It’s insane how good rap and hip hop has been this year like holy crap. But clipping. Might just take it to a new level with this album. This has to be one of the Songs if the year.
I've been saying for years now that the 2010s have been like a Renaissance for Hip Hop music. Almost like a second Golden Age if you look past the shit and listen to how unique, experimental and forward thinking so much of it is
Hey, for every person who bumps it just because they think it sounds cool, someone actually pauses and says, "wait, what is he saying?" The Revolution spreads, even on the backs of the unwitting and yet-to-be enlightened.
wait, the ending shows Daveed, gun in hand, with a halo behind him Nothing is Safe had the lyrics: *"You look and see a gun, a man with no face A golden halo that could be the sun"*
Yes, but that song was about drug dealers in the trap getting taken out, and this song is about violent revolution, so I'm not so sure about the connection.
@@WinterReflections Nothing Is Safe does involve drug dealing but I thought it was mainly based on the terror of police portrayed as faceless monsters (to go with the halloween like atmosphere of the album), and that Blood of the Fang flips it on the head, as the race-based violence from police is now fought against (among general racism and white supremacy). The tables have turned. *(but that's just a theory. A MUSIC THEORY)*
I don't understand how this thing hasn't caught fire. I'm honestly trying to figure out how to work this video into every conversation I have right now.
And Daveed looks a lot like Gambino except somehow even sexier. But read the description though. There's plenty of references to Civil Rights Movement era black culture and figures that slipped by me at first that make it similar to This Is America too
@@andreapiersanti7713 of course I'm not saying This Is America is super deep and this song isn't. but both songs have a lot to say, This Is America just chooses to use less words to convey the message i'd also like to point out that i think you're making this observation because both videos have shirtless black men with similar hairstyles
He goes so hard that it's a work out!😁 have you seen videos of him after a show? He's sweating buckets and it's not the lights cause usually it's very dark!
Holy fuck does this song make anybody else completely lose their mind? Unbelievably sick, especially the last verse, that had my jaw on the floor I s2g
hahaha they did surgery on a gun but really though I learned so much black history by reading these lyrics and have mad respect for his talent hahaha he ate the gun tho
Bruh I always thought that Daveed digs just sounded like Jefferson/Lafayette form Hamilton I never actually looked it up until to today man that’s crazy.
The style of this is crazy, it’s so different but it’s also very clever. With everything going on we need something like this, literally such a good message.
i wonder how that gun model tasted, let alone what it may have been made out of. must’ve been pretty good judging from how daveed mellows out the moment he gets to chewing
I’ve been listening to this song several times a day almost every day since mid July. I’ve also been learning about the black panthers during that time. I’m ready Revolutionary Suicide right now, but the context didn’t make sense for me until now and it’s shifted this whole video into perspective. Of course this is just my personal interpretation of it: I don’t think it’s necessary to point out that the song is about the Black Panther Party because that’s pretty obvious. I do think it’s worth mentioning that I think the context for the first scene makes sense being inspired by Huey Newton’s visit to Kaiser Hopsital after being accused of being in a police shootout that resulted in the death of officer John Frey. When Huey was stopped by police and being arrested, he was shot in the stomach by one of the officers. He was taken to Kaiser Hospital and was immediately chained to the examining table and beaten on by the police. According to Huey in his book, police also was continually harassed by police during his recovery but that’s all explained in Revolutionary Suicide. Taking that event into account and it all sort of clicks into perspective.
I found this song from the movie this song samples. The children chanting and the "By the Christians it is written that in the Black Myrthian Age... There existed an addiction to blood" are from the 1973 movie Ganja & Hess, a movie about a man cursed by an ancient artefact and becomes addicted to blood. Powerful movie about power, sex, religion, death, and race in America. I'd recommend it.
Is that that movie where the last 4th of the entirety of the movie is the director staring into the camera smoking a joint and just kind of talking about philosophy or something. There is a movie like that if this if this isn't the one then it reminds me of it I'll have to find it
IDK man, as much as I love clipping, i don't see this topping AMHAC, itll probably top the new danny brown project and maybe even IGOR but I guess i got to wait to see when its out.
@@GamingOS Listened to the album due to pre-ordering the CD, I can tell you, The album beats out peggy's new album. Whilst AMHAC is an incredible album, this album be an absolute AOTY. Be prepared.

yeah, the rhyme schemes and speed are the quickest thing to pull ppl's heads out their rap-god bling-era asses tho. Grabs attention immediately.
on the meaning tho, this song alone's radicalized me towards protest. If peaceful protest is silenced, then arson. If arson is silenced, then death. If death is silenced, then death ain't shit- you GOT to. Thank god where I live is peaceful.

Lots to unpack and chew on
Hey, for every person who bumps it just because they think it sounds cool, someone actually pauses and says, "wait, what is he saying?"
The Revolution spreads, even on the backs of the unwitting and yet-to-be enlightened.
Even the imagery in the video - Daveed being handcuffed to a medical bed with an abdominal injury in reference to Huey Newton.

It's impossible to ignore imo and it's what makes this track so awesome

Yes, but that song was about drug dealers in the trap getting taken out, and this song is about violent revolution, so I'm not so sure about the connection.
@@WinterReflections Nothing Is Safe does involve drug dealing but I thought it was mainly based on the terror of police portrayed as faceless monsters (to go with the halloween like atmosphere of the album), and that Blood of the Fang flips it on the head, as the race-based violence from police is now fought against (among general racism and white supremacy). The tables have turned. *(but that's just a theory. A MUSIC THEORY)*
The golden halo is a muzzle flash

"i imagine death so much it feels more like a memory..."
You’ve summoned me 🤨🤨🤨
I’ve been listening to this song several times a day almost every day since mid July. I’ve also been learning about the black panthers during that time. I’m ready Revolutionary Suicide right now, but the context didn’t make sense for me until now and it’s shifted this whole video into perspective. Of course this is just my personal interpretation of it:
I don’t think it’s necessary to point out that the song is about the Black Panther Party because that’s pretty obvious.
