Just watched this movie again. I can relate more now than I was ten years ago. Moving from China to London, I'm beginning to understand why they say "“people going to England find exactly what they go looking for.”
I love movies and film and this movie has managed to avoid me seeing it until just a short while ago. It was such an endearing story and I found myself wanting to reach out and loan the money so she could go to England. I recall my first trip there and how much I enjoiyed it.
I love this movie, it's fun to see it through fresh eyes. It so unusual, told in a way that should never work, but its so beautifully acted by Anthony Hopkins and Anne Bancroft, you can't help but love it [in stranger moments, I like to think this movie is Hannibal Lecter and Mrs. Robinson trading letters] Thanks for the fun trailer

I remember watching this when it came out in 1987-8. What a wonderful film! Anthony Hopkins' voice is a bonus.
Such a lovely story and film. About friendship and kindness, by people separated by an ocean.
Thanks TGP! Enjoying this in Netflix! All the best!
Amazing story, amazing actors, amazing film...

Well done! I had just viewed the original trailer (at IMDB), which was not very appealing. This is much better.
@@staninco Thank you so much!
