An update due to having gotten comments about it. That comment about Dinosaur Simulator, mentioned alongside Era of Terror and its retro counterpart run by Petwal, is not warranted. The game has a history of hiring very sketchy and bad people, but as far as I know they've been doing well now. Chicken Engineer in particular has never been problematic to my knowledge.
Amazon ascension is also a very good game. Though it has progression like the old isle but the combat is also fun. As I'm typing this it costs 25 robux. It will become free in the future though.
As a hyena main, yeah, it’s like that. You could literally be half way across the map, but somehow, a random predator (usually lions, since 90% of servers consist of lions) will hunt you down and kill you.
Yeah Cheetahs and Wild Dogs are perfect examples of animals nerfed by how the players don't act like real animals. Now they could be viable if heat is added to the game, in which hunting during the middle of the day drains stamina more quickly for most predators. It is during the hottest part of the day that Cheetahs and Wild Dogs most often hunt, because their competition and prey are nerfed and they handle the heat better. Could be a good balancing mechanic, give the diurnal hunters an actual edge instead of punishing them for not having night vision. Also most importantly IT NERFS LIONS.
I do think if pulled off correctly a temperature system could be a good method of indirectly nerfing or atleast limiting larger animals whilst benefitting smaller ones. Like you’ve mentioned wild dogs and cheetahs are generally more active throughout the day, wild dogs especially use this to help wear down their prey even more efficiently than otherwise.
Love the “Run Boy Run” cover during the Impala and gazelle segment. Also, I’m a hyena and leopard main, as they are two of my favorite African animals. And I’m pretty good at playing solo as a hyena, I just slink in the shadows, eating whatever carcasses I can find.
If you're good enough, as a warthog, you can indeed make a den entrance too small for lions, and maybe leopards or cheetahs. Also the morphing of the map is just so fun. I can spend hours as one, making a floating dirt island, running a free den service where I dig people quality dens, making inescapable pits of death, doom and destruction...

In fact I'd argue that the only real reason leopards are the dominant predator in Iran is because of how few Iranian Cheetahs there are,if a couple thousand are in Iran they could pretty easily become the apex predator there.
When the recode comes out in 7,000 years (joke, they literally only need to do eating and drinking animations) all of the animals you just listed will be coming to the game, as well as ostriches, baboons, and even aardvarks.

Gotta agree with you on basically everything you had to say about the painted wolf. My favorite animal in the game is F tier because it takes a lot of them to be a formidable force. Literally the only things you can hunt down as a lone painted wolf are impalas (mainly the does but, if you’re skilled enough, you can take down the bucks) and Thomson’s gazelles. It’s incredibly rare to even accomplish that because of those player’s tendencies to come crying to the nearest buffalo instead of actually using safety in numbers with their own kind in the first place. If players actually had good communication skills and were able to work together consistently, painted wolves could be higher on the tier list.
Also, if you’re a warthog and you’re gonna use a burrow, use it right. Warthogs will enter their burrow (which is technically a vacant aardvark burrow in most real life circumstances) rump first and use their heads with tusks as a shield. It worked well for me against a lioness one time, but the combat mechanics have to be worked on if this is ever going to be a viable strategy.
P.S. Although I mainly play alone as a spotted hyena, I’ve become a specialist at hunting buffaloes. I’ve been able to take down lone adult buffaloes by grabbing the upper lip (which immobilizes them and makes them unable to attack as long as you’re grabbing the upper lip). I’m not a one trick pony, tho. Another place I often grab is the *ahem* batteries. This strategy has worked for me more than 5 times without me dying in those situations.
yea the painted wolf one once I was with 2 other painted wolves like a little trio, we planned to hunt an impala that was near wetlands (we only did wet4lands because I suck at the map skills) and what did it do RUN RIGHT INTO THE CHAOS even thou the animals may not be fighting us we don't want to be killed because it took me like hours to get to wetlands
You can take down prey as large as topi and kongoni with the wild dog alone, I have done it before, but you can’t just plow in and try to attack the whole time, you have to dance around the topi or kongoni and aim for the most vulnerable spot, the rear, and they will eventually go down, I’ve also seen a wild dog solo a zebra but that was a while ago so I am not 100% sure if it’s still possible, but wild dog still isnt good regardless because it has no answer to other predators besides cheetahs unless it joins a hyena clan or by some miracle a large wild dog pack
This is a great tierlist, as someone who's been playing Wild Savanna for about 2-3 years now (it's not that long but I'm not completely new either), I totally agree with you. I'm currently waiting for the big update and can't wait to play either crocodile, hippo, baboon and maybe aardvark if they all release in said update. My biggest problem with the game right now is that I don't see anybody playing really playing any other animal than lion, hyena and buffalo. Sure, I get their one of, if not the strongest in the lion's case, strongest and effecient animals to play as, but I would like to see the playerbase have a bit more variety. Now I'm gonna ramble about some moments I've had playing Wild Savanna, if anyone reading this doesn't mind. Me and my friend would go around messing around with lions and doing "population control" (although this was when lions were just even more populated in servers then they are today) but I'm pretty sure it was an excuse to play some pretty fun herbivores! I played a wildebeest/gnu and my friend played as a zebra, and very few lions were able to compete with us. We would take on whole lion prides, male coliations, etc. just by working together and being on the offense. I'm not saying we didn't face some formiddable lion opponents, such as duo of lionesses we fought who were really good at the game, a mixpacking lion pride and hyena clan, a very large lion coalition; which I'm talking about like 7 male lions. It was all in good fun and those were genuinely some of the most enjoyable moments I had in Wild Savanna. There was also a time where me and one of my other friends were playing as wild dogs and managed to take down a lioness. Although we didn't die, it took 100+ bites to kill her off. So while it was possible, it was also a big pain to pull off, and it takes a large amount of patience, which some players don't have. At the end of the day, this is me just rambling about my experiences, and I don't expect anyone to pay any attention to this whole essay of a comment, but the game is really fun if you want to either fight, be realistic or just have a good time. Although I've taken a break off the game for a bit, I plan to play it more when the big update drops, so I'm waiting for that. Anyone who read this far, I hope you have a nice day or night.
A ws tier list is something that i have waited for a long time, the game is really fun and although it has its flaws (Lions being too common and how the majority of the map feels like empty space) i still find myself coming back to it because of how satisfying things are, i really enjoyed this tier list and altrough i don't agree with everything on it, i still enjoyed it for the most part.
Personally i dont agree with leopards on top of hyenas. You pointed that a major downside of being a hyena is that they're “a punching bag.” for common animals, but this depends on skill and patience. As a hyena you can easily solo a leopard or a topi depending on how good the opposing player is. A good strategy that many hyena mains dont use is to make the prey run which will efficiently tire the prey, when their stamina is low they’ll stop and all you need to do is juke attacks and attack from behind.
As a leopard main , i would have to agree, of course in 1 on 1 combat the leopard often defeats the hyena, however in general survival hyenas have the advantage since leopards have to rely on stealth to get close to their targets which can be risky, whilst the hyena just needs to chase prey
@@raptormage2209 True. The only thing i dont like about hyena vs leopard is that leopards can pounce hyenas. In real life, hyenas are too big for leopards to pounce, a female hyena is the weight of a female leopard which is why in most situations a leopard will try intimidate and not try kill it.

