- Tackled by separatist factions, Al-Qaeda operations, unpredictable revolts and critical poverty the future of Yemen seems doomed. But traveling in this Arabian country was perhaps one of the most fascinating experiences I have had, especially because I got the chance to get to know my Yemeni counterparts: the women fully covered under those black veils. Who were they like under those dark garments? Are they repressed or do they really feel more comfortable covered? Let me introduce you to them in this Diaries report from Sana'a, the capital of Yemen.
My mother is Yemeni and let me tell you they are the strongest women you will meet!!

I'm an Muslim Indian but my roots are Hadāri, yemeni, I cover myself from head to toe (Niqāb included) and I do so by my free will, no oppression or forced culture. I'm comfortable and outgoing with it also ambitious, career oriented, practicing Muslim. Culture, religion, world and be gained simultaneously. Islam doesn't oppress or close any gates of success for Women rather it encourages every Muslim (irrespective of Gender, ethnicity, age), it commands Muslims to gain knowledge, to trade, to built their lives. It's entirely opposite of what west potrays Islam to be.

majority muslim women in Indonesia only wear 3 types of veils (Hijab, Al-Amira, and Khimar), we dont cover our face with niqab or burqa because it's not necessary, You will not get any sin by showing your face only. The majority of Ulama said that the entire body of a woman is Awrah (عورة) except the face and palms based on Al-Quran
as long as you do these, you will be fine :
1. Covering the entire body except for part excluded.
2. The cloth and veil should be thick, not thin or transparent
3. Loose clothing, not tight, so that does not describe anything from women's body curve
agreed, i'm wearing Khimar for daily activities, and Hijab for events

And when that happens, the temperature over there becomes very HOT: Boiling! Yep, lol I think you could imagine it already. All the air conditioners that are mostly used throughout the whole country to make the rooms within buildings cooler........goes suddenly Off! lol.
Not only that, but the bigger issue, is that Yemen is kind of in War at the moment.So, it really isn't safe for anyone to visit it right now.

This type of dress predates Islam and Christianity. Even pagans wore this. In the deserts of Arabia, the sun is incredibly hot and surfaces are easily higher than 100 degrees (can burn exposed skin if you were to wear shorts and sit on a bench for example) and the wind is incredibly Sandy/dusty so you need eye protection. Men wear long robes and head/face scarfs too. This is to prevent sun burn and overheating. Since it’s not humid (it’s dry air), you dont feel hot with longer clothing. Just google recommended desert attire and you will see long loose clothing that doesnt stick to the skin (like robes instead of shirts and pants) are recommended for more ventilation.
