I have seen a psychology study that says since the hours past during the day, people tend to have good habit in the begininng of the day (salads, no sugar...), then at the end, they eat all against their diet (ice cream, pizza, alcohol...). I've always enjoyed Aliester Crowley's definition of a "habit." He categorized habits as unconscious actions driven by the lower or animal self and therefore what he considered "black magick." Habits were formed out of desire of comfort whereas conscious change and action were begat of willpower and awareness of oneself.

Could you describe the mental wind-down you mentioned before you go to bed? It usually takes me a little bit to fall asleep as that's when my brain starts going into overdrive and wants to analyze everything. I used to smoke a little weed before going to sleep but I'm not into the idea of numbing myself down, I'd rather be able to do it on my own.
I used to be quite good at what you describe, then I started smoking weed and didn't really have to 'intend' to fall asleep as I was able to just zone out and got used to the comfort and ease of doing that, but you build up a tolerance and after a while I'd be looking for the numb-state which only last as long as the effects of weed does (4 hours). So I realized pretty quickly I had no benefit in seeing what was at the end of that road and stopped that. I calmed my mind down yesterday and fell asleep way quicker... I guess I just re-build that habit back up again, which exactly the point of this video ^^
Hi +Daffmeister187 I had the same problems. And I think that he solution is to do more things during the day, specially sport. Since I started training every day, I fall sleep really fast. Also one tip that I recomend is to read 15-20 min on the bed, that´s a great way to finish your day and sleep like a baby.

To get a little more detailed, the best thing I picked up from the book is the "cornerstone habit". It's a very simple habit that you commit to doing no matter what. Once you keep doing this habit, eventually it will become second nature and you'll want to add another habit. This is the key. A simple cornerstone habit gets you in the habit of making habits. Then you can literally do anything you want. I started with flossing. I downloaded a habit tracking app on my phone, put "floss" and started flossing every day. I flossed every day for one year except once when I was in a hotel, and that night I stood in front of the mirror and flossed with imaginary floss. I wasn't fucking around. So then I added another habit. And another. Finally I wrote in my app "no alcohol". I didn't have a sip of alcohol for 365 days in a row. You have no idea how big of a deal that was for me. The key is just keep doing it everyday, just do it that day, don't worry about the future. Just one day at a time.
