Jurgen kohler at the back... absolute class never gets mentioned because of the bigger names but I've studied Germany's 1990 team and he stands out for me... bringing the ball out from the back perfect passing very strong...if you want to win world cups you must have class at the back

Very intense matches between germany and the netherlands… starting in Euro 88 and ending in the Euro 92. Germany wins only one time, but the most important game WM 90.
Germany was top over all from 80 toll 96 starting and ending with the EM title. Then going down from the WM 98, till 2006 with the „Summer Miracle“ a long way to the WM Title 2014 starts. Many in germany says that the Team of the EM 2012 was the most giftet team germany ever had, at least equal to the team in 1972…
The 88-92 German team was one of the greatest of the all time,it's a pity that most part of people remember it for the horrible final of 1990.

I agree with you in 100%. I have to admit that Germany from 1988 to 1992 was great one, but Germany of 2014 is great one as well, but they are only at the beginning. I hope Germany win also EURO 2016.
I like the current Germany but I think that it was better in 2010,now the Guardiola's style game is becoming boring and I think that individually the players of 1990 were better:Brehme,Kohler,Buchwald,Matthaus,Hassler,Klinsmann.I think that VIRTUALLY,only Neuer,Lahm,Schweinsteiger and Muller would be able to play in the 1990's team.
I think, Germany 1988-92 was the best team in the football's history: unstoppable, powerful, attacking. The real players and legends!

The game was amazing. The most interesting part for me its that this game was played few months after the euro in Germany. Many consider the Holland team far superior, but this game proves that Germany was at least at the level. Between 1988 and 1990 they play against each other 4 times in official games! One victory each and two draws. The game in the euro 88 was the real final. No disrespect for the URSS.

@@josemiguelvillasenorbello2171 No. It was a team effort. Rijkaard is underestimated when you say that, but surely Koeman too. The goalie was also important. But all of these players in 1988 were real teamplayers. The exception to the rule in The Netherlands.
The Dutch were not a real team in 88, though. Luxury trouble ;)

@Mark Nuz Of course they do suffer cramps in overtime. They suffer cramps even during real time. Don't be fooled. Progress is there but let's not exaggerate it. Progress only in small steps. All players cannot press for more than 60 mins. Some teams cannot press for more than 40 mins. Humans are still humans.

Pijnlijk, maar de duisters waren eigenlijk veel beter dan Nederland. Geen kans gehad. Later in de kuip en op het wk ook. Okee, deze was zonder Gullit, maar we moeten toegeven dat we in die tijd toch echt de mindere waren. De Duitsers speelden ook wel erg makkelijk op het latere wk en wonnen zeer terecht..
Als ze zoveel beter waren,waarom wonnen ze dan nu niet? Dus nee,ze waren niet beter want het draait om de doelpunten.

In This Dutch team there were 2 weak players that were weaken the whole team those were Silooy and Bosman. In those places there should be Wim Kieft and Ruud Gullit.

West Germany 1966 - 1990 is the greatest team with long lasting energy. Then 1990 - 1996, The Germany still keep the spirit with euro champion. 1996 - 2002 is the dark season even they can reach the 2002 wc final. 2004 until now is the better team with 2014 wc champion.
Both teams are in a hurry. They are not afraid to shoot from the distance.

Samanth in this game Holland had loads of luck and generally from -88 to -92 Germany was better than Holland for sure.
Träum Weiter 1990 in Italien war es den doch auch soweit die Holländer von damals hatten schon ein Paar einmalig Unsportliche Arschlöcher dabei.Die Krönung war ja das Rijkaard in Deutschland als Trainer Arbeiten Wollte Mann das wäre ein Spiessrutenlaufen für Dieses Lama geworden!!!!
