    Lyrics:
Sinner rider, rides in with the storm
    The devil rides beside him
The devil is his god, God help you mourn
Can ya, can you hear it, can ya hear the thunder
    Deafen every living thing about
Can ya can ya see it, can you
    See the mountains darken yonder
Black sun rising, time is running out
Sacrifice to vice or die by the hand of the
    Sinner!
    Sinner!
    Sinner!
    Sinner!
    His steed of fury,
Eyes of fire and mane ablaze
    Demonic vultures stalking
Drawn by the smell of war and pain
    He roams the starways
Searching for the carcasses of war
But if it's hungry then its very presence
Disrupts the calm into the storm
Curse and damn you all you'll fall by the hand of the
    Sinner!
    Sinner!
    Sinner!
    Sinner!
God of the Devils, God of the Devils
    Won't you help them pray
God of the Devils, God of the Devils
    Is there no other way
Can't you hear their souls calling out in their plight
Can't you see their blood is boiling setting them alight
Thirty years now sleeping, so sound
War raises its head, and looks slowly around
The Sinner is near, sensing the fear
And the beast will start movin' around
Can't you see their souls calling out in their brain
Can't you hear their blood is boiling setting them alight
    ...Sinner, Sinner, Sinner, Sinner!
    Sinner!
    Sinner!
    Sinner!
    Sinner!
Sacrifice to vice or die by the hand of the
Curse and damn you all you fall by the hand of the
    Sinner!

You know...I grew up in a time where rock was everything. I grew up in the 70s in Hawaii. And I was fortunate to see Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Ozzy, Scorpions, Triumph, Doobie Bros, Molly Hatchet, Rush, Ted Nugent Blue Oyster Cult, Def Leppard and much more. Best of times for music....LONG LIVE ROCK AND ROLL!!!!🤘🏾🤘🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾

    Oldschool Priest!
Love how you think it's over, then at 8:34 the drums start the last transition with the raw riff guitars attack 4 sec later @8:38.
This is so funny, a bunch of teens not native us or gb listened the crap out of "Unleashed in The East" and 4:49 he starts that da-dabba-da-da-damska-dabba"'

I was there Gandalf, 40 years ago.... And yes, this was the bar by which all other Metal bands where measured for quite some time. BTW - that song first appeared on the 1977 album Sin After Sin which was released in 1977. Unbelieveable.

Many will tell you black sabbath was the creator of heavy metal but i will always dispute it, heavy metal began with Judas Priest in the mid '70s, many say Sin after Sin, some will say Hell bent for Leather, I say Sad Wings of Destiny is where it all began, maybe even Rocka Rolla. All I know this is where it all began not with sabbath, for me sabbath with ozzy sucked when ozzy left in 79 sabbath joined the heavy metal scene in 1980 with Ronnie James Dio, end of discussion

This was an excellent pick - not just the song (their best IMO), but also for the actual live performance, complete with their look and demeanor. If this live concert clip was the only metal recording that survives a thousand years, future archaeologists will be able to fundamentally understand the genre.

Yea 1982 was THE year ..... graduated high school, my first band played out for the first time ..... we were called TRYANT with an ode to Priest ..... did alot of their tunes but SINNER was 10 notches above. Man the pipes of Rob back then were incredible. Seeing them for the first time in '81 was gamechanging with a young Iron Maiden warming up. Man if only we knew how historic those shows have become. How people say what a great time to be alive, much less in your teens. I am honored to be in that group & witness the birth of modern metal. Cheers!!

'Sinner' was the opening track on Judas Priest's 3rd album 'Sin after sin' in 1977... the band had been signed to indie label Gull Records in the UK and were going bust, until a US label CBS Records signed them in '77 (They had to abandon their Gull contract and get no royalties from 1st two Priest albums) But Priest was still new to the game, and didn't have this 'leather & studs' image back then... the Harley bike onstage came later in 1978... In '77, they had to deliver in the studio... so Deep Purple's bassist Roger Glover came in and produced the record 'Sin after sin'... Their drummer Alan Moore was fired, and Simon Phillips played drums for the band in the studio, but declined to join Priest.
Released in 1977, 'Sin after sin' was not a big record at first... it went gold years later in the US. Judas Priest toured North America for the first time as an opening band for R.E.O. Speedwagon... and people were not ready for that intense level of heavy metal. It was Rob Halford (vocals) who got into leather wear that he bought at an S&M shop in London back in 1978... and it looked great, so the other members started wearing leather jackets & metal studs as well... By 1979, both the UK and US had begun to embrace Judas Priest commercially... they were big in Japan by that point. It was the 'British steel' album in 1980 that gave them their first gold record.
By 1982, Judas Priest was playing arenas worldwide and was the biggest heavy metal band at that time... Iron Maiden's Bruce Dickinson recalled opening for Priest in 1982 and said it was like "a panzer division rolling over you" and this concert video captured Priest in their prime. Dave Holland (drums) was on the kit from 1980 til 1989, and got into some trouble years later... but he was a phenomenal drummer as u can see... he passed away in 2018.

Ritchie did it justice without stealing KK's thunder, he must have played that solo hundreds of times on his own just for fun, long before ever considering he would one day...

Black Sabbath made rock and roll heavy. Judas Priest made it metal. I love all Priest eras but my favorite is their 70s material, which this song came out in 1977.

Did take JP a few albums to figure out their image in the late '70's, their stage persona as it were, but once they adopted singer Rob Halfords denim and leather and chains aesthetic it all fell into place, it literally became "THE metal fashion", the rock and roll/heavy metal uniform if you will; even a pair of worn-out skinny jeans, a black hoodie, a studded belt w/a wallet chain, emo bands adopted that visual aesthetic, modified it and maybe didn't realize where it originated. Such a cool band, true pioneers in so many ways, "Sabbath made it Heavy, but Priest made it Metal!"

By live I mean in the stadium. For me it was 88 Ram it Down tour. Opened with Electric Eye witht he entire stadium washed in colbolt blue. Never ever seen a better band live. Not Maiden or Slayer or Anthrax , no one. The absolute best. The two hours just came and went like ecstasy. Priest absolutely ruled.

Bananas are not a fruit, the song was written in 76 and released on Sin after Sin 1977,The bar was set much earlier! Thats what happens when you have the main music contributor play piano as Tipton and EVH do.

After they do Devils Child You can see KK look at Rob to see if he's ok. Rob grabs his neck towards the end of the song after he puts everything into his screams. You have to watch the whole thing to notice that
    .

Oh yeah, Priest and Maiden were the kings of 2-guitar Metal when I was in high school. So many great Metal memories. The 80's were the most exciting time for music, (although these bands began in the '70's, they really exploded in the early '80's).

THE METAL WORLD DIDN'T HAVE A CLUE THAT PRIEST WAS DOING THIS AT THE TIME! YOU HAD TO BE INTO THE SERIOUS METAL SCENE BACK THEN TO KNOW ABOUT THIS STUFF! IM 58 YEARS YOUNG AND HAVE BEEN A METAL FAN AND GUITARIST FOR OVER 47 YEARS AND THESE GUYS ARE PIONEERS OF METAL
