    I finally got around to reviewing the Blue Yeti X USB condenser microphone and the next evolution in the Blue Yeti microphone lineup. This time, the mic ships with the "Blue Sherpa" software to apply realtime post-processing to your audio with various presets and a noise gate. This is what Elgato's Wave Mic should have shipped with! Let's test it out and compare it to other microphones in its price range.

    Solid review! Seems like this mic is all about the presets in the Blue Sherpa software. Broadcaster 1, Broadcaster 2, I liked Crisp and Modern initially but near the end there was too much boom to it.

    Thank you for the NERDorDIE coupon! I used it to get several overlay packages that I ordinarily would not have purchased.
    I installed the Blue Sherpa again tonight. It does have the mic settings page but it still does not offer Blue Voice support for the Yeti I have.
    The NVIDIA RTX Voice app has been a godsend for me as it removes keyboard, desk, and room fan noise without having to use noise gate settings in other software.

    @musitude7121 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I'm doing the Musitude livestream with a Blue Yeti and still learning about sound so I havent' started using any software to modulate the sound yet.
    However, I am never going to be comfortable with a microphone close to my face so I keep it on an arm attached to a shelf so the mic is 60cm or 24" directly in front and slightly above me (when I'm sitting forward) and 90cm or 36" away when I sit back in the chair.
    I doubt I'm going to change in that positioning preference as I realy don't feel comfortable being crowded by equipment etc. So is there a better mic someone can recommend that would suit that positioning?
    I'm going to be using a Sony ZV-1 for livestreaming and was wondering if the Rode shotgun mic might be preferable (even though it just uses a mini jack)?

    Does the Vo!ce processed signal comes back through the live monitoring, or do you always get the dry signal?
    I don't stream, but I have VoIP calls and play online almost daily, so being able to tune the mics sound is more important than the routing, and I would love to be able to hear what the rest of the people on the other end are hearing.
    Right now I have a Motu M2 coming, which should be a good multitasker on the cheap for recording, calls and headphone amplifier; I only wish I had a way to add some processing without having a big rack unit like the dbx 286s or having to deal with VSTs for such mundane tasks.
    It sucks the GoXLR doesn't have a better headphone preamp, or it would have picked up a mini already, I hope more consumer grade devices had DSPs like these built in.

    I refunded mine. The reason I refunded mine is because the software glitched out the microphone, and the usb cord out of the box was faulty, but I ordered a new one anyway. But still, the usb cord could NOT stay plugged in. The software would make it so where you couldn't speak into the microphone at ALL. It really sucked that that stuff ruined the experience, but other than that when it worked, it was a great microphone!

  • @KuJoe
    @KuJoe 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    To me it looks like Elgato software is designed with live streaming in mind whereas Blue's software is designed with mic users in mind. Also it looks and sounds solid, but $150+ for a USB mic? If that's the last mic you'll ever own then it's probably worth it, but with no upgrade path that's a tough one IMO.

      What's your current mic? If you really need a capture card and your mic isn't bad, then go for the capture card.

    Sorry, what do you mean by boomy-ness? I’m a newbie!

    • @skorpers
      @skorpers 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know this is a really old comment, but that's generally referring to the proximity effect. Bass response, or overall "thickness" of the sound, being close to a mic makes them really bassy for example.

    Ever thought of doing a video on an older product, say a Zoom H2n - that has decent uses outside of the home studio too and comparing those against modern USB mics?
    Costs the same as this yeti, is a portable recorder as well as a USB mic, with multiple pick up patterns and on device meters . DOesn't have all the random software presets, but if those matter - can be done with any generic EQ.

      You can get some of the settings for it through Logitech GHub now for original Yeti

      @@EposVox I wonder what's so special about the 'X' that only that specific mic can utilize those settings.

    Gain/output is way too high. Turn it down and place the mic closer. Sounds better that way.

      Yep, original yeti sounds a lot better, when you close mic it with the proper gain setting at least. Still much prefer more modern budget XLR mics though

      @@ProsenjeetDasgupta Same, I have the amazon black/silver version. It sounds much better. If it supports the sherpa software that would make it a great mic as far as usb goes.

    So people complain about the boom in your mic and prefer the flat tone??? That low voice loud sounds terrible and no its not my old razer krakens i even tried my good sony headphones and ugh it felt like i was in 2014 again but the Broadcaster 1 sounds X times better than that low one my god i thought that was the default sound. But once again i way prefer boomy sound in microphones.

  • @Para-Sox

    Yeah, the mic with whatever preset you used for this video sounds pretty irritating. Gotta isolate and cut wherever that annoying high pitched frequency lies in an eq, as-is it's exhausting to listen to.

    FYI speakers on your phone are on the bottom, not the screen

    • @EposVox
      @EposVox  ปีที่แล้ว

      …most modern phones use the earpiece speaker for left, the bottom firing ones for right. Both are used.
