Jethro Bronner Hi, I’ve been following for a while with astonishment and admiration for your patience, dedication skills and knowledge. I think finishing your projects before you start another one would really help your channel grow to what it deserves to be (we wanna see those 105’s drive!) It’s just more satisfactory as a viewer. I imagine real life is complicating this proces though. Keep up the good work! Greetings from Belgium.
So that’s what an Alfa engine should sound like - no slaps, tinkles, knocks or whatever. Liked the pre-start oil pressurisation protocol and the key Pre-Fit subassembling stages.
Amazing restorations - I remember 1977 - The Oil Crisis, when all Gasoline Stations in SA closed on a Friday at 6:00pm and only opened up at 6:00am on Monday - I drove with my friend in his Alfa Giulietta from College in Pretoria to Cape Town for the long Weekend. We stored Gasoline in the Trunk using empty 25liter paraffin cans, the square ones, as they packed perfectly in the trunk. We made the first leg near to Bloemfontein and filled up and then drove carefully all the way through the Northern Cape, through the Karoo on to Cape Town on our gasoline cans. Wonderful little car and brings back memories of a bygone era. Now, I am relegated to driving a gas guzzling Cayenne Twin Turbo V8 and driving my 1991 Fiat Turbo Uno in Cape Town when I come back to SA. Keep up the good work. Never throw any classic car away!
Currently working on my 83 spider veloce. As a college freshman it’s very refreshing to see success on these older Alfas. I live in America, so there are very few mechanics that work on them and can offer advice. I was lucky to study as an apprentice for 3 years under one of them, and I still have a lot to learn. 👍
The look of trepidation on your face as you turned the engine over for the first time, posts testament to the hours of work and set-backs you've had on this build. Great stuff and well done.
Hi Jethro. I am so happy for you. Bought a garage across the road from the old Drill Hall in Johannesburg in 1984, along with my Italian Alfa trained mechanic partner. We rebuilt a 2.0 square back, replacing every nut and bolt, hood, every rubber. It was not as new - it was better than new. Never had one moment's trouble with it. Had to sell it when we had our 3rd child. I'm now 62, and really miss it. If only I hadn't sold it....
@@JethroBronner It might be prudent to run the engine for a while, take the oil filter off, unroll it from the canister and then fold it so you can use a vice to squeeze the oil out and check for metal flakes or particles.