Here’s a tip for solo hyena and wild dog players, when faced with a herbivore that’s strong enough to win the fight, use your superior stamina to your advantage (dance around the prey, circle it and aim for the rear or nose, the nose is recommended for the zebra as they can’t attack you, and the rear is recommended for everything else) using this tactic, you can take down much larger prey than you could have when just trying to plow through and hoping for the best, I’ve taken down buffalo as a lone hyena and topi and kongoni as a lone wild dog with this tactic, but I’d still argue that wild dogs are still high F or low D, as they have absolutely no answer to predators besides cheetahs especially if caught off guard (which is the most likely way to die as a wild dog as you can be one pounce KO’d by the big cats)
Such a shame cause wild dogs are fun to play, but the game is such a lion fest that playing anything that is vulnerable to lions is less enjoyable then it it should be, had there not been such an abudance of those cats, then maybe wild dogs would elevate to a higher tier , C tier as best
If you ever plan on making a Cenozoic survival tier list here’s my opinion: S tier: kelenken A tier: elk (male). B tier: quagga, elk (female). D tier: dire wolves (same issue as painted dogs in wild Savannah) Edit: this will probably change drastically once other large predators are actually added (smilodon, megalania, cave bear, etc)
Honestly I'd put the wolves in a similar tier to the painted wolves in this game in my opinion. Rather efficient hunters, just get bullied by many other things and need extensive numbers, skill, and coordination to accomplish things effectively. I've seen wolves shred solo elk and quaggas, even bulls, but I've also seen a single elk bull or kelenken kill five wolves at once then successfully retreat. And even in my experience even a pack of 6 wolves attacking a lone quagga ends up with some casualties with most of your pack dying. Also it is absolutely miserable if you play a lone wolf since a lone wolf effectively gets bodied by everything, which is completely understandable but there is almost nothing you can do or eat besides carrion. The only thing you might be able to kill besides players with a major skill issue are deer fawn and those are rather rare outside of being defended by other elk. I do imagine though it will be far better once smaller animals are added since those will add more prey options to the fast and enduring wolves.
i dont agree with the dire wolf even though yes it will be bodies by most creatures there will soon be other animals to deal with the painted wolf prombelms thylacines (need no explations) tomarctus (like a pack hunting onmivores canid more like a coyote) and hyaenicthrium wongill (yes its a hyena buts its one of those dog hyenas like the aardwolf and its bewteen a jackal and a coyote)
This is really well done! Through in my opinion/experience, I disagree with the placement of Marabou storks and Zebras; Id place the stork in A tier, but behind the others simply due to its attacks being stationary on the ground and unavailable in the air, however they are INCREDIBLY powerful. To the point that any other bird trying to fight them on the ground is done for, and even being able to do significant damage to Lycaons if they refuse to run away abusing that they have no ability to quick turn and keep running behind them. As for Zebra id honestly rank as the highest herbivore, possibly even being placed in S tier if we are talking in terms of engagement- yes, they are weaker than either Giraffes or Buffalo, and certainly can't stand up to prides of lions like they can, but they make up for in being able to fight everything much more comfortably. They have impressive stats in speed and stamina, and are fairly beastly when it comes to health compared to other typical prey animals, meaning you can shrug off pounces if you time the minigame well. Most other herbivores only have 2 attacks, Giraffes have three, but Zebras have a whopping 5! They have two individual back kicks for each leg, a devastating buck that can be used while running, a frontal stomp, and even a trample attack which while clunky to use, is devastating towards smaller predators and can quickly sweep entire groups if they aren't careful. Combine all these factors for the Zebra, and you basically have the herbivorous equivalent of Lions. Not in power, mind you, but with how comfortably they can handle every carnivore in the game in most situations. The only carnivore they struggle with in a 1v1 situation are male lions, which they can simply run away from without any difficulty. A single well-placed buck to the head can one shot any predator.

i called it on your wild dog video haha, i'm gonna watch it and give a quick review after Edit: So far, I agree with everything except 1 thing: the stork. The stork can absolutely defend itself from birds if it goes on land, as on land, it has a right click attack specifically made for this purpose, where it does the normal peck, except upwards. Another thing i'd like to add is that the zebra has 2 running attacks, the behind kick, and what somewhat resembles a charge, where it stomps forward multiple times while running for around 2-3 seconds. I find this ability to be strangely effective, as most players can't distinguish it from the normal running animation, and pay the price.
you should really try Wolfquest 3, tho you must already know it since you used their soundtrack for the painted wolf part, Wolfquest is a really fun and realistic game

I agree with pretty much the whole video, I was actually waiting for someone to make a wild savanna tier list, this is a really good game that is a whole lot of fun! It does need a bit more balancing, as the big 3 (lions, buffaloes, giraffes) are the only 3 animals that can stay on the ground consistently without having to constantly be on the run. But I really enjoy this game!
hyenas are really really good if you are a good user lol I used to destroy prides with a friend back when i’d main hyena it was a busted animal back then when the yeen combat was out and vr still existed
6:10 what's interesting is the fact that Cheetahs are one of the 2 species of wild cat known to group hunt,they are actually pretty smart in general and there are multiple videos of cheetahs working together to bring down prey(either work together or some distract while the others ease in on a lone baby or injured member of a herd).
I would love to play this game again. Unfortunately, my friend decided he hated this game when we learned that leopards can not do any damage whatsoever to a lioness. One kept stealing all our food and we decided to finally make a stand because we were starving. We were getting so many hits and she couldn't land a hit on us. But after a while, we learned that leopards don't do any damage and that's the point my friend declared this game to be so stupid that it's not worth playing anymore. Sad day. Please tell me they fixed that? I really wanna play with my friend again.
May i say that leopards aren't supposed to 1. Team up and 2. Actually stand up to lions unless cubs are involved, were basing the stats, animations, mechanics off of real life and we decided to make leopards non-offensive against lions. I hope this can provide an explanation for interactions between those two species in the game.

