      Solar is following Moores law and is getting better, but that's the panels themselves. Batteries are needed for the unreliable parts, and batteries usually lose 50% of the electricity going into it. We're not ready for solar yet, not for another 10 or 20 years at least. And there is a strong possibility that nuclear fusion will be a thing then as well. If that becomes a thing then transmission lines will also be important to get as much energy as possible. Especially with the Ai future we have potential for also. I think Nuclear is the best option for the immediate and maybe 10 years time have another look at solar.

    the waste which is small can go out at the nuclear test range wheree it doesnt matter, and replacing coal boilers at existing power stations is sensible and cost effective , the ground is already suprisingly radioactive from the coal , the radiation is contained with a reactor

  • @daniellebcooper7160
    @daniellebcooper7160 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

    The time to build a nuclear reactor is a bit irrelevant, its going down the path to becoming nuclear sufficient is important. Especially as Australia has plenty of uranium, and space for a waste dump.
    After all, even if Australia cuts its emissions by 100%, it wont make one bit of difference to the worlds climate.

    I don't see why the Labor Government would not consider Nuclear power since we are getting Nuclear powered submarines at some time in the future. So the Nuclear debate is clearly not off the table but for some reason they won't consider Nuclear power plants as part of the energy mix.
    My personal opinion is Nuclear power is not necessary for Australia but it should be considered as we have already started down the Nuclear path with the AUKUS submarine deal.
