The better choice is getting both! 😛 But we're a little biased. We'll let the community chime in and advise on which you should pull the trigger on first. If you watched around the 43:00 mark and liked the "drum-machine-like" abilities of the JD-08 and you'd find that useful, that's what we'd recommend. In that section, the JX-08 is used for bass and pads. If you need/want that more than the percussive abilities of the JD-08, then you can start there.
My first reaction to these is "meh, it's just Roland's software emulations of old kit put into a hardware form". Then I think on, and my second reaction is "YAY, it's Roland's software emulations of old kit put into a hardware form, with proper physical controls". I want both.

If Dustin is speaking while sound is coming out of the unit, then there is some bleed from the monitor into the lav mic.
@ I hear ya. No thing. All good . Love
Probably too much to ask, but will the JX-08 also be able to act as a PG800 to program a JX8P?
Btw, i hope that Roland learns by the example of the Monologue which has oLed display while being much cheaper than the Boutique
series with their 80`s cryptic flow killer Displays
Killing it!👍💯
Is there a chance the tr09 is coming back again?
это самый замечательный обзор синтезаторов, что я видел. Спасибо!
Пожалуйста!
Great speaker!
what do the J X D and A mean in Roland synth names?
Just Dance
Just Xeno-ize
;p
J for jupiter
X for the X on the dx7 ( in the 80s the X connect peoples mind automatic with the DX7 😉 akai ax 80 , 60 , 73 too)
D i think is for Dual structures or so
A on boutiques for advance .
( imo )
Please correct me if im wrong
How to change the octave for midi control from the k25m for the sh01a? please help (there is written k25m is able to change about 10 octaves with an boutique model.. so how??)?
ayyy, they're still Aira compatible right ? I can't wait to plug with the dj808
should be
thanks for the video. one question: will the jd-08 also be capable of controlling the jd-990 parameters like the jd-800?
The JD-08 does not work as a plug and play external controller for the JD-990.
@@longandmcquade thanks for the info.
What´s the polyphony of the JD?
128, confirmed by Roland on Twitter.
Up to 128 voices.
@@st0rmchild I guess the only good thing about them using ABM.
@@ASH-ou4cg The JD-08 is just PCM (digital) - no analog components to emulate. The JX-08 is ABM (and supports up to 20 voices).
@@st0rmchild so likely nothing to lose at all, in how the JD-08 is emulated. I do wonder if it's still going to sound as crisp and bright, as the original?
So you can sequence Chords with the JX-08, by simply holding the individual Keys down with your fingers?
( Like the SH-01A? ...& unlike the JU-06A, with which you can only sequence single notes.
That in turn trigger "chord memory" :[ )
So I can connect this to a MIDI Controller, play a variety of Minor, Major, 7th & 9th Chords... & then have the
JX-08 play them back in Sequence, up to 64 Steps?
I was *SO* bummed when I discovered the JU-06A can't do this & really happy the SH-01A can!
Roland, please release a Firmware update, so I can run the SH-01A's Sequencer on my JU-06A!
Yes, you can definitely program the JX sequencer how you describe - with up to 8 notes per step on each part. Whether using the K-25M, or external MIDI via 5-PIN or USB, it all works.
@@longandmcquade Awesome! Thank you for the info! ...great to read this, cause the Synth is in the mail! :P
How the JU-06a comperce to these in the topic of functionality?
After you program your own patch, how do you save/write it please? Anyone thanks !!
Informative
Hello, I've got a question: Can there more than one sequence be saved? Or only 1 with part A and B? Cheers
Can i connect the jd08 via midi din so I can use it with a midi controller? I am not talking about USB midi I want to be able to use a proper midi controller and use this as a sound module with a yamaha sy22 synth?
Yes you can!
Awesomeness!!!
For my taste the JX 08 ist the best of the boutique synth 👍
Nice presentation. Can you chain patterns, or at least to change them on the fly without to lose the rythm?
unlikely
Yes you can chain patterns, and also if you select a new pattern while another is playing back, it will wait until the end of the current pattern to switch.
@@longandmcquade very nice, Roland is sticking to this pattern of chaining loops
How do i change the octave shift in the jx08?
Awesome video! really helped me learn the jd 08. Anyone know what would be a better choice, the jx 08 or ju 06? Can the jx do everything the ju 06 can?
The better choice is getting both! 😛 But we're a little biased. We'll let the community chime in and advise on which you should pull the trigger on first.
If you watched around the 43:00 mark and liked the "drum-machine-like" abilities of the JD-08 and you'd find that useful, that's what we'd recommend. In that section, the JX-08 is used for bass and pads. If you need/want that more than the percussive abilities of the JD-08, then you can start there.
I like how he says 'very cool' like its written in section 2, part A of the Roland instruction manual to acknowledge completion of that step 😂
How can such small sliders have usable resolution?
Hi, in roland Jd 08 how do I change the pitch bend of a sound from -2 to -12? How do I save a sound after making changes? Thanks
My first reaction to these is "meh, it's just Roland's software emulations of old kit put into a hardware form".
Then I think on, and my second reaction is "YAY, it's Roland's software emulations of old kit put into a hardware form, with proper physical controls".
I want both.
Hello, can i create a multisound ( 2 patches or more ) togheter ?