So a leopard just isn't allowed to deal any damage to her, no matter how small? Basing it off real life? Are we really saying that a leopard in real life can do absolutely no damage to a lioness no matter how hard they try? According to this game, leopard teeth and claws just magically bounce off skin if that skin belongs to a lioness in real life? Also, no combat that doesn't involve cubs? What if it does involves cubs? How is a leopard supposed to defend those cubs like you say if they can't even deal damage? Also, it was our first time playing. We were not roleplaying realism, nor told that we were on a realism server (in fact, I'd say the lioness wasn't being very realistic either). My friend wanted to be a leopard, so we were leopards together.

You simply leave them the kill, you can't deal decent damage simply because leopards cannot physically pounce lions and we aren't about to let lions die to paw swipes that's just broken. Lions are massive in comparaison to leopards so no its a lost cause even if we made damage available to them. Its like asking for gazelle to be able to damage leopards its useless and doesn't do anything. Second if it involves cubs you just use it as a distraction enough to just have your cubs get to safety.
I have not played the game at all so I think I shouldn't be taken seriously here, but I like balance so here's some ideas on the top of my head. Frankly I feel that impala and gazele would be a lot more fun if cheetahs and painted dogs were better. They are probably the only predators they can fight off, so improving them would probably make the prey more fun since there's stuff you can actually fight off now. Warthogs holes should not be big enough for lions and with a flat hard head, they could be immune to pounces from the front (unless its a lion due to their size) and take less damage. They could also use this to block off smaller carnivores from their tunnels as they can't get pass that thick boney skull. For painted dogs, I think they should be allowed to borrow and make dens too small for any other predator to fit in. This gives them more engaging gameplay while also keeping them safe and differentiating them from hyenas. For cheetahs, they simply need more stamina (not too much), a fixed hitbox, and I'm thinking a higher jump so they could perch on rocks too tall for other predators to reach them.
I think the main thing impala and gazelle need is a stamina increase to give them a better chance at evading the pursuer, as for the other points, a new burrowing system is in the works (basically dryo from the isle) th-cam.com/video/6cPHc1zLIVY/w-d-xo.html painted dogs and warthogs will be able to enter abandoned aardvark burrows and use them as their own cheetahs will be able to climb to escape predators and eventually get a focus mechanic allowing them to track the movements of whoever they are following (kinda like the lock on in wolfquest)
Hey scanova, love the content however I do have a slight issue with the video. With the warthog you mentioned that they cant make a burrow that there predators cant enter, while this is true for the most part it is actually possible to make a burrow that lions cant get in. It’s difficult but it’s possible to make it in a way were it impossible for lions to enter, no matter how hard they try
Hope they add crocs at some point. Maybe some venomous snakes too like cobras or mambas. Would definitely diversify the gameplay a little bit and maybe help to give some competition to some of the bigger threats in this list if done right. Or act as prey for the birds for example.
My opinion here, I think marabou is the most fun animal in the thentire game (granted I havn’t played any Alan’s animals aside from the gazelle, cheetah and little bit of leopard) it is amazing for trolling, being able to 3 or 4 shot eagles but it has a glich wich allows it’s to, instead of landing and taking fall damage when touching the ground like other birds, it instead drastically speeds up and doesn’t land, which allows for serious trolling.
In the wild, Painted Wolves actually do better in the wild than how they do in game. It is just that at that the time people play them less. And they are meant to be in packs cause family.
warthogs in the new update (I think) will not be able to burrow only aardvark so far but the warthogs I think will be able to enter burrows along with spotted hyenas and painted wolves in the recode so that may make them more viable since aardvark burrows won't be like lions can crawl in so that may make the pained wolf and spotted hyena more viable as they actually have an escape from the big cats .
I really enjoy playing as a wild dog, it has a lot of stamina and I usually take down zebras and antilopes alone by keep bitting them until they run out of stam :))))
Personally, I wish they made it so that painted wolves and yeens could latch on to birds. In the game, painted wolves get destroyed by marabou storks, when in real life, black-backed jackals take them down by simply grabbing onto their heads.
Actually painted wolfes Immidiantly abandon a territory when Lions move in. Because a single strike from a lion is enough to decapitate one, so thats correct. In small groups they also exlusively hunt hares, duiker, bushbuck, and sklipspringer.
Wild dogs aren't supposed to fight lions, lionesses have been known to chase around and attack large groups of wild dogs with little to no repercussions. Also, it only takes some 2-4 wild dogs to kill zebras usually, as long as you hunt them properly and are skilled enough to NOT get kicked at every moment. Wild dogs specifically hunt animals by tiring them out and targeting their nose (zebras can't hit you if you bite them by the nose in game, which allows even single hyenas to kill them with enough effort)
The nose grab move was utilized by the only 2 painted wolf packs known to take down zebras. This was a move learned by a larger than usual individual. He and his pack were able to take down zebras (this was during the 1970s and Jane Goodall even made a documentary on it). However, when those nose grabbers died, the whole zebra hunting behavior died out, too.
@@allstarpterosaur850 wild dogs still do this quite often when hunting wildebeest, and in game you can still bite the noses of the animals, so it doesn't make much of a difference. You can still perform this hunting tactic in game and it works pretty well, so I don't know why someone wouldn't utilize it.
@@trabistheidio1095 zebras are riskier than wildebeest because when wildebeest attack, they can only use their horns in the game. When zebras attack, they can use their front and their hind hooves.

