This is the best quality of this game I've seen on TH-cam. Johnny Rep's shot which hits the post was one of the best shots of this tournament, specially if you notice he did it with his weak foot. It is a pity both Beckenbauer and Cruyff could still play in this W. Cup but for various reasons they didn't. Even Gerd Muller at age 33 was still a world class center forward. He himself regretted leaving the national team at age 29 because according to his memoirs he didn't want to be booed by the fans if and when his form declined.
I was too young to remember or witness this WC ( 5 years old) but there were some real classics indeed. Although it is a pitty that Cruyff did not play this tournament, he would still have been in class act I guess. For me the 1998 will be the most remarkeble WC I saw.
As italian 11 y.o. kid I got atonished at the goal of Haan... a few days after he taught us the same lesson kicking us out of the final and i was crying and screaming "they should have known that guy shoots from a long distance! They should have known!"
Hugh Johns was THE BEST, and his commentary made this memorable game even better. I grew up in London in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and couldn't wait to watch football with his commentary on ITV during the weekend. Brian Moore was very good, but Hugh Johns was something else.

Here is a clue, French players will be wearing the french team kit while Senegalese players will be wearing the uniforms of the national team of Senegal.
