I like how you stick to your format for each video as if a person is watching your vids for the first time. I notice how you point out your glasses not fitting for goggles. That's important stuff. I've been in fpv since October 2023 and I've watched your videos for months prior. You helped me get into the fpv hobby. Ive flown gps drones and mavics since 2018 so there's that experience. I have the avata and the potatoe currently lol. Recently I've been trying to decide on which REAL fpv drone I'm going to get. I love the vid you did on Flylens 85 and i think that'll be the one. Thanks for your content
I’ve had my Aquila 16 for a while now, and like many others have noted, the video quality wasn’t great initially. My first improvement-removing the wire monopole antenna from the VTX-helped significantly. Since I still don’t enjoy wearing the goggles, I acquired a separate VRX with HDMI output. Unfortunately, on a big screen, the poor video quality became even more apparent. Determined to improve this, I disassembled the VTX again. After cleaning the coating off the VTX board, I discovered that the wire antenna was soldered to a pad meant for a coax connector. I ordered some IPEX connectors, soldered one on, and added a length of coax to a homemade helical antenna with a ground plane. After increasing the VTX output power, the video quality and range improved dramatically. Changing the antenna on the goggles to another homemade antenna further enhanced the experience. I’m sure if someone used prebuilt VTX/VRX antennae , would experience an even greater improvement in video quality. Additionally, I wasn’t satisfied with how the camera was mounted in the canopy. After damaging the canopy, I contacted BetaFPV to request the STL file for a replacement. To my surprise, they sent me the STL file yesterday. Having taken apart the Aquila 16 numerous times, I’ve come to realize that BetaFPV releases their quad kits at a low price not because they are cheaply made, but because they use high-quality components and leave it to the customer to add the finishing touches. While this is just my opinion, seeing the high-quality tech paired with questionable items like the VTX wire monopole suggests that it’s by design, aiming to provide quality kits to customers at an affordable price. Just thought I’d share my experience.
I'm on the very beginner stage but I'm at least in the learning stage and enjoying the challenge of mastering this and I have better race drones but won't fly them till I master all the stages of this one
Flight time was very nice as a beginner. The field of view was close to what you would expect if you were in the drone. Quite easy to fly. Need to make a charger the mates right up to the battery. (Not a deal breaker but it would be a NICE touch)
Had a jolly time flying through the house. Flew a charge in an H pattern around the room without goggles. Then did the exercise with the goggles. It's weird to hear the drone vs what you see through the camera. Very fun
It kinda seems like a camera drone with fpv controls. I think that's cool because slowly a beginner could change from camera drone to full manual mode. It seems to be a decent price for everything you get. I just wish we got to see how the goggles that came with it look. Geez it looks pretty nimble in manual mode. I like that it looks like the avata but I guess that sucks battery wise.
I appreciate the fact that you don't have to earn different flight modes,or download an app. Great reviews on the beginner fpv. Looking forward to learning fpv,and to do it without a simulation is better for me. Thank you for the great content

Hello. Which of the Betafpv Aquila 16 and GepRc TinyGo 4k would you recommend to beginners? Which one should I grow later? I like the looks of both of them and I can't decide.
These RTF kits are only designed so that you dip your toe into the FPV Drone Hobby, so get the one at the best price. In short, I’d say the AQUILA 16 is for people that fly DJI Mavics and have terrible hand/eye coordination from flying drones that do all the flying for you. The TINYGO requires a bit more skill so it is more for people with good hand/eye coordination.
Nope, not really. The reason I say that is because the pilots of this FPV drone are beginners, thus manual mode will take plenty of practice to master. If you eventually master manual mode without constantly crashing and you learn to do flips, then consider it, but it will significantly reduce flight time.
Because it is not designed for Pro Pilots like me. Pro Pilots use two joysticks at the same time in various directions. Beginners can’t do this skill, so the drone is designed for the way a beginner would fly.
I know this video is 4 months old but which would you choose for an absolute fpv noob. This kit or the cetus pro? Only a $50 difference between the 2 and they seem similar in many ways. Is the aquila worth the extra cash or not?
This one (Aquilla16) seems to be made for the total noob with zero FPV experience and poor hand/eye coordination, so that one would be my recommendation for a beginner.
just a question, i was wondering if this thing could hold an action camera like the insta360 go3, it weighs 35 grams. And i wonder if the drone could hold it.
Hello captain, how are you ? 😊 i just got the kit and im trying to connect the controller with the pc but the pc cannot recognize it , how i can connect it normal are available some drivers ?? Thank you in advance 🙏🏻
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 hello , thank you for your reply , no its not so very old its about 2-3 years old and i do as you showed and nothing, its says StM32 driver error. Not fpvjoystick
@@stavrosamvrosiou1297It uses the same external driver (USB) that every external controller uses so it means the issue is your computer. Your USB ports lack any modern drivers.
Capt having multiple batts is no fun with the 2 batt charger. Betafpv has a 6 port 1S charger would that work with the cables for Aquila 16 batteries.??
Well, the Aquila battery says the connector is a BT 2.0, and the six port charger says BT2.0, so logic says it works. You’t just need the extension cables from battery to charger.
13:30 So is the manual mode not like true acro mode? I was looking to maybe get this quad but I don’t want it to try to correct my flying if I’m doing freestyle.
certainly a beginners kit look's good in flight and prise not bad. {yes i noticed your growth keep growing it ready for Christmas Ho Ho Ho} good review as always Captain}
Nice but they are all missing one thing. It’s called failsafe. If you fly out of range or behind something and lose signal it crashes. They at least need hover in position when signal is lost.