I love playing the game every day, and I usually play as a lion or a wildebeest. Oh and by the way If you're an Impala you can attack but as a gazelle you can't. And you can't burrow anymore as a warthog. And omg the video with the birds was so funny!
Well to be fair, cheetahs aren’t great at fighting off other predators irl, wild dogs are weak alone, impala and gazelles are defenseless, hyenas aren’t great alone, so I’d say this is overall realistic. When the recode comes out you HAVE to do a tier list, new mechanics will come so lions won’t be the only ones with good mechanics. Now when the recode happens, lions will have some HARD counters, those being elephants, hippos and crocs. I’d say those 3 would be in S tier too, since nothing, and I mean NOTHING is even damaging elephants, elephants are the strongest animal alive today, and will easily one shot male lions. Hippos are nearly elephant power, and insanely aggressive with a hardcore bite and crocodiles are way stronger than lions and some of the absolute best ambush predators in the history of this planet. However these 3 will have a counter aswell, they are the definition of slow. Anything could probably outrun elephants easily. Crocs are hardly faster than elephants if not slower, and hippos are also quite slow. Plus these 3 would have bad stamina being so massive or build for water mobility. As for the ostrich, baboon, oryx and aardvark, I’ve got no clue. But my opinion is elephants, hippos & crocs will be S tier for sure, being the strongest forces in game, with their only counter being to run away. Sorry, If it’s TL,DR that’s fine
I would have to disagree on crocodiles being S tier, I think they are A tiers kept back by their reliance on water, cause on land a crocodile can get killed a buffalo,hippo,elephant and lion , their lack of speed and maybe mobility options and their poor stamina ( no really, check Ludi's video and go to the crocodile part, i think he just sprints for 1 second or even less and a good portion of the crocodile stamina is gone, is going to keep them in check, hippos are also likely going to bully crocodiles a lot so good luck with that, BUT underwater they will be a force to reckon with
I can't really see leopards being Higher then B tier tbh and i main them, the reason is because they are quite situational, a leopard is very powerful in the right areas which are the ones dense in vegetation, but in plains and in the open ? the only thing saving you there is the incompetence of the player you're hunting and the night at times, the leopard is way too reliant on ''right place, right time'' in my opinion to be anything higher then a B tier. Edit: a recent update made it so the cats can't pounce for a solid second after taking damage, this makes leopards have a terrible matchup against spotted hyenas
Honestly hyena can be pretty good even on its own, but I think where you put it is fine as for the average player that be right, but when it's a skilled hyena then that when it becomes high a tier or even low s tier. The reason why I day this is because I have experience in doing some crazy stuff as a lone hyena, I have killed multiple male and sometimes female lions, even when they're was more than one of them, I recall a time where I was taking on a lone male lion and pounced me, I managed to escape with 24% hp left but rather than running I kept fighting and managed to dodge and attack it, then another male lion came in so I was careful as I attacked the first male lion but then the second one just kinda dipped and logged, shortly after I killed the first lion.
White backed will be a playable, while there will be some AI that spawn near carcasses however, and they got it from the dev, who the wiki owner is friends with

I despise the no attacking in herds (even with other animals that aren't your species) mechanic. If you're a zebra, and you have a GIANT herd, well guess what? You better leave it, because all you can do if a predator shows up is run. You physically cannot attack in herds as most herbivores, with the buffalo as an exception. It's a very very VERY stupid mechanic, and can be easily exploited. LUDI REMOVE IT IF U SEE THIS-
IRL most animals will run from threats rather than fight in groups, although you can defend in groups against some animals if you are much larger (wildebeest vs wild dog, zebra and cheetah, etc)
You know what happens if you don’t disable it? You get cenozoic survival where instead of running from stuff the entire herd of elk gangs up on the threat and annihilates it almost immediately
If that was the case, what would stop herbivores from ganging up on carnivores ? That used to be a thing in old ws and testing a and it was really unfun from the carnivore perspective
if rhino and hippos were added, then it would be like: 1.both behemoths would have more hp and defence than giraffes and buffalo 2.for the muder horse [hippo] would nearly one shot lions with there bite and could take on lion prides 3. rhinos [white rhino] would do less damge than hippos but have more damge than buffalo\giraffe 4. both hippos and rhino would be as fast as giraffs and ok staminia. and finally elephants would be god tier, they would two shot even hippos and rhino, would be as slow as a buffalo, have the highest hp and have similar damge to a hippo. so forme they should add at least one these animals in the future and make them op [it may happen soon].
Lions would only be able to do one thing, *RUN* Nothing at all will be able to even damage elephants, their only counter is to run. Hippos and Rhinos are much stronger than buffalo and giraffes, so lions will really not be able to counter then, unless they flee

It's a primal-carnage based group game where you can play as various humans or dinosaurs. I think you should look at it once it comes out in a good while Oceanic testing is weird and has the same mesh models wild savannah will apparently be having Dinosaur arcade is interesting and has some nice knickknacks for new players Prehistoria is weird. Maybe look at it I can't exactly tell what it is Amazon Ascension is with amazon animals and has a progression system based on points from quests, i'd say it's the one youd be most interested in
Having only played this game once briefly, I can’t wait to see how elephants shake up the meta. Seeing how realistic this game is, an adult elephant is basically immune to predation so they’ll basically be a great animal for trolling asshole lion players that kill everything in site. This sentiment applies to both species of African rhino and hippopotamus as well.
I fear elephant players that will disrupt hunts , you try to kill something only for one of them to appear out of nowhere and chase you off , or even worse guard the body

Imo I'd recommend Prior Extinction, it can be a bit P2Wy when you can buy your way to torvosaurus, who in absence of anything larger, fulfills the role of apex predator, but overall its pretty fun There's a hell of a commitment trying to go from dinosaur to dinosaur though if you don't buy your way up. Growing isn't that bad tho
Something you forgot to mention about cheetas (even tought don't change THAT much) is that the game has hare AI, and these AI's, even tought enough to fill a cheetah's hunger bar about 3 times, are FASTER THAN CHEETAH AT FULL SPEED but, there is something that enables cheetah, lions, leopards and hyenas to hunt them, and it's also something that unable them, if you crouch, you can get pretty close to them, but only as cheetahs, since they are the only animals who rely 90% on them, any other animal even crouching, can only get REALLY far from it, anyways, they are small as heck so it's almost impossible to find, but, even if you don't think, there will ALWAYS be an hare AI close to you, since they spawn very frequently specially with cheetahs and martial eagles

