The cast of union members in this video was great! Union members need to know their rights. Having union representation is helpful to the member, in stressful moments like this scenario. Great resource and educational.

Great job with this video. The dramatization was very well done. As a new steward, it gave me great advice on what I should do before, during, and after the meeting. Also, it pointed out additional information that I should be looking at like the FMLA along side the company policy. ☆☆☆☆☆

The one thing you Fucked up on... Is that the Employee DOES NOT have to sign the write up LEGALLY, especially if they disagree with the Write up.... For Arbitration reasons!!!

+Mizz Vicious An employee has a right to review their own employee records kept by the company and place in the file a written response by the said employee to anything that they disagree with in that file. It's Federal law.

Employee should have submitted FMLA at the onset of asking for more time off than the normal time permitted.

Employer is required to ask them to do so. If they have a reasonable awareness that the absences may be covered

Signing your employee handbook does not mean that you are stating that you completely understand everything inside. It just simply means that you are in receipt of the handbook. Employers often think when employees sign the handbook that means they understand everything inside. Totally false. it's just a formal acknowledgement that you received information.

I have a question. I’m a union shop steward in California. I wanted to ask are we allowed to exercise Weingarten rights DURING an interview? I was told we may not be allowed to.

So question, what would you say if the supervisor tries not to give alone time if he asked. Can you ask for it if employee does not ask
    Thanks NPMHU

Yes, the steward can ask for a caucus even if the member does not and you can remind the manager that the member has that right. However, (at least to my knowledge as of 2017), if you've already had a private caucus, the National Labor Relations Board hasn't ruled on the issue of whether or not a steward can insist on a second or additional caucuses. So you can always give it a shot and say they need to give it to you (fingers crossed!) but you might be better off trying diplomacy to get the caucus in that case rather than saying it's a hard line legal right.
