  • More Liverpool Railway Relics as we look at what is left of both Great Howard Street Goods Station and the approach lines into the former Exchange Station.
Great Howard Street Station opened in 1848 and by 1851 passenger services had been transferred to Tithebarn Street Station, which later became Exchange Station
Great Howard Street survived as a goods station until 1963. Unfortunately the site has been cleared, however there are still a lot of relics remaining including the Grand Arch.
The approach lines into Exchange Station were carried on two viaducts. One survives still in use, however when the new underground section of Merseyrail was constructed in the 1970s, this led to the demolition of most of the Great Howard Street site.

Great video, it would be great to see some drone footage of the old viaducts that led into Exchange Station to see what's left up there.

Thanks. Unfortunately I don't have a drone but that is a really great idea for a video. Bet there is still a lot of the infrastructure still on the viaducts
