AB was a bit of a handful before the Burfict hit. He changed drastically almost immediately after that hit. It did something to him.

Yep, that's exactly the problem. I myself had an awful brain injury during training exercise at Fort Irwin, California. For years I did off the wall things, eventually losing my military career. What's funny is that I had another brain injury and it cleared everything up. It was like I was in a bad dream for years. I'm so much better now but I still have problems with my brain injury.
