Just read his book brilliant read, what a difference in his day. When he was 15 he had scored 570 goals in 3 seasons absolutely unbelievable achievement. What a player.
I once met Tommy Lawton at my local pub in North East Wales, by the landlady who was called Carol. He called Tommy her father, but it was her stepfather. He was failing in health, but being relatively young I didn’t realise what a legend he was later on. I met several legends and as it was back in the day. they were unassuming and relatively lacking in financial gain or prosperity
Probably the best header of the ball England have ever had . It's well documented how he had the knack of hanging in the air while the opposing centre half was on his way down. How much would he have been worth today.
Seems so unfair that he had to survive during his later years on supplementary benefits when players today who couldn't lace his boots are multi millionaires.
What wouldn’t we give for Lawton now! UTFT💙💙💙

4:34 Tommy Lawton's story about when he first played with Sir Stanley Matthews is bloody hilarious 🤣🤣🤣
At about 3.25 just look at the crowd. Almost every man was wearing a shirt and tie and a cap or hat. Our grand dad's knew how to dress for a game.

This program was made either late 1981 or early 1982. Sadly Tommy died in 1996.

unfortunately Mr Lawton was still ignorant about property. Bricks and mortar is still the best investment long term
My first new boots (other from jumble sales with nailed on studs) were "signed" Tommy Lawton, bet he didn't see much of a percentage...
Yes my new boots were “Tommy Docherty Autograph”. So you can tell how old I am.
Peter Allis interviewing him. Didn't know he was involved outside golf
10:44 Those words i found desperately sad.
Harry Enfield had a great game
When was this
He was my nans uncle meaning he was my great great uncle
That bald headed goalkeeper was bloody awful.