Have you tried dinosaur world Mobile? I love that game It has no growth but instead it has a progression system. However you mostly just mess around there because there is always at least 10 carcasses on the map at all times so if you are a carnivore you don’t need to kill most of the time. And if your an herbivore there is food everywhere

An update due to having gotten comments about it. That comment about Dinosaur Simulator, mentioned alongside Era of Terror and its retro counterpart run by Petwal, is not warranted. The game has a history of hiring very sketchy and bad people, but as far as I know they've been doing well now. Chicken Engineer in particular has never been problematic to my knowledge.
Amazon ascension is also a very good game. Though it has progression like the old isle but the combat is also fun. As I'm typing this it costs 25 robux. It will become free in the future though.

Yeah Cheetahs and Wild Dogs are perfect examples of animals nerfed by how the players don't act like real animals. Now they could be viable if heat is added to the game, in which hunting during the middle of the day drains stamina more quickly for most predators. It is during the hottest part of the day that Cheetahs and Wild Dogs most often hunt, because their competition and prey are nerfed and they handle the heat better. Could be a good balancing mechanic, give the diurnal hunters an actual edge instead of punishing them for not having night vision. Also most importantly IT NERFS LIONS.
I do think if pulled off correctly a temperature system could be a good method of indirectly nerfing or atleast limiting larger animals whilst benefitting smaller ones. Like you’ve mentioned wild dogs and cheetahs are generally more active throughout the day, wild dogs especially use this to help wear down their prey even more efficiently than otherwise.
If too limiting or obtrusive however I could see it definetly making gameplay less enjoyable, especially if heatwaves were quite frequent

If you're good enough, as a warthog, you can indeed make a den entrance too small for lions, and maybe leopards or cheetahs. Also the morphing of the map is just so fun. I can spend hours as one, making a floating dirt island, running a free den service where I dig people quality dens, making inescapable pits of death, doom and destruction...
I don't think it's possible to make an entrance small enough to keep out leopards and hyenas, however, you can keep out cheetahs and lions.

Gotta agree with you on basically everything you had to say about the painted wolf. My favorite animal in the game is F tier because it takes a lot of them to be a formidable force. Literally the only things you can hunt down as a lone painted wolf are impalas (mainly the does but, if you’re skilled enough, you can take down the bucks) and Thomson’s gazelles. It’s incredibly rare to even accomplish that because of those player’s tendencies to come crying to the nearest buffalo instead of actually using safety in numbers with their own kind in the first place. If players actually had good communication skills and were able to work together consistently, painted wolves could be higher on the tier list.
Also, if you’re a warthog and you’re gonna use a burrow, use it right. Warthogs will enter their burrow (which is technically a vacant aardvark burrow in most real life circumstances) rump first and use their heads with tusks as a shield. It worked well for me against a lioness one time, but the combat mechanics have to be worked on if this is ever going to be a viable strategy.
P.S. Although I mainly play alone as a spotted hyena, I’ve become a specialist at hunting buffaloes. I’ve been able to take down lone adult buffaloes by grabbing the upper lip (which immobilizes them and makes them unable to attack as long as you’re grabbing the upper lip). I’m not a one trick pony, tho. Another place I often grab is the *ahem* batteries. This strategy has worked for me more than 5 times without me dying in those situations.
yea the painted wolf one once I was with 2 other painted wolves like a little trio, we planned to hunt an impala that was near wetlands (we only did wet4lands because I suck at the map skills) and what did it do RUN RIGHT INTO THE CHAOS even thou the animals may not be fighting us we don't want to be killed because it took me like hours to get to wetlands
You can take down prey as large as topi and kongoni with the wild dog alone, I have done it before, but you can’t just plow in and try to attack the whole time, you have to dance around the topi or kongoni and aim for the most vulnerable spot, the rear, and they will eventually go down, I’ve also seen a wild dog solo a zebra but that was a while ago so I am not 100% sure if it’s still possible, but wild dog still isnt good regardless because it has no answer to other predators besides cheetahs unless it joins a hyena clan or by some miracle a large wild dog pack
This is a great tierlist, as someone who's been playing Wild Savanna for about 2-3 years now (it's not that long but I'm not completely new either), I totally agree with you. I'm currently waiting for the big update and can't wait to play either crocodile, hippo, baboon and maybe aardvark if they all release in said update.
My biggest problem with the game right now is that I don't see anybody playing really playing any other animal than lion, hyena and buffalo. Sure, I get their one of, if not the strongest in the lion's case, strongest and effecient animals to play as, but I would like to see the playerbase have a bit more variety.
Now I'm gonna ramble about some moments I've had playing Wild Savanna, if anyone reading this doesn't mind. Me and my friend would go around messing around with lions and doing "population control" (although this was when lions were just even more populated in servers then they are today) but I'm pretty sure it was an excuse to play some pretty fun herbivores! I played a wildebeest/gnu and my friend played as a zebra, and very few lions were able to compete with us. We would take on whole lion prides, male coliations, etc. just by working together and being on the offense. I'm not saying we didn't face some formiddable lion opponents, such as duo of lionesses we fought who were really good at the game, a mixpacking lion pride and hyena clan, a very large lion coalition; which I'm talking about like 7 male lions. It was all in good fun and those were genuinely some of the most enjoyable moments I had in Wild Savanna.
There was also a time where me and one of my other friends were playing as wild dogs and managed to take down a lioness. Although we didn't die, it took 100+ bites to kill her off. So while it was possible, it was also a big pain to pull off, and it takes a large amount of patience, which some players don't have.
At the end of the day, this is me just rambling about my experiences, and I don't expect anyone to pay any attention to this whole essay of a comment, but the game is really fun if you want to either fight, be realistic or just have a good time. Although I've taken a break off the game for a bit, I plan to play it more when the big update drops, so I'm waiting for that. Anyone who read this far, I hope you have a nice day or night.