Close to it. If you fly in SLOW MODE with OPTICAL FLOW is is a bit less because of the power draw for the optical flow. If you fly in MANUAL mode in slow speed on a straight course with no flips/rolls then 8 mins is possible.
Great review! You said during the outdoor flight that manual mode tries to correct itself and that it feels weird, is it not the same as a true acro mode on professional drones? Also did you happen to test the maxium range on it?
Range is based on video signal and battery (you need power to return). There is no video antenna sticking way out of the drone so video range will suffer.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 You said during the outdoor flight that manual mode tries to correct itself and that it feels weird, is it not the same as a true acro mode on professional drones?
@@BennettSmith-tz5tv Correct. It is not the same, at least on the version i had. It tries to be, but it also wants to toss in a bit of beginner mode to protect the drone. BetaFPV could have changed or updated this at anytime since my video.

Do you think this guy will be able to support a runcam thumb or thumb pro? (The pro might be harder to power as it requires a 4S source, minimum)
Only use small cameras that weigh little and have their own powersupply.
Probably not. It would not fly very well.
Good evening captain really nice drone cool set up always great review
Thanks 👍
Hello captain, how are you ? 😊 i just got the kit and im trying to connect the controller with the pc but the pc cannot recognize it , how i can connect it normal are available some drivers ??
Thank you in advance 🙏🏻
How old is your PC? If you did as I showed in my video it should work.
Hey Steve did a bird run into it
W8ted so long for this video thank uuuu
Capt having multiple batts is no fun with the 2 batt charger. Betafpv has a 6 port 1S charger would that work with the cables for Aquila 16 batteries.??
Well, the Aquila battery says the connector is a BT 2.0, and the six port charger says BT2.0, so logic says it works. You’t just need the extension cables from battery to charger.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 As I thought, but wanted your sage advice from the great North. Seriously, you are the expert. Thank you my friend!!!
13:30 So is the manual mode not like true acro mode? I was looking to maybe get this quad but I don’t want it to try to correct my flying if I’m doing freestyle.
I did not find it to be like full blown ACRO because it kept trying to take over when I used two joysticks when turning/banking.
I want know which do you recommend for beginners, Aquila16 or Cetus pro?🤔
For true beginners with very low hand/eye coordination the Aquila16 is best
@@CAPTAINDRONE798
Wow!!! thanks!🥳🌟
You’re very kind !!
I’m fan of you and your video from Japan !!😆🙌🙌
certainly a beginners kit look's good in flight and prise not bad. {yes i noticed your growth keep growing it ready for Christmas Ho Ho Ho} good review as always Captain}
so, which one is good? cetus x or aquila? I just start to fpv and don't decide between this models..
You can’t go wrong with either
Nice but they are all missing one thing. It’s called failsafe. If you fly out of range or behind something and lose signal it crashes. They at least need hover in position when signal is lost.
Unfortunately that is not something in the FPV or RC plane & helicopter hobby unless you fly GPS camera drones
Hey captain, You think this drone can do any powerloops or trippe spins?
Yes, but not at all very well. Get a pro drone for that.
Any testing on battery capacity, thats the big sell for this drone. Is it infact an 8 minute flight ??
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Thank you!
Hello, what do you think is better? "Meteor75 Pro" or "AQUILA16"? or maybe I should take both, I just want to fly on fpv and I’m wondering which one to take))))
If you are a beginner, which I think you are since you are asking this question, go with the Aquilla16
Hi can I use the goggles and transmitter for other fpv drones with elrs
Yes
why is there an audio port?
Steve, 😊Great job with the video.
Thanks 👍
Do I need something to hold the 550 battery with if so what would you recommend.
I used a small piece of double sided tape. You could use Velcro or an elastic band.
I bought the CetusX and really like it, now this one seams a bit too tame. How would you compare this drone with the CetusX? Enjoyed your video👍👍😀
This one is designed for first timers with no hand/eye coordination
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Thanks!
I have the Cetus fpv kit. I would like to practice online like you did in this video. What’s the website so I can practice like you?
Sign up to the STEAM website
Hey Capitan howz things ? Are you going to try and review the xxl Futura Tomahawk RC Jet ... It would be off the hook if you made a video on one
I have one. I may make a video of it if I get a chance.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 I just can't believe just how big that thing is WoW 👍😳
Another good review Steve
Thanks 👍
I loved the review, could you compare this to the whoopfly16 rtf combo? Also can this drone fly with a dji action 2 camera?
This drone is for new pilots with no hand/eye coordination. The whoopfly16 is for new pilots “with” hand/eye coordination.
Cetus x or Aquila 16 please tell me sir
is that possible to mount small runcam with this drone?
RunCam? Runcam’s are not that small, so nope, not on this drone.
Will the drone be able to carry a DJI ACTION 2 56g + 5g for a mount? I do not find any payload definition. Thanks in advance!
Hell no!
Can you use goggles and controler whit other drones
Yes. Use controller with ELRS drones. Use goggles with ANALOG VTX drones.
@ can I use controller and goggles on the same drone? Does such a drone exist?
Hello, I'm a beginner and I don't know what to buy, what do you recommend from the review you did?
BETAFPV Aquila16 or Sub250 Whoopfly16 or geprc tinygo 4k.
If you have no hand/eye coordination then you’ll want to begin with the Aquila16
