OMG CAN YOU SEND ME THAT CUTE DRAWING OF ME AND JAKE 😍😍 Thank you for making this!! Huge win for the video game music community all around!! Honestly this is THE most concise and well crafted short and sweet explanation of my career to date. Thank you again for this!! Also, I wanna clarify your description, me and Jake BOTH got Grammy awards for this and we both get trophies. I couldn't have done it with out him! So you may wanna the order of your description to match that :)
Congratulations! I've often wondered how you managed to gather together so many high calibre musicians. Your arrangements are incredible and the Grammy well-deserved.
I'm really glad to hear Jake gets a trophy too! I didn't want to make any assumptions as we only saw one trophy at the awards. I've changed the description. Congratulations again!
Can’t believe Kirby got a grammy before he got GOTY lol. In all seriousness, this is a really big deal not just for Kirby but for games as a whole, I feel. There’s so much terrific video game music and covers out there, and I think it’s going to start getting some more respect from those who don’t really play video games. Great video as always, especially with the incredibly inspiring moral!
8-Bit Big Band hype! I've been following them for years now, and while I have no love lost for mainstream award shows, I am always excited for these sorts of stories.
In late March to early April 2022, Kirby was receiving and giving dubs. HAL releasing Forgotten Land and it slapping hard and having a fan arrangement recognized for a Grammy win and even Sakurai taking notice.
It’s rare that a video game song got a Grammy. As a musician, video game music is one of the things that made me get into music creation as a whole. (seriously, Kumi Tanioka (Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles), Yasunori Mitsuda (Chrono Trigger), Dennis Akbulut (Crosscode) and Ken Nakagawa (Atelier series) are names that come to mind when I think of VGM, they are video game musical legends imo and have the best arrangements in RPG games in my humble opinion and are highly talented at their craft)
Thanks for the interesting background information. I've been watching The Consouls for 7 years now. They also do great jazz VGM but come from Australia and have far fewer high profile connections and opportunities, being quite distant from big jazz cities eg. London, Tokyo and San Francisco or New York so I'm wondering if their talent will also finally be recognised now that the genre has gained the 'credibility' of a Grammy?
Video game music is better than 99% of music being released today. People always get salty when you say that, but as someone who went to school for music, the absolute lack of complexity and total homogeneity of modern music is frustrating. Honestly, most Grammys should be won by video game and film scores, or jazz/fusion compositions.
It's so true: the people writing this music really came up with some iconic melodies. Obviously there's bad video game music out there as well, but I don't think there's the same commercial incentive for it to be bad. It's ultimately the game that's generating the sales, which frees up musicians to write something creative.
Wow, I can't believe I missed that part of this year's Grammy's. Everyone always pointed out Tyler, The Creator getting his second Grammy, Baby Keem getting his first, rap heads bitching about Virgil Abloh being called a "hip hop fashion designer" But hearing about this, an orchestrated Kirby cover, is definitely a first for me. And it makes me really happy to hear about. I wish more video game composers won a Grammy or were even nominated.
I'm only now realising that I wrote identical replies there. I'm happy you covered this. I've been following the band for a while and it would have been a shame if this topic got overlooked (I did add identical replies for the award timestamp underneath but I was aware of that one)
.......the title says "why 8-bit big band won a grammy"......you never specified why they won, just talked about their formation, I wanna know how a videogame song from a youtube channel of professional musicians won a big industry award? did they nominate themselves in actually win? or something else? the video was kinda false advertising
They were nominated few months ago, and won the reward around a week ago. Check out the original video. The description also lists the type of award they won.
Video Game Music has been better than mainstream pop for over two decades now; ever heard of "One Winged Angel" or "U.N. Owen was Her?" Video Game OST/BGM doesnt need mainstream acceptance to be recognized as great classical music becuz legendary songs like from the Ocarina of Time soundtrack have already withstood the test of time. These songs are iconic and will be remembered far after the forgettable insipid msm drivel that celebrity culture tries to push onto to people as "music"
*🕶🪄Erasing everyone’s memories of the entire “Kirby of the Stars” industry and terminating this video for entire world due to privacy infringement* 🤞🏼🤞🏼= No threat backs (especially cussing), authorities, troll comments etc. or I’ll mute or block/terminate y’all’s views of this Iconic Character Perminantly except for “K&J.”…

