Tonight was the opening night of the winter illuminations at Tokyo Dome! This year's theme is "Tokyo Snow Dome City", which is supposed to resemble a snow globe. So the lights are all bright white, to create a sense of white snow glowing round the area. I think there is a general culture of caring for is citizens, but also citizens being more of a hegemony in turn. But it's not all sake and sushi. Their work culture is still pretty toxic: long hours for middling pay are expected, being grilled to the point of being asked to apologize when you resign/quit. Endemic issues of taking advantage of women in public, and many expats say that even if you've been in country for years and speak the language fluently, and are fully integrated.... You are still considered an "outsider".
@@deansmits006 Yeah I've heard the work culture is pretty intense. And you can kind of see it just walking around in the cities. Have heard stories about extreme burnout and withdrawal from society, and salarymen dropping dead from heart issues.

Shocked you didn't get stopped by the police. I've been stopped for filming the same steps you are walking twice already
