I built it back from the studs, waterproofed effectively over drywall, and laid tile for the first time ever! Let me know your thoughts about the tile design below!

    Many prayers for your son and your family. I have a severely autistic son, who has a LOT of outbursts, he is a runner and tries to get out any door and/or window. It's never ending. I know that is not what you are probably going through, but I understand the pain, worry and anxiety. Much love to you momma.

    Two things.... I have personally cut a lot of drywall in a lot of oddly shaped areas, but my hats is off to your cut of the green board for the upper right back of the shower. I probably would not have even attempted that zig zag you pulled off. Great Job! second, I was skeptical of the tile layout, but it is really awesome, I would never had that vision, again, Great Job! it looks incredible

    You are amazing! I’m so impressed. The last decade, I have been doing more DIY than ever before, now that TH-cam provides so many good instructors to help me replace a garbage disposal, or repair a second hand washer AND dryer, for example. Your “fearlessness” (thank you for being vulnerable as well) is an inspiration to repair some tile in my kids’ bathroom. That MuscleBound may be the thing that helps me overcome my fear of taking on tile work. It doesn’t look easy, and I’m guessing having two people would make it much easier, but somehow it seems less scary than using thinset.

    Bathroom is looking great. I'll be very curious to hear how the Musclebound holds up over time. I love tiling. If you ever decide to do it again, I recommend watching Sal Diblasi's channel. I've learned everything about tiling from him. Also, don't be afraid to go with thinset next time. It's surprisingly easy to use and seems to be much more forgiving than the Musclebound. And get yourself a tile snapper. They're great to use on straight cuts and you can use them in the house without making a mess. I only use my wet saw for the finicky cuts around shower valves, etc. That tile cutter you have looked a bit hateful. If you ever want to upgrade, Kobalt makes a great 7" wet saw that would speed up the process for you.

    Being a mom is worry about your kids, and no child is without challenge. If you are a mom like you, involved in your childs life, it is a constant balance to find help and accept your child as it is. Our society lays a lot of stress on us by creating a perfect picture. Thank goodness perfection doesn't exist. You get there, together with your son.

    Good tip on keeping the bottom of the tiles open to drain water seeping through the grout. Whoever did my tub caulked it and when I pulled it off it had mildew underneath. Now I want to re grout the whole tub. At least they did use a full tub insert to keep water out of the walls.

    I'm not saying it will take years to figure things out since we have better and better ways to help children, but it did take us time. Each step that was frustrating and felt like a setback set us further forward to find another way, and we found miracles in other steps that helped us so much. I am so glad you also talk about personal therapy as the miracles I mention are helps for kids as well as those raising them. Sometimes it is just a matter of finding the right resources that we didn't know or see. Sometimes there is a denial of help. But against the discouragement don't give up. There is at least someone who knows what you need, and it is likely there are a few people that can help. 😊

    When tiling, do the most visible wall first. That way the tiles on the side walls will hide the corner seam (make it less visible). Otherwise your cuts need to be super precise.

    Try the Mayo Clinic. Seriously. I’ve seen them solve mysteries and their treatment plans are breakthrough and wholistic. I’ve seen them in action, have a couple stories.
    About the time where you think so much about your family, try chewing gum? I’ve found this helps me focus on task (had to back off recently because my jaw was getting sore, lol). Might help, might not, maybe worth a try. Might also try different genres of music? I’ve found, depending on situation, music worked against me, but other times, helped me. Audio books (technical stuff, etc) might help to distract you.
    Hugs and prayers!

  • @Christian-cw9mp
    @Christian-cw9mp ปีที่แล้ว

    one thing i learned, is you have two choices: you put the water barrier behind the cement board, OR you put it on top of the cement board. You do not put it on both sides, or you get black mold all inbetween over time and you have to rip it all out and remediate it. I know you didn't use cement board. It doesn't matter what material is between the two vaper barriers, the same applies. It either has to dry out on the front side of the wall covering, or the backside of the covering, to prevent black mold. also, if the drywall goes over the tub lip, it will wick up inside to the ceiling every time the bottom gets any kind of water exposure. with two vaper barriers on both sides of the drywall, and the drywall going inside the tub and wicking, you most assuredly will have black mold all inside the wall. Please keep that in mind. I wish you all the best. You can contact the companies that provide the vapor barrier to confirm (Red Guard, etc.). I decided to put it on the back, even though I had many 5 gallon buckets of BLUE MAX waterproof sealer. I did 6 mil plastic followed by roofing paper wrapping from the bottom up. I am just sharing what I learned from my research. I respect your decision whether it is the same, or different. Have an amazing weekend!

    We are going through the same thing with my 7 year old. We have a psych evaluation in August (long waiting list). He's already been diagnosed as ADHD, but his teacher and some other professionals think he might be on the spectrum. It's been very challenging and stressful for my wife and I. So I know what you're going through. On top of that, he has ketotic hypoglycemia, which means his blood sugars can crash at any moment. He's been to the ER numerous times. Once went in an ambulance, his sugars dropped so low, we were minutes from losing him...
    We love our children! We'll do anything for them.

    Sra. Melissa: en primer lugar, desearle que su hijo esté bien pronto y que Dios les de la fuerza a su familia para acompañarlo. Con respecto al nivel láser, no siempre existieron y las cosas se hacían de todos modos. Por ejemplo aquí en Argentina es una herramienta muy costosa y no todos podemos tenerla. En su lugar seguimos usando nivel de manguera transparente y chalk line. Y en verdad, en su país han llevado la construcción en seco a otro dimensión con materiales que aquí no están disponibles. Salud y serenidad para su familia!!!