Congratulations to all of you again! You deserve it!!
Awesome Job, can't wait for more! 😎

Congrats on the Grammy!!!!
Who knows when I would've found out about the Meta Knight's Revenge cover if it hadn't won a grammy?! It's really good.
Luckily I knew of it prior to the nominations. So I’m glad T8BBB got significantly more recognition.
Kirby winning a Grammy. Now there's a sentence you would never expect to hear.
The moral of the story: Good work is appreciated regardless of the source.
Please allow me to recommend also The Consouls who do great work on VGM jazz covers but as a smaller ensemble (usually quartet or quintet)
Can’t believe Kirby got a grammy before he got GOTY lol.

I wonder if Jun Ishikawa (the og composer) knows about this. He should be proud of himself.
When everything comes together it becomes a beautiful melody.
Many thing comes at a cost, but it pays off in a good time.
Your animations, tone and “moral of the stories” are simply delightful. Your videos always make me smile. Thank You ❤️
Thank you so much for picking up my suggestions, Also teach me more about such an awesome music was created.
We always appreciate your early comments, thank you for being with us through thick and thin!

I’ve listened to the 8-Bit Big Band for a few years now, they’ve come really far! Incredible to see
I wonder what TH-camr will earn a Grammy next.
Hopefully Ninja Sex Party

Meta Knight's actual Revenge:
Kirby has to share majority of this accomplishment to Meta Knight, OOF-
3:25 typo in the english captions (banned" instead of "banner" might be confusing to deaf individuals)
I never knew Kirby would win a Grammy.

Grammy award winner: meta knight
Even if Kirby and the Forgotten Land doesn’t win game if the year. This is still an awesome win for the pink puffball
Congrats to 8-bit big band and Buttonmasher and Kirby and Meta knight
Another win for society and gamers all around 😎
8 bit and video game story, keep up the great work, I love both your content!

True 100% seriously. I tried to say the same thing.
this is what the oscars should be. accepting all types of art no matter what it derives from.
Charlie's and Jake's Grammy award is the *culmination of years of training.*
Dear Nintendo: *Allow us to stream / download your music!!!*

It’s official
Grammy awards > Oscar awards

Civ IV won this award in 2011.
See, this is what happends if people take videogames music asmusic and not like a joke
Too bad Grammys are pretty worthless by now, of all the songs that have ever received one this is the only one I like
Dang, imagine losing to a song from Kirby. That is just so bizarre and I mean that in a positive way. Congrats to the folks responsible.
About the description, yes there are spoken word Grammys. But you need to release an album.
Because Kirby's a very good boi.
Guess they showed us all the real super-power of teamwork.
grammy award winner meta knight ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Meta knight gets a grammy
some one made a mod where they gave meta knight a grammy award
Kirby music has always been beautiful and amazing
Couldn't have happened to a more deserving person!
We both won the award. Damn yall….lol
It’s weird to think that this guy also made a cover of the fnaf 1 and 2 songs by the living tombstone.
Thanks for the vid
I never heard this before
YOUR BACK
Great video, cool story on these modern day music lovers pushing our beloved media!
Loco pero dale créditos a la cover medio link aunque sea

Wow I didn't know about this! Cute video btw
There's video game GRAMMY award??? You saved me from today's music artists besides Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eillish, and The Kid LAROI!
Kirby? Nah man
It's Meta knight who won the grammy
Great. Now I hope God Shattering Star, or Apex of the World from Fire Emblem Three Houses gets a grammy.
Video about sonic frontiers
Kirb
These videos are incredibly quiet
Stewie Griffin: Whaaaat?
Mk won the Grammy, not Kirby
It's soo cuteee
Meta knight won
