    Joe Malenko counters Dynamite Kid's snap suplex, with a fisherman suplex, pretty awesome to see that.

    I feel like this is a match I would show someone who's never seen wrestling before. I feel like I've been lied to about wrestling my whole life since seeing this match.

      These 4 guys would be the ones I’d seek out for teaching if I was serious about becoming an elite pro wrestler. They’re all on the same level as the Horsemen, Rock & Roll Express & Midnight Express.
      There’s nothing better than technically sound pro wrestlers who make absolutely everything look realistic. It’s a shame that so many others have become Hall of Fame famous for making the business look phony with crappy moves and too many cartoony theatrics. Hulk Hogan could get punched in the face 18 times, but because he shakes his fists and walks in circles… he suddenly develops superhuman powers?

    One thing I find fascinating is how the crowd pops once Joe and Dynamite are tagged in. Obviously Davey Boy Smith and Dean had much more Mainstream Success and we're Household name's in the States, but in Japan it was the Exact opposite Dynamite Kid and Joe were the Major Stars Here while Dean and Bulldog were the less popular Tag team Partners

  • @Nostalgicguy2242

    Whoa, if Dean was the Iceman, Joe was the Absolute Zero man, his face is absolutely expressionless

    • @KingKhanate1997

      I like how his moves are less flashy than Dean’s, no disrespect intended. Like when Dynamite has that armbar locked in, Joe starts targeting his ankle/legs and just stretches the shit out of him until the hold is broken. It’s not spectacular or especially fancy looking but damned if it doesn’t look like it fucking hurts lmao. Real counter wrestling.

    Noticed the cameraman's diligence and never capturing a close-up or a clear image of Joe malenko's face when he's taking bumps or supposed to be in great pain resulting from a headlock or a high impact move. A few times you can catch a glimpse of it and not surprisingly, it looks the exact same as it did at the beginning when they shook hands of the bulldogs. Either confused or botoxed to the point he can't change expression. Man I love the milenkos

    • @blakehowse6803
      @blakehowse6803 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually they have a ton of talent like this now. 10 years ago they wanted nothing to do with Japan or prominent indy fews, but that's all changed in the last few years. I mean they have AJ, Nakamura, Balor, Gallows & Anderson, and now Asuka on the main roster. They were all stars in Japan before leaving for WWE. They also have a ton of top indy guys in both NXT & the main roster. This is the most athletically gifted roster they've ever had.

    • @georgebrice3831

      Blakehowse+ too bad they are wasting them and watered them down

    • @thegoldenfool
      @thegoldenfool 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      They have to water them down to reduce injuries because they work a full-time 300+ day a year schedule. If anyone decided to pull out these Wrestle Kingdom-style matches every night on a full-time schedule then they would be in wheelchairs by the end of the year. That's why Cena wrestled the same "Five Moves of Doom" match for so long.

    • @Time2LevelUp
      @Time2LevelUp 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hardly reducing the injuries based on their yearly list of folks on the treatment table. They need to lighten the schedule. Expecting folks to do athletics and then travel in a box to the next state for 7 hours isn't good for the body or muscles.

    A few of observations:
    1. There were moments here you could hear a pin drop in that arena. The audience was dead silent at times.
    2. Late into the match Dean and Joe were working on Davy Boy’s RIGHT leg instead of the left. I had to look closely to make sure I wasn’t imagining it. I thought it was an unwritten rule you always work your opponent from the left.
    3. You would never see a match like this in the US. I love watching this kind of match. It really looks like a legitimate bout at times.

    Joe malenko it's quite possibly the only man who could make Dean malenko seem charismatic and non robotic. I can't even imagine the high jinks that went on between that family when they were all in their youth. Staring straight ahead perhaps while the father talked about the technical aspects of proper mat wrestling and the boys got so excited one of them almost smiled.

    If this ain't the best evidence of Jericho's brilliance I don't know what is. It's almost impossible to create heat with malenko that is believable because he is such a fucking expressionless, non-charismatic, gravelly throated a cting school dropout that his only believable gimmick over 25 years as an awesome technical wrestler was that he had no feelings and was literally an Iceman AKA a robot. Nothing less believable than malenko trying to act mad while his brother stares straight ahead like a tragic case of unintended hypnosis results...
    When I snap my fingers you, your brothers, and your father will continue to behave like emotionless, feeling less, expressionless robots.

    Dynamite wrestles better than Davey in that he does things that make sense . Example ... Dynamite attacks the arm and returns to it first chance he gets . His " strategy " is to weaken Joes arm throughout the match to neutralize Joes ability to stretch him . Davey doesn't seem to have a strategy ... Dynamite Tombstones Dean , screwing up his neck and spine . Dynamite tags Davey after his pin fails and does Davey attack his neck ? No ...arm .

    • @georgeelmerdenbrough6906
      @georgeelmerdenbrough6906 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is not much to criticise here . But clearly Davey blew the spot where Joe dropkick he and Dynamite out of the ring ... he sold the kick even when it was clear he did not have the inertia to go out with Dynamite ... its a great high spot but you got to make it look fluid not deliberate

      How often does weakening an arm over the course of a 10-minute match actually impact the match? And have any of us ever seen someone submit to a fucking arm bar? There was 20 minutes in the middle that weren't necessary LOL. You can only watch the head scissors so many times knowing that it isn't going to end the match and it's so many times you can reverse arm bars to the other teams advantage (I would say once or twice a match, arm bars are always a waste of time, boring, useless, non-threatening, and a 5-year-old can do it) before it gets really boring. The technical skill here is awesome, I just think the match was 20 minutes longer than it needed to be

    Joe put me in a front facelock and I saw stars. For years I thought I was slapping it on all proper and got schooled. I couldn't be more grateful 🥲
