The concept of the B2 is actually based on the german "Horten Ho IX". The USA took the last prototype of the Horton with them after they won WW2. Luckily the war ended early enough to prevent the completion of the bigger version of the Horten which was intended to carry atomic bombs all over the world A replica of the Horten can be found in the Air & Space Museum in San Diego. Another interesting fact is that it is proved the Horton was the first stealth bomber ever made.
The U.S. had been experimenting with powered flying wings before the Ho.IX project even began in '1943. There was nothing to learn from that aircraft. In fact the _YB-35_ shares the same wingspan as the _B-2._ The Ho.IX project and the _Go 229's_ produced from it were not intended for production. I've got to be honest, it's one of my favourite planes of all time, but it's not feared, its stealth hasn't been effective in a long time now and it's slow with a small payload, it would be picked out of the sky with even an old ground to air. If they were ever going to nuke someone it would never be with a plane, why would they when they have rockets. It's just a status symbol now. Submarines are most feared by a country mile.

THAAD and Aegis/Aegis ashore are the best SAM system/ICBM defense right now. The S400 is slightly better then the Patriot system, which is also trash. The s500 is supposed to be THAADs equivalent. Aegis/Aegis Ashore are portable ICBM defense on warships/land.
PS with an the F22/B2 bomber with a RCS of 0.0001m2 can't be seen by the S400s 91N6E radar which tracks targets 2 meters squared, wont see the F22/B2 until 21km out by then the s400 is destroyed.

it isn't fast b/c speed equals more exhaust heat which is detectable by radar. Keeping it slow and cool, along with it's shape and paint, means radar systems think it's the size of seagull and don't realize don't realize what happened until it's long gone

I've got to be honest, it's one of my favourite planes of all time, but it's not feared, its stealth hasn't been effective in a long time now and it's slow with a small payload, it would be picked out of the sky with even an old ground to air. If they were ever going to nuke someone it would never be with a plane, why would they when they have rockets. It's just a status symbol now. Submarines are most feared by a country mile.