A ws tier list is something that i have waited for a long time, the game is really fun and although it has its flaws (Lions being too common and how the majority of the map feels like empty space) i still find myself coming back to it because of how satisfying things are, i really enjoyed this tier list and altrough i don't agree with everything on it, i still enjoyed it for the most part.
Personally i dont agree with leopards on top of hyenas. You pointed that a major downside of being a hyena is that they're “a punching bag.” for common animals, but this depends on skill and patience. As a hyena you can easily solo a leopard or a topi depending on how good the opposing player is. A good strategy that many hyena mains dont use is to make the prey run which will efficiently tire the prey, when their stamina is low they’ll stop and all you need to do is juke attacks and attack from behind.
But at the end of the day its an opinion, and i have nothing against it. Great video!
As a leopard main , i would have to agree, of course in 1 on 1 combat the leopard often defeats the hyena, however in general survival hyenas have the advantage since leopards have to rely on stealth to get close to their targets which can be risky, whilst the hyena just needs to chase prey
@@raptormage2209 True. The only thing i dont like about hyena vs leopard is that leopards can pounce hyenas. In real life, hyenas are too big for leopards to pounce, a female hyena is the weight of a female leopard which is why in most situations a leopard will try intimidate and not try kill it.

Here’s a tip for solo hyena and wild dog players, when faced with a herbivore that’s strong enough to win the fight, use your superior stamina to your advantage (dance around the prey, circle it and aim for the rear or nose, the nose is recommended for the zebra as they can’t attack you, and the rear is recommended for everything else) using this tactic, you can take down much larger prey than you could have when just trying to plow through and hoping for the best, I’ve taken down buffalo as a lone hyena and topi and kongoni as a lone wild dog with this tactic, but I’d still argue that wild dogs are still high F or low D, as they have absolutely no answer to predators besides cheetahs especially if caught off guard (which is the most likely way to die as a wild dog as you can be one pounce KO’d by the big cats)
Such a shame cause wild dogs are fun to play, but the game is such a lion fest that playing anything that is vulnerable to lions is less enjoyable then it it should be, had there not been such an abudance of those cats, then maybe wild dogs would elevate to a higher tier , C tier as best

If you ever plan on making a Cenozoic survival tier list here’s my opinion:
S tier: kelenken
A tier: elk (male).
B tier: quagga, elk (female).
D tier: dire wolves (same issue as painted dogs in wild Savannah)
Edit: this will probably change drastically once other large predators are actually added (smilodon, megalania, cave bear, etc)
Wait until the game is more complete before doing one tho
Honestly I'd put the wolves in a similar tier to the painted wolves in this game in my opinion.
Rather efficient hunters, just get bullied by many other things and need extensive numbers, skill, and coordination to accomplish things effectively.
I've seen wolves shred solo elk and quaggas, even bulls, but I've also seen a single elk bull or kelenken kill five wolves at once then successfully retreat. And even in my experience even a pack of 6 wolves attacking a lone quagga ends up with some casualties with most of your pack dying.
Also it is absolutely miserable if you play a lone wolf since a lone wolf effectively gets bodied by everything, which is completely understandable but there is almost nothing you can do or eat besides carrion. The only thing you might be able to kill besides players with a major skill issue are deer fawn and those are rather rare outside of being defended by other elk.
I do imagine though it will be far better once smaller animals are added since those will add more prey options to the fast and enduring wolves.

i dont agree with the dire wolf even though yes it will be bodies by most creatures there will soon be other animals to deal with the painted wolf prombelms thylacines (need no explations) tomarctus (like a pack hunting onmivores canid more like a coyote) and hyaenicthrium wongill (yes its a hyena buts its one of those dog hyenas like the aardwolf and its bewteen a jackal and a coyote)
This is really well done! Through in my opinion/experience, I disagree with the placement of Marabou storks and Zebras; Id place the stork in A tier, but behind the others simply due to its attacks being stationary on the ground and unavailable in the air, however they are INCREDIBLY powerful. To the point that any other bird trying to fight them on the ground is done for, and even being able to do significant damage to Lycaons if they refuse to run away abusing that they have no ability to quick turn and keep running behind them. As for Zebra id honestly rank as the highest herbivore, possibly even being placed in S tier if we are talking in terms of engagement- yes, they are weaker than either Giraffes or Buffalo, and certainly can't stand up to prides of lions like they can, but they make up for in being able to fight everything much more comfortably. They have impressive stats in speed and stamina, and are fairly beastly when it comes to health compared to other typical prey animals, meaning you can shrug off pounces if you time the minigame well. Most other herbivores only have 2 attacks, Giraffes have three, but Zebras have a whopping 5! They have two individual back kicks for each leg, a devastating buck that can be used while running, a frontal stomp, and even a trample attack which while clunky to use, is devastating towards smaller predators and can quickly sweep entire groups if they aren't careful. Combine all these factors for the Zebra, and you basically have the herbivorous equivalent of Lions. Not in power, mind you, but with how comfortably they can handle every carnivore in the game in most situations. The only carnivore they struggle with in a 1v1 situation are male lions, which they can simply run away from without any difficulty. A single well-placed buck to the head can one shot any predator.
I agree zebra should be higher on the tier list also btw could you tell me controls for each zebra attack and what that attack does? I'm trying to get good at zebra

So far, I agree with everything except 1 thing: the stork. The stork can absolutely defend itself from birds if it goes on land, as on land, it has a right click attack specifically made for this purpose, where it does the normal peck, except upwards.
Another thing i'd like to add is that the zebra has 2 running attacks, the behind kick, and what somewhat resembles a charge, where it stomps forward multiple times while running for around 2-3 seconds. I find this ability to be strangely effective, as most players can't distinguish it from the normal running animation, and pay the price.
you should really try Wolfquest 3, tho you must already know it since you used their soundtrack for the painted wolf part, Wolfquest is a really fun and realistic game

As soon as I heard the Wolf Quest theme song played, I gave this video a like. I haven’t played it in like 12 years, but it’s so nostalgic.

