      I would've ranked Maverik higher than Snapdragon. It's a much nicer looking stadium. My only quibble with Allegiant is it's not a college stadium. It's too nice for a college stadium

  • @ZJBorg
    @ZJBorg ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I get the pro stadium seeming like the best in the league but you have to understand that there’s almost no atmosphere in a place like that. Barring a major conference opponent coming in and playing them, they don’t draw well. There average last year was 22,000 per game. 3/4’s of the place is basically empty on a good day. Their lowest attended games can draw less than 10,000. Not to mention they’re paying 350K per
    Game to operate the place so they’ll likely scale back on the amenities normally made available for Raiders games too). This isn’t to say other schools kill it in attendance either (CSU’s stadium is great but they’ve stunk since opening it so crowds dwindle) but at least those stadiums are built for college and aren’t being played in a nearly empty coliseum. You still get some atmosphere and festivity and the amenities aren’t wasted.

    • @nashmonti120
      @nashmonti120 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is why the War in Wyoming is more basic, it’s not that we don’t have a die hard fan base but with the size of the school it can be difficult to make big bucks.
      On top of that about half of our attendance is reliant on Cheyenne but often in the later home games I-80 is closed and they can’t make it :(

    • @nashmonti120
      @nashmonti120 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also yeah fuck Cock Sucker University, imagine having such a nice stadium and never even selling out season ticket holders

    • @nateb9768
      @nateb9768 ปีที่แล้ว

      Of course I’m biased towards the soon to be completed renovations at SJSU since I go there but UNLV’s vibe seems to be off playing in the Raider Stadium. UNLV should have a nice smaller stadium somewhere that is more suited for their fan base.

    • @nashmonti120
      @nashmonti120 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nateb9768 college football always should be a more intimate setting since it’s a more intimate sport. As a Wyoming fan our stadium is perfect because it provides everything we need to do our yearly worship at the war.

      Allegiant stadium is a major upgrade from Sam Boyd (SBS) for UNLV.
      Great concessions, closer to campus and comfortable indoor temperature. Perfect protection from the brutal Vegas heat. This (and a winning season) has increased football attendance.
      Eventually, UNLV will build an on campus stadium but till then, Allegiant is pretty sweet.

    As a USU alum, I was shocked to find our stadium ranked as highly as fifth--though it has been many years since I was last there, and it does look like they have made a lot of improvements since then. It does feel a bit sad that they went for the sponsorship money in naming the stadium instead of naming it after hometown boy Merlin Olsen, the greatest football player that the state of Utah ever produced.

  • @TheCyborgXD

    UNLV seemed to have just stumbled into the number 1 spot with that stadium. They didn't really do anything to deserve the stadium, but they'll take it

      UNLV worked for years to get a new stadium before the Raiders came. Once the Raiders started working with local politicians to come to Vegas, the politicians realized they could get a two for one with public funds. They required the Raiders to let UNLV play there in exchange for their approval. A bit of work and a bit of luck. I'm happy regardless.

      I heard their AD talking recently about plans to add seating back to the east side in front of the new athletics complex. He says most of it will be some form of chairback, premium seating. He nixed the idea of an entire east side of aluminum bleachers - quote: "We have more than enough aluminum bench seating in this stadium. What we need is premium seating, something that is attractive to new fans." I think he's on to something with that comment. In the bay area, your competition isn't really Cal or Stanford, it's the comfortable environs of stadium like Levi's, Oracle Park, San Jose Arena, Chase Center. To attract those fans you need to offer a quality experience they've come to expect. Most people no longer want to sit on crowded benches with someone's knees in their back for 3-and-half hours on a Saturday afternoon or night. I like the way their AD thinks. He's got a pretty good handle on what needs to be done to move the program forward.

      Laramie sits at 7,100 feet, Fort Collins, CO is at 5,000, Logan, UT, and Reno, NV, are both about 4,500. I've lived in Salt Lake City (4,200 feet), worked at ski resorts and in tourism since the mid-'90s, and seen a lot of people get nasty altitude sickness. Most people adjust to it quickly and easily, but the few unlucky schmucks who do get it tend to get it BAD. They look like someone with a gnarly hangover or something---all loopy and disoriented, puking and just generally miserable. It's usually kinda funny, but a few years ago I saw a woman pass out and have a seizure during the Sundance Film Festival, and that scared the hell outta me.

    Wyoming and Boise should have been #4 & 5. They are farrrr better than SJSU and Fresno St.
    I've been to Wyo, Fresno and AF. Wyo is great with the curvature, feels like a legit designed stadium, and the lack of endzone seating means no bad seats and you can walk field side for an up close.
    AF is sneaky great because of the steep seating angle. That third year is actually a pretty great seat.
    Fresno is really poor. It's an old style bowl with low slope which means horrible endzone seats that are really far and really low slope.
    Finally, Boise just looks and feels like a league up above the other basic stadiums like SJSU, Fresno and somewhat UT State.

    UNM isn’t the best, but it does have NM’s feel in a stadium, and I’ve never understood why……….maybe Stadium Of Enchantment.
