In this video it is observed that the 8-pin factory harness can not be reconnected to the stereo using the female end of the VOL01 harness.
Sadly all gone now 😢,but it was a load of laughs 😊

David Croft's shows always include catch phrases. "Stupid Boy " from this one and several from "Are You Being Served?" and "Allo Allo" The man was a genius.

It was the actor John Laurie (Frazer) who was the originator of the phrase, "We're doomed, we're doomed!". Apparently it was his reaction to reading the DA script for the first time.
P.S. I've seen it when it was in B/W and don't remember the laughs, musta been a later addition, same thing happened with "Are you being served". Sad.
How I hate the "canned laughters"
Dad's Army was filmed, not video'd. After editing was completed the film was shown to a theatre audience and their laughter was recorded and added to a master film copy.
Funny that the "oldest one" was actually the youngest one in reality.

Yes sadly it was as they filmed the outdoors scenes first and indoor/van scenes later - They tried to replace him with the Welsh guy but it didn't work out - only one Walker
@@dukewellington3174 I actually thought Mr Cheeseman was pretty funny. I think I saw somewhere that John Laurie wasn't happy because the Cheeseman character was impinging on his "regional accent" jokes territory and that was the reason the character was done away with.

Except that Walker had cancer and couldn't do this interior scene which was shot after the did the outdoor one weeks ago. Now Olivia is dead from cancer ...its a killer.

It's from the Goon Show. A radio serial from the 50s. The line refers to the running gag of the Boy Scout character Blue bottle falling in the water. My Grandad and Uncle's loved crazy random madcap humour of the Goons. I do too, after bumping into recordings in my 20s, some 20 years ago

Noticed that Walker was only in the outdoor parts. He obviously passed away before they they came to the studio shooting. A sad day when he went. Still remember him. One of the youngest going first. RIP. A wonderful show.
He was in hospital when studio scenes were filmed. Died weeks later.

About the best of British comedy I think. Strange as I'm English but I quite enjoyed the Dutch {??} subtitles. I actually read them and I felt that I was beginning to understand them.

That's likely, as it's probably the European language that's closest to old English, apart from maybe Danish. What may be more challenging is understanding us when we say these words and saying them just like that yourself. 😊
loved this show for many years ,grew up with it... what i find difficult to deal with is the british flag in the opening music together with the lyrics 'when you think old ' England's done'.... I am not alone in this for sure...

I found a mistake in this episode, the clothing on the wall that Pike ended up wearing was still there when they went upstairs. This was Walkers last episode, you saw him in the outside shots but wasn't in the house because they were filmed separately.
@@sovietonion72 I had not seen the one with the clothing yet, but as for James Beck that's correct. Apparently that's why they took his name in the beginning when they were still in the van. It's curious that this is one of the best episodes, even though they had lost a fellow actor.

Interesting facts about this show 1) it was written for Jon Pertwee (as Captain Mainwaring) to make a move from film and radio into TV - he rejected it and become Doctor Who instead 2) John LeMesurier was given the role of Captain Mainwaring instead (and somewhat resembles Jon Pertwee). The two main actors (LeMesurier and Arthur Lowe as 2nd in command) both agreed at the last minute that it would be funnier if they swapped places, and so Lowe and LeMesurier swapped roles. 3) The actor playing the old man Jones (Clive Dunn) was actually only in his late-40s and outlived everyone else in the main cast (apart from Pike/Ian Lavender) all of whom were dead by the early 80s - within 7 years of the final episode. This was sensationally reported as a 'curse' but is more likely to have been related to the age of those cast members.
Such a shame about Walker he was really irreplaceable.

I can't help but wonder how much funnier it would have been if Walker [James Beck] had been alive to finish out the series especially this episode I believe this is the first episode after his death
Yes it is. Note how he wasn't in the scenes inside the house, but is in the ones in the outdoors. The outdoor ones were filmed a while before the ones inside the house. There is also a major blooper. There is a whole story line in the beginning of the episode explaining why he is not there (gone to the smoke to do a deal), but is in scenes where they are chased by the hounds.