The wind direction is like winds that will be added, it will control birds flying slowing them from one direction and get them faster in other, and also getting scents faster

This will be the thing, with this u can locate where is food and predators, so wind direction will increase the movement of the scent particles that will come in orange color of player and green one for food ants or termites for aardvarks
Emotes
It is said that there will be emotes in recode but clearly not sure
ALERT calls
There are alert calls but they will work on other way, herbs will now do that emote just when they spot a predator, but if predator was hiding in the grass it can till be uncoverd by some herbs
Climbing
There are climb abilities for leopard, but they will work on other way, now leopards and baboons will be able to climb tree freely or the rock or wall
Swimming
The main reason why croc was not been in the game

I agree with pretty much the whole video, I was actually waiting for someone to make a wild savanna tier list, this is a really good game that is a whole lot of fun! It does need a bit more balancing, as the big 3 (lions, buffaloes, giraffes) are the only 3 animals that can stay on the ground consistently without having to constantly be on the run. But I really enjoy this game!

The Wolfquest menu music during the painted wolf segment sent me right back to my childhood.
6:10 what's interesting is the fact that Cheetahs are one of the 2 species of wild cat known to group hunt,they are actually pretty smart in general and there are multiple videos of cheetahs working together to bring down prey(either work together or some distract while the others ease in on a lone baby or injured member of a herd).
I would love to play this game again. Unfortunately, my friend decided he hated this game when we learned that leopards can not do any damage whatsoever to a lioness. One kept stealing all our food and we decided to finally make a stand because we were starving. We were getting so many hits and she couldn't land a hit on us. But after a while, we learned that leopards don't do any damage and that's the point my friend declared this game to be so stupid that it's not worth playing anymore. Sad day.
Please tell me they fixed that? I really wanna play with my friend again.

May i say that leopards aren't supposed to 1. Team up and 2. Actually stand up to lions unless cubs are involved, were basing the stats, animations, mechanics off of real life and we decided to make leopards non-offensive against lions. I hope this can provide an explanation for interactions between those two species in the game.

So a leopard just isn't allowed to deal any damage to her, no matter how small? Basing it off real life? Are we really saying that a leopard in real life can do absolutely no damage to a lioness no matter how hard they try? According to this game, leopard teeth and claws just magically bounce off skin if that skin belongs to a lioness in real life?
Also, no combat that doesn't involve cubs? What if it does involves cubs? How is a leopard supposed to defend those cubs like you say if they can't even deal damage?
Also, it was our first time playing. We were not roleplaying realism, nor told that we were on a realism server (in fact, I'd say the lioness wasn't being very realistic either). My friend wanted to be a leopard, so we were leopards together.

You simply leave them the kill, you can't deal decent damage simply because leopards cannot physically pounce lions and we aren't about to let lions die to paw swipes that's just broken. Lions are massive in comparaison to leopards so no its a lost cause even if we made damage available to them. Its like asking for gazelle to be able to damage leopards its useless and doesn't do anything.
Second if it involves cubs you just use it as a distraction enough to just have your cubs get to safety.
Its still the same but I'm sure things will change eventually also how's it going

I have not played the game at all so I think I shouldn't be taken seriously here, but I like balance so here's some ideas on the top of my head.
Frankly I feel that impala and gazele would be a lot more fun if cheetahs and painted dogs were better.
They are probably the only predators they can fight off, so improving them would probably make the prey more fun since there's stuff you can actually fight off now.
Warthogs holes should not be big enough for lions and with a flat hard head, they could be immune to pounces from the front (unless its a lion due to their size) and take less damage. They could also use this to block off smaller carnivores from their tunnels as they can't get pass that thick boney skull.
For painted dogs, I think they should be allowed to borrow and make dens too small for any other predator to fit in. This gives them more engaging gameplay while also keeping them safe and differentiating them from hyenas.
For cheetahs, they simply need more stamina (not too much), a fixed hitbox, and I'm thinking a higher jump so they could perch on rocks too tall for other predators to reach them.
I think the main thing impala and gazelle need is a stamina increase to give them a better chance at evading the pursuer,

Hey scanova, love the content however I do have a slight issue with the video. With the warthog you mentioned that they cant make a burrow that there predators cant enter, while this is true for the most part it is actually possible to make a burrow that lions cant get in. It’s difficult but it’s possible to make it in a way were it impossible for lions to enter, no matter how hard they try
Hope they add crocs at some point. Maybe some venomous snakes too like cobras or mambas. Would definitely diversify the gameplay a little bit and maybe help to give some competition to some of the bigger threats in this list if done right. Or act as prey for the birds for example.

My opinion here, I think marabou is the most fun animal in the thentire game (granted I havn’t played any Alan’s animals aside from the gazelle, cheetah and little bit of leopard) it is amazing for trolling, being able to 3 or 4 shot eagles but it has a glich wich allows it’s to, instead of landing and taking fall damage when touching the ground like other birds, it instead drastically speeds up and doesn’t land, which allows for serious trolling.
In the wild, Painted Wolves actually do better in the wild than how they do in game. It is just that at that the time people play them less. And they are meant to be in packs cause family.
Thats the case for most playables in ws, most would be better if people played then or other animals more often instead of everyone being a lion

warthogs in the new update (I think) will not be able to burrow only aardvark so far but the warthogs I think will be able to enter burrows along with spotted hyenas and painted wolves in the recode so that may make them more viable since aardvark burrows won't be like lions can crawl in so that may make the pained wolf and spotted hyena more viable as they actually have an escape from the big cats .

I really enjoy playing as a wild dog, it has a lot of stamina and I usually take down zebras and antilopes alone by keep bitting them until they run out of stam :))))
Personally, I wish they made it so that painted wolves and yeens could latch on to birds. In the game, painted wolves get destroyed by marabou storks, when in real life, black-backed jackals take them down by simply grabbing onto their heads.
Actually painted wolfes Immidiantly abandon a territory when Lions move in. Because a single strike from a lion is enough to decapitate one, so thats correct. In small groups they also exlusively hunt hares, duiker, bushbuck, and sklipspringer.
Wild dogs aren't supposed to fight lions, lionesses have been known to chase around and attack large groups of wild dogs with little to no repercussions. Also, it only takes some 2-4 wild dogs to kill zebras usually, as long as you hunt them properly and are skilled enough to NOT get kicked at every moment. Wild dogs specifically hunt animals by tiring them out and targeting their nose (zebras can't hit you if you bite them by the nose in game, which allows even single hyenas to kill them with enough effort)
The nose grab move was utilized by the only 2 painted wolf packs known to take down zebras. This was a move learned by a larger than usual individual. He and his pack were able to take down zebras (this was during the 1970s and Jane Goodall even made a documentary on it). However, when those nose grabbers died, the whole zebra hunting behavior died out, too.
@@allstarpterosaur850 wild dogs still do this quite often when hunting wildebeest, and in game you can still bite the noses of the animals, so it doesn't make much of a difference. You can still perform this hunting tactic in game and it works pretty well, so I don't know why someone wouldn't utilize it.
@@trabistheidio1095 zebras are riskier than wildebeest because when wildebeest attack, they can only use their horns in the game. When zebras attack, they can use their front and their hind hooves.

