from what he's been doing since him and the rest of the members left jyp.
I think what he's doing is to break out of the K-pop image and try to reinvent himself as an artist. He wants to explore different parts of himself and experiment, something he wasn't able to do as a K-pop idol.
But apparently not many people seem to like that and it seems like people are still holding on to the idea that he's still a K-pop idol.

The thing I've been concerned about was the possibility of a drinking problem, not just because of his talk with Eric, but also an older video where he downed way too much very strong Chinese alcohol as part of a sleep routine. However, according to another article I read, he goes full ham on his endorsements and that was why he was carrying Hennessy everywhere in the Magic Man tour and other events. He basically becomes a poster boy for whatever product deal he has at the time.
There is also the whole thing about supporting the CCP, which I honestly just don't have enough information to make an informed feeling on the subject. There is also the complication of China not only being the CCP and the sinophobia that arose after Covid which is a genuine concern.
That said, if Jackson does something you genuinely can't support, that's absolutely your prerogative to not support someone who is associated to or supports something you're against.
The crappy thing is that we just don't know. There is propaganda in EVERY country and the west does make China out to be a bad guy no matter if it is actually doing something really crappy or just existing. China is also way too massive to make a judgment call on the whole country, because not everyone in China who loves China supports the CCP and the actions therein. It's more complex than people give it credit for.
Also, Jackson isn't an ambassador, he's not trained to be diplomatic in the same way to be talking with clarity and level of knowledge required to discuss political issues. He's just sharing an opinion and on face value, all he was saying is that China gets a bad rep as a country. We don't know if he meant the CCP, or just the people, or just China as a whole.
I've also met in my life lovely smart people who happen to hold a few really dumb opinions. People aren't 2-D, we all have some dumb thing that we will die on a hill about that might be actually really terrible, but we don't realize it. It takes time and evidence to prove that we're wrong and attacking people for it doesn't change it if they are actually wrong. So being mad, being hateful, even if it's an understandable response won't change people and therefore won't also help solve the issue.

THE PAINTBALL COLOR SCHEME IS THIS REDISH PINK THAT LAY BOLD ON FRIENDS AND LOVED ONES. THE PAINTBALL GUNS THEMSELVES LOOKED MORE LIKE AR-15s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
