I found a mistake in this episode, the clothing on the wall that Pike ended up wearing was still there when they went upstairs. This was Walkers last episode, you saw him in the outside shots but wasn't in the house because they were filmed separately.
@@sovietonion72 I had not seen the one with the clothing yet, but as for James Beck that's correct. Apparently that's why they took his name in the beginning when they were still in the van. It's curious that this is one of the best episodes, even though they had lost a fellow actor.
@@sovietonion72 Actually the continuity in all of the episodes was pretty appalling. I could highlight hundreds of instances where things were wrong. You notice them more when you watch the shows continuously like I do. Repeats were not a big thing in those days, but now that you can watch them endlessly, you pick up more mistakes the more you see them. Part of the fun for me is finding the mistakes but people get upset when you point them out to them endlessly as they think you are attacking an outstanding series.
Great quality - both sound and vision. Thank you for your efforts and your kindness. I'm old enough at 82 to well remember The Home Guard, and a grand job they did too under horrible circumstances.
No fear | No discrimination | No drugs and/or alcohol abuse | No foul language | No violence | No sex (isn't this great?) Humour is best when it's pure and godly.
If you're referring to the god of the Bible/Torah/Quran, then he/she/it was without humour, but was obsessed with violence, sex, fear and discrimination. Read your vile Holy book properly to see how immoral it's teachings are.
David Croft's shows always include catch phrases. "Stupid Boy " from this one and several from "Are You Being Served?" and "Allo Allo" The man was a genius.
Except that Walker had cancer and couldn't do this interior scene which was shot after the did the outdoor one weeks ago. Now Olivia is dead from cancer ...its a killer.
It's from the Goon Show. A radio serial from the 50s. The line refers to the running gag of the Boy Scout character Blue bottle falling in the water. My Grandad and Uncle's loved crazy random madcap humour of the Goons. I do too, after bumping into recordings in my 20s, some 20 years ago
It was the actor John Laurie (Frazer) who was the originator of the phrase, "We're doomed, we're doomed!". Apparently it was his reaction to reading the DA script for the first time.
Yes sadly it was as they filmed the outdoors scenes first and indoor/van scenes later - They tried to replace him with the Welsh guy but it didn't work out - only one Walker
@@dukewellington3174 I actually thought Mr Cheeseman was pretty funny. I think I saw somewhere that John Laurie wasn't happy because the Cheeseman character was impinging on his "regional accent" jokes territory and that was the reason the character was done away with.

Dad's Army was filmed, not video'd. After editing was completed the film was shown to a theatre audience and their laughter was recorded and added to a master film copy.

Wat een tijdloze humor...wat mis ik die tijd.

Notice how Walker appears in the outdoor shots but not in the studio sequences. I guess this must have been around the time James Beck passed away.

Great Character & portrayal by James Beck. So Sad
The beginning of Dead's Army,
what a loss indeed...
Funny that the "oldest one" was actually the youngest one in reality.
Not bad ⚡️
Why in this episode did Walker all the sudden show up? Never explained in real life...
Probably out disturbing 'essential supplies'
Because James Beck died during the making of it .

Never noticed lol😊
P.S. I've seen it when it was in B/W and don't remember the laughs, musta been a later addition, same thing happened with "Are you being served". Sad.
How I hate the "canned laughters"