I love playing the game every day, and I usually play as a lion or a wildebeest. Oh and by the way If you're an Impala you can attack but as a gazelle you can't. And you can't burrow anymore as a warthog. And omg the video with the birds was so funny!
if you can play well with a cheetah and be smart with it, it becomes stupidly overpowered, especially with a coalition.
Well to be fair, cheetahs aren’t great at fighting off other predators irl, wild dogs are weak alone, impala and gazelles are defenseless, hyenas aren’t great alone, so I’d say this is overall realistic.
When the recode comes out you HAVE to do a tier list, new mechanics will come so lions won’t be the only ones with good mechanics.
Now when the recode happens, lions will have some HARD counters, those being elephants, hippos and crocs.
I’d say those 3 would be in S tier too, since nothing, and I mean NOTHING is even damaging elephants, elephants are the strongest animal alive today, and will easily one shot male lions. Hippos are nearly elephant power, and insanely aggressive with a hardcore bite and crocodiles are way stronger than lions and some of the absolute best ambush predators in the history of this planet.
However these 3 will have a counter aswell, they are the definition of slow. Anything could probably outrun elephants easily. Crocs are hardly faster than elephants if not slower, and hippos are also quite slow. Plus these 3 would have bad stamina being so massive or build for water mobility.
As for the ostrich, baboon, oryx and aardvark, I’ve got no clue.
But my opinion is elephants, hippos & crocs will be S tier for sure, being the strongest forces in game, with their only counter being to run away.

I would have to disagree on crocodiles being S tier, I think they are A tiers kept back by their reliance on water, cause on land a crocodile can get killed a buffalo,hippo,elephant and lion , their lack of speed and maybe mobility options and their poor stamina ( no really, check Ludi's video and go to the crocodile part, i think he just sprints for 1 second or even less and a good portion of the crocodile stamina is gone, is going to keep them in check, hippos are also likely going to bully crocodiles a lot so good luck with that, BUT underwater they will be a force to reckon with

I can't really see leopards being Higher then B tier tbh and i main them, the reason is because they are quite situational, a leopard is very powerful in the right areas which are the ones dense in vegetation, but in plains and in the open ? the only thing saving you there is the incompetence of the player you're hunting and the night at times, the leopard is way too reliant on ''right place, right time'' in my opinion to be anything higher then a B tier.
Edit: a recent update made it so the cats can't pounce for a solid second after taking damage, this makes leopards have a terrible matchup against spotted hyenas
Honestly hyena can be pretty good even on its own, but I think where you put it is fine as for the average player that be right, but when it's a skilled hyena then that when it becomes high a tier or even low s tier.
The reason why I day this is because I have experience in doing some crazy stuff as a lone hyena, I have killed multiple male and sometimes female lions, even when they're was more than one of them, I recall a time where I was taking on a lone male lion and pounced me, I managed to escape with 24% hp left but rather than running I kept fighting and managed to dodge and attack it, then another male lion came in so I was careful as I attacked the first male lion but then the second one just kinda dipped and logged, shortly after I killed the first lion.
Warthogs can actually make decent burrows if you’re a female, but it only really works against lions and cheetahs so still not great

I despise the no attacking in herds (even with other animals that aren't your species) mechanic. If you're a zebra, and you have a GIANT herd, well guess what? You better leave it, because all you can do if a predator shows up is run. You physically cannot attack in herds as most herbivores, with the buffalo as an exception. It's a very very VERY stupid mechanic, and can be easily exploited. LUDI REMOVE IT IF U SEE THIS-
IRL most animals will run from threats rather than fight in groups, although you can defend in groups against some animals if you are much larger (wildebeest vs wild dog, zebra and cheetah, etc)

You get cenozoic survival where instead of running from stuff the entire herd of elk gangs up on the threat and annihilates it almost immediately

Having only played this game once briefly, I can’t wait to see how elephants shake up the meta. Seeing how realistic this game is, an adult elephant is basically immune to predation so they’ll basically be a great animal for trolling asshole lion players that kill everything in site. This sentiment applies to both species of African rhino and hippopotamus as well.
I fear elephant players that will disrupt hunts , you try to kill something only for one of them to appear out of nowhere and chase you off , or even worse guard the body

Something you forgot to mention about cheetas (even tought don't change THAT much) is that the game has hare AI, and these AI's, even tought enough to fill a cheetah's hunger bar about 3 times, are FASTER THAN CHEETAH AT FULL SPEED but, there is something that enables cheetah, lions, leopards and hyenas to hunt them, and it's also something that unable them, if you crouch, you can get pretty close to them, but only as cheetahs, since they are the only animals who rely 90% on them, any other animal even crouching, can only get REALLY far from it, anyways, they are small as heck so it's almost impossible to find, but, even if you don't think, there will ALWAYS be an hare AI close to you, since they spawn very frequently specially with cheetahs and martial eagles

It has no growth but instead it has a progression system. However you mostly just mess around there because there is always at least 10 carcasses on the map at all times so if you are a carnivore you don’t need to kill most of the time. And if your an herbivore there is food everywhere

Good old times Warthogs had a 10 to 5% chance to one shot a Lion and im not kidding, it might be still active but very hard to achieve, because the pointy edges of a large tusk of a warthog have to hit the Lions face.

about the hog digging, you have to crouch while burrowing to make a snug burrow that you can get it than all the animals can't (maybe female leopards though)

It’s unreliable from what I remember.
Due to the way terrain morphing is it’s essentially a 50/50 as to whether the terrain will block them or do shit against them
